Okay, Girl, Becoming a Republican Was Your First Mistake
Republican District Court Judge Suzanne Wooten in McKinney, Texas (which is dangerously close to Dallas) was convicted of felony bribery over campaign donations.
It seems that one of the parties in a high dollar divorce settlement in Wooten’s court made $150,000 in payments to Wooten’s campaign manager, who then washed it in the washing machine and gave it to Wooten’s campaign fund. Oddly, there’s laws in Texas against that. Hard to believe, huh?
Pay to play is trickle down crime from the Governor’s office in Texas.
She got 10 years probation, a $10,000 fine and 1,ooo hours of community service. I’ve always wondered why the fine isn’t at least equal to the money taken. I mean, it seems that a $10,000 fine for taking $150,000 is better odds than Vegas gives.
Not oddly, she can continue to practice law until the State Bar reviews her case. Even if she’s disbarred, she “could still work as a mediator, a paralegal or in other areas related to the practice of law.”
Thanks to Mike for the heads up.
