In the most recent issue, Judith Thurman of The New Yorker interviewed by email retired novelist Philip Roth about his 2004 book The Plot Against America. Given the “absolute disaster” (Cheeto Jesus’ words, not mine) that has been unfolding before us on national television, Roth’s work is especially prescient.  The setting of the novel is 1940 through 1942 where American icon Charles Lindbergh, with the aid of Nazi meddling in the election, defeats FDR who was running for a third term.  Because of the meddling in the election, it is feared that Lindbergh was susceptible to blackmail by the Nazis.

The historic Lindbergh was a strong isolationist, was the first to coin the “America First” motto that CJ borrowed, and publicly admired Hitler.  His (more…)

One of the best things that ever happened to me is when my friend Vickie learned to use a camera phone.

Vickie is uncomfortable unless there’s wheels turning under her. She goes everywhere and does everything. She also has a good eye for things I like.

I guess I have been spending too much time wondering where all those “We’re Christians” Republicans have gone, when the “American Exceptionalism” Republicans have disappeared, too.  You know, the thing that Obama didn’t have.  Now that there’s a white man in the white house we don’t need no damn exceptionalism.

There’s a leak from Donald Trump’s interview with Bill O’Reilly later today.

O’Reilly then said about Putin: “But he’s a killer, though. Putin’s a killer.”

Trump responded: “There are a lot of killers. We’ve got a lot of killers. What do you think? Our country’s so innocent?”

I guess members of the media should get the message.  I’m not sure what the message is but it has nothing to do with American Exceptionalism.

I gave up years ago trying to make sense of crazy people. They’re crazy and you know that because they don’t make no damn sense.

This week, Kellyanne Conway reminded us of the victims of the Bowling Green Massacre where Iraqi immigrants killed a lot of people.  Concerned citizens have set up a fund to help the unfortunate families of these victims so tragically killed by radical Islamic terrorists on our own soil.  Please, give now and give generously.
