Michigan Supports Bullying Only If Sanctioned By Jesus

I have often said that Republicans are people who are trying to find an ethical justification for greed.

Customer Ralph sent me this new addition to Republicanism:  a moral justification for bullying.

While other states try to reduce bullying in schools, the Republican controlled Michigan legislature has decided that bullying is wrong unless Jesus wants you to do it.

Love one another?  Not so much in Michigan.

Advocates for a law to prohibit bullying and provide school districts with the tools to address the problem were dealt a stinging rebuke Wednesday morning in the Republican-controlled Michigan Senate.

The GOP pushed through an amended bill, SB 137, which does nothing advocates have pushed for — including reporting requirements and enumeration, or listing, of protected classes. In addition, the legislation provides an exception which allows bullying based on “moral convictions.”

The full language of the insert is: “This section does not prohibit a statement of a sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction of a school employee, school volunteer, pupil, or a pupil and parent or guardian.”

The intent of the law is that you can bully homosexuals.  In fact, it’s even encouraged as being “moral” and “sincerely religious.”  It’s kinda your religious duty to make a homosexual student commit suicide.  It would make Michigan Jesus proud.

Be social and share!
