Oh Dear God, I Quit. I Do. These People Just Got On My Last Nerve.

August 21, 2012 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I am a woman of faith so I know I’m not supposed to hate people.

I hate Republicans.  Just puredee hate them.  No, no, it’s not that I hate what they do.  I hate them.  I hate what they do and who they are that makes them do some crapola like this.

Here’s some menopausal busybody trying to make rape victims feel guilty.  She contends that rape is a blessing in disguise because in the whole history of the whole damn world, two good people were born from rape.  Two.  Ethel Waters and some guy named James Robison back in the 1970’s.  Two people.  That’s all she can name.  And I don’t know for a fact that this cranky ole busybody knows what she’s talking about.

An official from Missouri’s Republican Party on Monday defended Senate candidate Todd Akin after he suggested abortions should not be allowed in any case because victims of “legitimate” rape victims could not get pregnant.

GOP 4th Senate District Committeewoman Sharon Barnes told The New York Times “that abortion is never an option.”

Never.

Oh good grief.

Rich women have always gotten abortions.  They called them something else when the doctor did it and some of them even went to Europe for theirs.  This crabby busybody just wants poor women not to have abortions.  Even if they are dying.

Crabby old nosy bitty.  MYOB.

Thanks to Deb for the heads up.

Be social and share!

  1. Shaking my head! I had just read this on another site and was gobsmacked. I saw that Joe Scarborough said he was tired of his party being the stupid party. Well, when everyone there is a lunatic, what do you think is going to happen, Joe?

  2. publius bolonius says:

I hate them, too. It’s a worry as I’m generally what you might call a live and let live type of guy. So I guess that makes me completely different than your average Teabilly. But I’ve been thinking, why should I upset my beautiful mind for them? Forgive me if I’ve mentioned this before but I find a well placed “Have you/he/she ever heard of Jesus?” works a charm. If not left completely speechless, they generally launch into a spirited defense of their righteous piety. Eyeball rolling ensues as eavesdroppers ‘get’ it. I walk away content.

    2
  3. But JJ, you *can’t* quit–you’re why the rest of us can even get through all this rubbish!

    3
  4. Sharon, if rape is a blessing, it’s in one hell of a disguise.

    4
  5. Marge Wood says:

I imagine there have been more than two good people born of rape. I am not for it. I am for telling the truth and if women think they can’t get pregnant that way, well, that’s pathetic.

    5
  6. James Robison is a televangelist. Of the crazy kind. For a long time now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Robison_(televangelist) I wouldn’t put his contributions to the world in the plus column.

Publius you are so right. These folks are heavy on the Old Testament (um… it might be called “old” for a reason), and the Apostle Paul. Jesus gets his name used (literally) but his teachings are totally ignored.

    6
  7. Oh hell. This is the exact kind of woman who fifty years ago would have sent her unmarried pregnant daughter to the family physician for a D&C because of her “bad” menses. Or dragged her to Puerto Rico for an abortion then bought her a new wardrobe and forced her to marry the next rich idiot who smiled at her.

Its true–and I have to quote Joe Scarborough (my tongue is burning) but these people are truly a part of the Stupid Party.

    7
  8. It makes me wonder just how many psychopaths and other nefarious types were the products of rape. I remember seeing documentary on PBS about a woman, a wife and mother, who was raped at gunpoint by a stranger. Shortly after, she found that she was pregnant. But, because there was a real possibility that the child she was carrying was her husband’s, she went through with the pregnancy. Turned out to be the rapist’s child and she gave him up for adoption. In his teens, he tracked her down. But, his life had been such a mess, they couldn’t put up with him around their other children. When he told the interviewer that he found out he was a child of rape, he just shook.

All anybody has to do is read the Theodore Dreiser classic “An American Tragedy” to find out that the well-to-do and well-connected have always found ways to rid their daughters of unwanted pregnancies. It has always been the poor and not-connected who got stuck and LABELLED as sluts (thank you, Rush Limbaugh, you pervert) and were then left to their own devices to deal with the aftermath.

No, Juanita Jean, you are not alone in your hatred for those sanctimonious, supremely un-Christlike morons.

The GOP convention oughta be a real humdinger this year. Unless a hurricane “aborts” the proceedings.

It just fascinates me how all those “pro-life” fools are so pro Death Penalty and against any kind of social welfare program that would actually promote life. “Pro Birth” is what they are. And, of course, Anti-Woman.

A pox on all of them.

  9. Elizabeth Moon says:

I purely hate that smug look on that woman’s face. That “I’m holy and right and besides that I can buy your house out from under you” look.

And rape as a blessing??? Sharon, honey yeah, you Sharon, Missouri Republican as you are…let’s have an experiment. You and your teenage daughter go for a walk in, say, Kansas City or St. Louis after dark, and when you’re attacked, tell yourself it’s a blessing and you just might get two babies out of thisd and they might be extraordinary. That’s right, just yourself be grabbed and thrown down and have your holy little panties ripped off, and all the time think about how blessed you are to be raped, and how blessed your daughter is…and and let’s see how you feel afterwards.

I don’t personally think anyone deserves being raped, but Sharon, sweetie, you are pushing me damn close to the edge.

    9
  10. Ellen Childress says:

Having taken a minute to study the expression on the face of Sharon Barnes, I have to say that not even a self-respecting rapist would want a piece of that. If he dragged her into the light, he would drop her.

    10
  11. I said I have a web page, called, “Texas Cowgirls for Obama.”I don’t really have a webpage , because I don’t know how to make one. But I am trying and when I do, I hope all you ‘Stupid Party’ haters will join me, whether you are Texans or not, or even if you are a cowboy. I don’t own a cowboy hat or boots and have never been on a horse, but ,Heck, the stupid rednecks in this state think they have a corner on being ‘Texan’. They have gotten me chased in Colorado, just because of my license plate. Colorado hates Texas because of all the stupids from the Stupid Party who dominate this state.
I have been looking for a place to speak my true mind about the amount of hate I have for the ‘Stupids.’ They make me crazy with the screams for less government, then want the government to tell women what to do with our bodies.? what the !@#$%^ is that ^&*()!@#$%^? So dumb, so illogical, so ridiculous, and so STUPID. And, that Sharon girl? Completely over the top. I hate her!
This……….coming from a Yogini, who meditates and tries to be positive and loving…..this is what they are doing to me!
…thanks for listening. I feel better. So glad to find your page!

    11
  12. TexasEllen says:

These folks act like they think God is incapable of judgement and therefore, they must pick up the slack. My guess, God is a bit more creative than any of these whited sepulchers. And Jesus assured us that “God is Love.” I think I’ll go with Jesus and not the Republican platform committee.

    12
  13. I’m trying really hard here to continue to be a Christian and forgive them their egregious sins, but it’s gettin’ tougher and tougher for me. I find myself wondering how lovely it would be if she were raped in some dark parking garage and became pregnant. It’s just so damn easy to be self-righteous when you’re never walked in someone else’s shoes. (Can we say Mitt, Ryan, Akin, etc., etc.)

    13
  14. In a very practical sense, since they are defining life as at conception, do they realize they have now endorsed no treatment for a woman with a fallopian pregnancy? The outcome is this is both the fetus and the woman dies at the rupture.
When I was a girl going to parochial school the priest agreed with this position calling the death of the mother, “God’s will” well if that’s the case you need to stop all medical intervention because by that definition you are thwarting “God’s Will” .
therefore, no more antibiotics, blood transfusions (the Jehovah Witnesses will support that) certainly no viagra or any other ED drugs, not even a boil should be lansed.
They must have very little faith in their God in that if he/she wants to “smite” you, a little medical intervention wouldn’t stand in the way.

    14
  15. Freeportguy says:

Maybe not for HER, but her choices and beliefs have no business interfering with others’.

    15
  16. Ahem. JJ, may I suggest a little bit of prayer.

As for Ms. Barnes, she is just echoing what she heard from Former Governor Huckabee. Mr. Huckabee on his show yesterday pointed to the very same two individuals out of how many other individuals who were conceived in the same manner? Ms. Barnes is displaying her own ignorance and lack of humility.

    17
  18. Are they going to bring back Disco next? or the Jitterbug? or the Charleston? they are still working on the GOP planks, it’s not too late.

    18
  19. Criminy~I hate them as well. As a post-menop myself, here are some of Akin’s FACTS for the fun of all!

    http://www.theawl.com/2012/08/todd-akin-uterus-facts

    19
  20. Doesn’t her comment conflict with the Akin? How can one republican say that nobody gets pregnant and another state that it is a blessing when one becomes pregnant through rape?

My husbands mother was raped during the war, she was Polish and sent to Germany to work on a farm where he was born. I’m sure she did not have any option open to her.
Am I glad? Yes, I am very glad that he was born.
He grew up in abject poverty as she was unable to assimilate to this country after they were sent here. He is a wonderful man, husband and father.
Would I want abortion to be illegal in the case of rape?
    No.
I would NEVER presume to make a decision like that for any women other then myself.
One person’s blessing is another person’s unbearable sorrow.

Don’t forget to vote so idiots like these do not sit in Congress making our laws.

Where are the tax returns, Mitt??????

    20
  21. Uncle Dave says:

Years ago a friend told of a doctor in Wichita Falls who performed abortions on girls whose parents could afford him. Part of his price was requiring young girls to have sex with him. We could always go back to that.

    21
  22. gidget commando says:

Uncle Dave, I wish that story would go far and wide. In fact, I wish some of his victims were in a position safe and whole enough to name names. People who cling to such myths and denial do so to shield themselves from the terror that it could happen to them. “If it happened to her, she must have done something wrong. If I don’t do that thing, it won’t happen to me.”

I’m Gidget Commando. I’m a rape survivor and I won’t be shushed, slut-shamed, used, abused, or marginalized by a bunch of mean-spirited politicians or anybody else, dammit. (Don’t worry, JJ. Everybody in my life already knows. I try to speak up whenever I can because one gutsy voice is sometimes all it takes to give some other survivors hers, or his.)

    22
  23. I wonder about this part of the right wing insanity. It used to be common knowledge that Ted Bundy and Sam Berkowitz (Son of Sam) were adopted as infants. If those two were both products of rape, given up for adoption, then I think it would be reasonable to pass a law requiring all products of rape to be aborted. How can a violent misogynist father an admirable human being?

    23
  24. Uncle Dave says:

Gidget Commando, Everyone who comments here is proud of you. Stay courageous. For my part, rape will never be accepted as the subject of a joke or off-hand remark, and victims will be defended from the likes of Ryan, Akin, Barnes and the rest of that mean-spirted gaggle of something that rhymes with brass poles.

    24
  25. Gidget Commando, we need more brave women like you! Keep talking, as much as you can, to as many as you can. I’ve never been in your shoes (and hope like crazy I never will), but I am amazed by women as smart and brave as you!

    25
  26. buskyandme–Thanks! I love it!

    26
  27. May Sharon barnes receive God’s Blessings.

    27
  28. gidget commando says:

Atta boy, Uncle Dave. You keep up the fight in your neck of the woods. I’ll don my armor over here. 🙂

    28
  29. san fraser says:

JJ you don’t hate Republicans. You hate ignorance and stupidity, and both tend to gravitate to the republiscum party.
Like lice, chiggers, and mosquitos, they tend to show up more in the heat – or if you leave the door (an election year) open.

    29
  30. actually it was huckabee who cited these two lucky people as being the product of rape

    30
  31. aggieland liz says:

Go Gidgit GO! JJ, read the end of Matthew, the part about the sheep n the goats; now imagine the looks on the faces of that female and her cohorts and the Belles of Heaven, and anyone else u want to put in that corral-when the King says
    his piece.

Now, part two: remember that Jesus loves these people, remembers them when they were little, and wants to take them to heaven and live with them there too. After your head explodes you will feel better. (I am doing this exercise about a certain person who has given me a semi public slap for no reason I can figure out, and I’m hacked. Still gritting my teeth about Jesus wants him to be in heaven too. I have a VERY hard head, many explosions required 🙁 )

  32. english teacher says:

    @Gidget Commando.

I just opened an email from Ultra Violet asking rape survivors or those who know someone close who is a rape survivor to share your stories. All the stories will be shared with the media and delivered to elected officials—but your name won’t be shared. It will be completely anonymous unless you tell them differently.

  33. Elise Von Holden says:

When I was born my mother was not sure if I was my fathers child or her fathers child– needless to say, as a 16 yr old she had no business being a mother no matter whose kid I was…
(I do look like my paternal grandmother–small blessing) the shame, stress and nightmare childhood that I had, and the nightmare that my mothers life was, makes me support being able to choose to have a wanted child one of the most important things we need to do, every child should be a wanted child, the cost and price for any other type is far too great.

    33
  34. I’ve read a number of people on this discussion talking about forgiving these wretched people. Forgiveness isn’t my responsibility. Forgiveness is an issue between themselves and whatever god to which they pay lip service.

My responsibility to to stop them. Stop them from helping to kill our lgbt youth. Stop them from turning our women’s bodies into property that is owned by men. Stop them from taking us back to the 15th century. Stop them from destroying our environment, our country and our world.

When I was younger I used to think we could educate these fools. Wrong.

There is a saying in my particular part of Texas — “I’m East Texas ignorant and proud of it.”

I don’t want to educate or forgive or even hate these people.

I just want to stop them.

    34
  35. I don’t understand. Can someone explain it? If Republicans want to eliminate poor people from our society, then why do they insist on forcing poor women and women who have been raped to have unwanted children? Am I missing something?

    35
  36. gidget commando says:

Thanks, English Teacher. I’ll check that out.

    36
  37. Thanks, buskyandme! That was fabulous!

As to this woman’s comments – I can think of a number of reasons why an abortion might be necessary, but that’s not the point. The point is that every situation is different, and the decision should be between the woman and her Dr and maybe her family and/or the father (depending on the situation).
