Ah, This Ain’t a New Thing
Here ya go –
Republicans and spelling go together like orange juice and toothpaste.

If there was any shred of doubt about Donald Trump’s utter and total corruption, this story will disabuse any belief to the contrary. Today, Andrew McCabe, Deputy Director of the FBI and acting director after Comey was fired last year, abruptly announced his retirement 2 months early. Sarah Sanders, in a statement of the If My Lips Are Moving That Means I’m Lying category, denied (on national television) any involvement of the White House in McCabe’s leaving today. As we already knew, that was yet another whopper of a lie, and it’s now been confirmed that he was forced out by Trump appointee Christopher Wray and put on leave until his official retirement in March.
The takeover of the leadership and politicization of the FBI is now complete, and the only thing that stands between us and fascism are the remaining honest agents within the agency, and the courts, which are also being rapidly politicized.
I fear our republic won’t last until January 20, 2021.
Less than two weeks after the House approved the tax revision, Chales Koch and his wife donated almost half a million dollars to Paul Ryan’s joint fundraising committee.
Less than two weeks.
Pay off is not only large, it’s fast.
(Click the little one to see the big one.)
In June, mega-donors in the Koch political network had threatened to withhold contributions to GOP members of Congress unless they repealed Obamacare and passed tax reform.
Well, a large shout of glee came from Republicans members of congress as they sold their souls.
Thanks to Deb for the heads up.
Another Republican House member jumps ship.
Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-N.J.), the chairman of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, announced Monday that he will not seek reelection in an increasingly competitive district.
This makes him the 9th Republican committee chairman to announce retirement in the 115th Congress. Let’s go for 10!
The Democratic candidate will more than likely be Mikie Sherrill—a former federal prosecutor and Navy veteran—was identified by the DCCC as part of the “Red to Blue” program, “an initiative by the campaign committee to flip Republican districts nationwide.” That means they will spend money on this race.
I will say one thing, if Republicans keep dropping out, they sure are making it hard for Russia to win this election.
So here’s the deal. You probably didn’t hear about this. I didn’t, and I only know about it because someone else named Susan gave me a heads up.
This story comes to us from a newspaper in the Czech Republic.
Five US Congressmen representing the Republican Party have requested a meeting in Prague with Tomio Okamura, the leader of an extreme right wing party, the Movement of Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD)
These US Congressmen have chosen to meet with Tomio Okamura, who is well known for calling for the banning of Islam and ‘external manifestations of Islam.’ The SPD’s parliamentary party secretary has called for the gassing of Jews, gays and Roma.
According to Okamura’s press release, “they will discuss topics of bi-lateral and global importance, including European policy which concerns demographic changes, migration and immigration”.
So, they are meeting with a certified lifetime guaranteed Nazi to discuss demographic changes, migration, and immigration. Now, what red-blooded American would meet with this guy?
Okay, I’m pretty certain you can guess at least three out of five of the congressmen who were scheduled to attend, but here is a list in case you get stuck.
Steve King (R-IA)
Andy Harris (R-MD)
Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA)
Louie Gohmert (R-Texas)
Paul Gosar (R-AZ)
The meeting got cancelled because of “ongoing budgetary problems in the US Congress.” Thank God.
I have an idea if it gets rescheduled. Let’s start a Go Fund Me Account to bribe Okamura to keep these five guys and open a hamburger joint.
Thanks to the other Susan for the heads up.
The Texas State Republican executive committee voted on Saturday to censure outgoing speaker Joe Strauss for standing up for human and equal rights. Hard right goons were very frustrated last session when Strauss stood in the way of Patrick’s asinine Bathroom Bill and other bills that did nothing to help anyone but homophobic white supremacists. More amazing? The censure vote took a 2/3rds majority to pass, and they got it. One of those opposing the censure vote was Michael McCloskey of Cedar Park who said, “The Republican Party of Texas has changed into something most mainstream Republicans would not recognize.”
That statement wins the day for the most understatement.
