Texas Stuff

March 05, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

For those of you from foreign states, early voting in the Texas primary has been going on for two weeks and election day is tomorrow.  I’ve been kinda busy.

If you are new here and live in Fort Bend County or know someone who does, I am endorsing Sri Preston Kulkarni for Congressional District 22 and Hazel Dorine Lundy for county chair.

Okay, with that out of the way, we have great news about Texas.  This year, we doubled the early voting totals of the last non-presidential primary.  We increased our early voting by 98%.  Republicans increased their’s by 16%.  And that increase has a pony tail and ta-tas: In the GOP primary, 49% of voters are female.  In the Democratic primary, it’s 59%.

Democrats have energized people who have never voted any primary before now.  Of Texas Democratic primary voters, 24% are first time primary voters.  In my county, we have reached into new demographics by running highly qualified Asian and South Asian candidates.

It’s not time to call Texas blue yet and November is a long way away.  But, we see the light at the end of the tunnel and we are running as fast as we can.

One other thing this morning and it’s gosh-awful.  The damn DCCC is damn dumb and damn hurtful to the cause.

The Texas Congressional District 7 is the most flippable district in Texas.  A candidate named Laura Moser came back to Texas from Washington DC to run for the seat.  She’s not my favorite candidate in the race.  She’s about my 3rd or 4th favorite candidate  Come to find out, she was polling a  distant fourth until … damn DCCC.

The DCCC ran an attack ad against her on their website.

If there is one thing Democrats in Texas hate more than Republicans, it’s the DCCC.  I’ll tell you stories about that later but take my word for it right now.  Moser was able to raise a bucketload of money on that alone and got more press time than she was ever entitled to.  Now it looks like she has a decent shot to make it to the runoff on the DCCC alone.

Do not give the DCCC any money.  Do not even look them straight in the eye because that might be dangerous, too. I have been ranting against them since 2006 but it hasn’t done much good.

And there you have it.  Pray for Texas.  Every damn day.

Kentucky is Mighty Proud of Their Teen Brides

March 04, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

So, there’s Kentucky.  You know, where a man’s gotta do what man’s gotta do and woman’s gotta get married at 16 years old.

Kentucky Republicans killed off a bill designed to limit child marriage.  Anna know why?  Because it’s damn anti-American to restrict what a parent can do.

As it stands, minors in Kentucky can marry at 16 or 17 with a parent’s permission and teens under 16 can marry with a judge’s permission. The new bill would change this to 18 but allow 17-year-olds to marry if they got permission of a judge and the age difference between the spouses was less than four years.

Parents with better things to spend money on than a 16 year old girl, can now marry her off to a predator or Kentucky’s version of Roy Moore, with only a signature.

Sumbitches.

Thanks to Sarah for the heads up.

When Bad Things Happen to Really Bad People

March 03, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Y’all, Roy Moore is broke.  He’s having to beg for money because he “can barely make ends meet” and he has staggering legal bills.

Writing on Facebook Moore raged, “I have lawyers who want to help but they are not without cost and besides their fees, legal expenses could run over $100,000. The liberal media, in association with some who want to destroy our country do not want my influence in the 2018 elections and are doing everything they can to stop me.

“Gays, lesbians, and transgenders have joined forces with those who believe in abortion, sodomy, and destruction of all that we hold dear. Unless we stand together we will lose our country,” he added as an inducement to get help paying his bills.

I hope you guys are fully ashamed of what you have done with your sodomite destruction of dear things that Roy is holding.  Or, maybe you’re giggling like me.

Let’s send Roy our thoughts and prayers.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

In a Stunning Coincidence

Billionaire Carl Icahn dropped $31.3 million dollars of stock in Manitowoc Company Inc. on February 22, only days before Trump announced heavy tariffs on imported steel.  Manitowoc is heavily dependent on steel manufacturing.  Icahn sold the stock at around $33, but it dropped to $26 after Trump’s announcement.

Before February, Icahn was not actively trading Manitowoc stock. According to regulatory filings, he did not buy or sell any shares of Manitowoc between January 17, 2015 and February 11, 2018.

But Icahn suddenly out of nowhere ups and decides to shed all this stock all at once.

Hummmm … you’d think he knew Donald Trump.

And you’d, of course, be right.

Icahn, a billionaire investor with far-flung holdings, is a close associate of Trump — who invoked Icahn’s name repeatedly on the campaign trail. Once in office, Trump installed Icahn as a “special adviser,” although Icahn did not not unwind his business entanglements before accepting the position.

Icahn resigned as special adviser last August shortly before the New Yorker hinted that Icahn was using this long friendship withTrump to enrich himself.

Now all this gets really weird when you remember that Trump had to hide from everybody on his staff that he was going to raise the tariffs.  Maybe, just maybe, he and Carl had a secret.

Maybe.

In “King Icahn,” a 1993 biography, the author, Mark Stevens, described his subject as a “germophobic, detached, relatively loveless man,” and quoted one contemporary saying, “Carl’s dream in life is to have the only fire truck in town. Then when your house is in flames, he can hold you up for every penny you have.”

Yep, twins.

Thanks to Billy for the heads up.

Book Club Emergency Meeting Announced

March 02, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Y’all, Monica kept a dress, but Hope Hicks kept … a damn diary!

Book deals are coming at her like fastballs in the World Series.  One agent said …

According to a White House insider, Hicks has been secretly keeping what was described as a ‘detailed diary of her White House work, and her interactions with the president.’

‘The thing is,’ the source tells Daily Mail, ‘Hope’s one of Donald Trump’s most  loyal colleagues and friends. She’s not one to destroy that relationship.

Yeah, maybe not for money from a book deal but, you know, Mueller subpoena.
