Waiting for Godot in Texas

September 09, 2012 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

Nate Silver of five-thirty-eight has a column regarding Texas. Looking at the map, I was delighted to see that we were not cherry red in Williamson County, but something close to Windsor Rose.

Windsor Rose is the color of nail polish my grandmother wore from the day of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation until her death. I regard this as a sign that we can move this county to something approaching Prairie Primrose, Neutral, or even Baby Blue. Texans, check your county! If we can all help move our counties one notch to the left, we might eventually see Godot, also known as GO Democrats Of Texas!

Every time I read an Electoral College count like that in the article it gives me shivers of delight. Judging from the recent movement in the polls to know Mr. Romney isn’t to love him. How many old whites will be able to hold their noses long enough to vote for Mitt?

Thanks Ellen, made up for Green Bay getting the snot kicked out of them today.

I LOVE IT! Start inviting all your Dem. friends to meet at a local restaurant on a certain date and organize to hand out flyers, make phone calls, do data entry. Wahoo, GODOT!

  3. Woo hoo! And CNN says Texas is moving toward being a swing state. My sister-in-law just moved to Sun City from Dee Cee, and she’s sporting an Obama sign in her pretty front yard. Bell, my county, is less red than you’d think. Thank goodness for Killeen! There is hope.

  4. Blue!! Beautiful Blue! Here in South Texas, it is largely blue, but I wanna see my whole state turn the Color is supposed to be!! Just hated being this “red state” for too damned long! 😉

  6. I still think Texas could potentially pull a North Carolina ’08 and slip blue ahead of expectations. I just wish I could see more recent polling numbers.

  7. TE-the title of your piece made me think about Beckett’s play, and how Romney and Ryan, not unlike the main protagonists Vladimir and Estragon, may be waiting for something that never arrives…in this case, not a person named Godot but a November 6 election victory.

Or maybe I’ll just stop thinking so much and watch a re-run of “Saved By The Bell”…

  8. TE-It made me think of “Waiting for Guffman”. Kellybee is such a high brow 😉
