Donald Trump’s latest way to help you eat and pay rent in a tanked economy that isn’t going to get any better unless we offer 3,000 daily human sacrifices to the Economy Gods, is this little do-dad he wants.

President Trump is once more pushing to have his border wall painted black, a design change that is projected to add at least $500 million in costs, according to government contracting estimates obtained by The Washington Post.

Yeah, he wants to paint it black. On the upside, it’s the first time he’s ever wanted anything black. On the downside, $500 million is a good chunk of money for a wall he won’t get completely built and that Mexico was supposed to pay for in the first place.

The military people tried to talk him out of it saying it would cause long-term maintenance problems and expenses, but Trump thinks – get ready for this – panting it black “would enhance its forbidding appearance.”   So, black people, as Trump asked, “what have you got to lose?” Well, for starters ….

Well, come to find out, even though Trump constantly says he was great at high school baseball and could have gone pro … no.  Not even close.

In fact, he was pretty much the kid they picked last for the team.

Slate has managed to unearth nine box scores from Trump’s time at New York Military Academy, which showed a four-for-29 batting record in his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons, with three runs batted in and a single run scored. Trump’s batting average in the nine games Slate found box scores for stood at a disappointing .138.

 

I don’t know many first basemen with a .138 batting average outside of Little League. We could ask Yuli Gurriel if he knows any.

Leaving for Arizona yesterday, a reporter asked Trump why he supported reopening even as cases increase.  He said, “”The whole world is excited, watching us, because we’re leading the world.”  Yes, we are leading the world:

Trump’s delusion is complete.  I would think that the only thing the world is excited about is ridding itself of Donald Trump on November 3 (but only if we do our job).

Today, in a leaked audio of a call with Republican representatives, Greg Abbott admitted that opening up the economy will increase the community spread of COVID-19.  At the same time, he offered up his strawman argument that, since we’ll never get to zero spread, we should open up anyway.  Of course, NO ONE has EVER set the standard of zero spread.  The standard is 14 consecutive days of diminishing new cases, which we are most certainly not experiencing.

This is the same argument that Abbott and other Republicans have used to not do immigration reform.  They keep saying that reform can only happen when undocumented immigration is brought to zero.  They KNOW it will never be at zero, so by default immigration reform will never happen.
