Yep, East Texas. Where White Men Are Soooo Victimized.

August 13, 2012 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, you’re going to think that this is something from The Onion.  It absolutely is not.

There’s a guy named DeWitt R. Thomas, who lives in Big Sandy, Texas.  That’s up in East Texas on the banks of the Sabine River, where crazy grows faster than crabgrass.

Local hero Keith Langston

DeWitt, which has come to be pronounced Dimwit, took his hiney to the Two Rivers Grocery & Market store and purchased himself some groceries, probably sody water and a day’s supply of Mars Bars.

At the grocery store, the sacker, Aaron Menefee,  began to sack DeWitt’s groceries and that’s where the victimization of the white man started.  It was so egregious that it caused  DeWitt to file himself a federal lawsuit.

He stated in a nine-page, hand-written lawsuit that he told the grocery sacker, a black man, “Wait a minute, don’t touch my groceries. I can’t have someone negroidal touch my food. It’s against my creed.”

Yes, DeWitt has a creed other than walking around town dripping crazy.

Aaron Menefee: Scary black man

The checker, a suspicious looking black man named Aaron Menefee, said he thought DeWitt was joking around.  Only in East Texas would calling someone a negroidal be considered funny.  When DeWitt kept repeating it over and over, the checker got outraged and threw him out of the store and Aaron walked to another part of the store.

The store owner, a true gentleman named Keith Langston, told DeWitt that he could not come back into the store.

DeWitt thinks this is religious persecution so he came back anyway right at closing time and when Langston called the police and locked the door until they got there, DeWitt claimed he was being persecuted.

Thomas said his religious beliefs are based on Vedism, which he said encompasses Hinduism.

“Vedism translates into knowledge. I am not this way because I am ignorant. Ignorance is the enemy,” he said.

Thomas said he has not broken any laws and was exercising his religious freedom and the rights he has been given.

“White people are to be protected under the civil rights law just as anyone else,” Thomas said. “It would be the same as if you asked that a congoid (a person from west/central Africa) not touch your food.”

Well, the way I see it, if the owner of the store doesn’t want to do business with an idiotoid, he shouldn’t have to.

Elect me to the Texas Lege and I’ll make that the law.

Thanks to Anna for the heads-up.

Be social and share!

OMG, I do not live in crazy east Texas, but instead in a large metropolitan area – Houston. I recently moved, and one of my neighbors had a little get together so I could meet all my new neighbors. Well, as we chatted the conversation went more and more down the road to racism. At one point someone dropped the “N” word. I nearly fainted. The most outspoken racist was a small Asian woman with a very thick accent. I guess I’m lucky I’m a white girl, I can’t imagine how a family of color would have been treated in the neighborhood. I guess I moved too far from the liberal Heights.

I’m so sorry for that poor young man who tried to help Dewittless.

  3. Lord love a duck!!! Texas is getting eaten by the crazy bug more each day.

  4. Good post Juanita, but the white guy in the photo is the store owner that kicked that bigot out, not the bigot in question.

    4
  5. Geez, wonder if his complaint was block style and in crayon, lord knows actually writing in cursive is waaaaaay beyond this numbnut.

    5
  6. Time was when folks like Dimwit had sense enough to keep their mouths shut except around folks they knew agreed with them. These crazy people are getting brazen, too. Those cowards are getting nervy. Where is this coming from?

  7. Juanita Jean says:

Chad, you are so right. I’ll go fix that right now!

    7
  8. Maybe we should give DeWitt the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps while he was reading one of his holy texts, let’s say the 1000 page Mahabharata, in the original Sanskrit, he mistranslated a passage or two? Has anyone considered that possibility?

  9. I’m seeing job creation here for some enterprising KKK’er! In addition to kosher foods, there could be a whole array of foods not touched by anyone but a white person. Now, that would have to include the farmers, the processing plant, the warehouse and wholesaler, the truck drivers and delivery people, and the stock boys in each store. Good luck with that Dimwit Thomas! How about menstruating women? Can they touch your food? How about atheists? Liberals? Liberal, lesbian atheists?

I fixed it. I’m gonna send Mr. Langston a note saying i messed up and he’s my hero now.

  14. @crone it’s coming from us electing a black man and pushing our hardest to re-elect him. Seems we were wrong about moving past racism and it has just totally freaked out the woodworms.

  15. Lorraine in Spring says:

    Good Grief.

I’d love to give that nice Mr. Langston my business but, I doubt I’ll ever find myself in those parts of Texas. I prefer the crazzzy exposed in large metro areas where I have options to avoid it when I see it coming.

Good on Mr. Langston. I hate to say this but, I hope he has friends to help keep an eye on him and his store for awhile, though. Sad to say, people like Mr. Thomas don’t tend to react well in these types of situations. You never know who his friends are.

  16. At first read I thought his religion was Vegaism where God speaks to him through the FM band of the radio in his 72 Chevy Vega.

  17. TexasEllen says:

If DeWitt is going to maintain his purity, he needs to start being responsible for his own vittles. About now, that should be a garden full of not much more than zucchini and quite mature okra, but maybe he can regard the forced diet of nature to be curative of something.

    17
  18. I don’t know this for a fact, but I can’t imagine this ever happening in DC. Anybody who did that would be set upon by everybody in the store and the DC police wouldn’t be so accomodating, either. Can’t wait to hear what the Judge has to say about this “suit.” Oughta be a classic!

You should set up link so it is easier to connect your articles to social media sights. FaceBook would be a good start.

  20. I would say that, over the past four years, the latent racism of many in thhis country have grown much more comfortable with their bigotry.

How about the photo of Romney & Ryan, posing in front of the poster of Obama with the text “Obama Isn’t Working”?

Anyone else perceive the not-so-subtle hint of racism in the double entendre?

    20
  21. Hate to rub this in, but given that dear Louie Gohmert is an alumnus of your federal bench down there, I predict that this crayon complaint will tie the court in knots.

    21
  22. Any chance this guy is so stupid he won’t be able to find another grocery store and will starve to death? He sounds like a Darwin Award waiting to happen.

    22
  23. Yeah, East Texas, where a WHITE guy Kidnapped ME – someone I had known for 2 years on a legal case suddenly turned from Hyde to Jekyll….WEIRD People there.

“The town was also famous (or infamous) for a sign that hung over Lee Street, the main street in the downtown district, between the train station and the bus station in the 1920s to 1960s. The banner read “Welcome to Greenville, The Blackest Land, The Whitest People”. The same sentiment was also printed on the city water tower.[6] An image of the sign was available as a postcard.[7]”

Must be something in the water.

Ol’ Dimwit has had his share of trouble. I found this gem in a small websearch, more details as I learn them.

Thomas, Dewitt R., Appellant (and repellent!)
    v.
    Judicial District Court of
    The State of Texas
    Apellee

Appellant pleaded guilty to the offense of assault on a public servant. The trial court assessed punishment at imprisonment for eight years. We have received the trial court’s certification showing that Appellant has no right of appeal. See Tex. R. App. P. 25.2(c)(3)(B). Accordingly, the appeal is dismissed for want of jurisdiction.

    Opinion delivered July 9, 2003.

  27. Mah Fellow Murkuhn says:

The next story I expect to see is a boycott of the Two Rivers Grocery & Mkt by most of the town. They take their racism seriously in east Texas. Having a white business take the side of a dark-skinned employee won’t go down well. That’s a completely un-confederate action, and it must be stopped. It’s bad enough having one in the White House, and that is eating at east Texans with a vengeance, but having someone take their side in their own hometown can’t be allowed. It may not make the news, but people will start buying elsewhere, and I would be surprised if the store is still in business in a year.

    27
  28. Bo:
When I was a kid, I helped an uncle gather junk iron and take it to Greenville to sell.
We passed under the “Blackest land and whitest people” sign many times.
Later I was in the Chelsey Naval Hospital when I met a black chaplain (Navy Captain) from Greenville and I asked him what that sign meant to him.
“Just part of growing up in East Texas, son. Meant nothing.”

    28
  29. Uncle Dave says:

Chipster, The appeal you found was from Wood County, Texas, right next door to Big Sandy, so it could very well involve the same genius. Here in the Lone Star State one cannot plead guilty and then appeal unless he has the trial court’s permission to appeal. In this case DeWitt lacked permission and his appeal was dismissed. Do you suppose while DeWitt was in the “joint” his food, or for that matter his person, was ever touched in a way that offended his beliefs as a practicing Vedist?

  34. This reads like a fairy tale used to frighten us Berkeleyans into staying put. It might be too far away for me to shop there, but if there’s a boycott my check to Langston will be the mail the same day.

    34
  35. Whatta maroon, as Bugs Bunny would say. And hooray for Mr. Langston.

However, to be fair, I should state that I know a fair number of nice, reasonable people from Texas, and that while it would be nice to think this sort of behavior is geographically limited, I’m pretty sure we have people this crazy in Southern Indiana, too.

    35
  36. Unfortunately this story gives you the impression that people from East Texas are racists and rude. Thank God men like Keith Langston show others how real men act. Sadly though I keep reading how people are trashing East Texas. This goobers actions do not reflect on the whole area. Please do not judge us by the actions and words of one DimWitt.

    36
  37. I have to say that this is some of the best news I’ve heard out of the open air insane asylum called East Texas in a very long time.

I mean, lookie, we have a big, fat, dumb white guy, the kind they grow in abundance there, just being his big, fat, dumb self and nobody punched him out for it and a store owner told him to take his bidness elsewhere instead of firing the black kid sacking groceries like they used to do in the south when some big, fat, dumb white guy complained about them being black.

    This is progress to me!
