Donald Trump is now saying that he never compared other counties to latrines.
And this weekend, two Southern Republican senators who were in the Trump meeting are reversing their position and now contending that Trump didn’t say it.
U.S. Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., who was in that meeting with Trump, made a course correction. On Friday, the senator put out a joint statement with Senate colleague Tom Cotton, R-Ark. Both said they couldn’t remember the president comparing Third World nations to latrines.
Couldn’t remember? Really? Is your memory machine in need of tinkering?
I guess Perdue heard the snickering so he took a third position:
This morning [Sunday], Perdue said it never happened. “I’m telling you he did not use that word, George. And I’m telling you it’s a gross misrepresentation. How many times do you want me to say that?”
Well, maybe enough times to make it true?
Meanwhile, conservation radio talk host host Eric Erickson, tweeted.
Apparently, rightwing Republican Southern senators are no longer in the base.
