And Mustard Gas Would Be Great on Hot Dogs!

Do you know what you get when you cross Megyn Kelly with Bill O’Reilly?  I dunno, but it’s double dumb.

Megyn and Bill could defend Stalin, should the need arise.  They were discussing the gourmet elements of pepper spraying innocent students —

Last night on Fox News, anchor Megyn Kelly joined Bill O’Reilly to assess just how much the protesters at UC Davis deserved to get pepper-sprayed while staging a nonviolent protest last week. “First of all, pepper spray — that just burns your eyes, right?” O’Reilly asks Kelly, the legal (and apparently chemical) expert. “It’s like a derivative of actual pepper,” she responds. “It’s a food product, essentially.”

Yes, and a gun is just a hole punch for paper, essentially.

If I lead a good life, when I die and go to heaven I’ll get to waterboard and pepper spray Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly.  That’s why I am as good as I can be every day.

Fox News Steals IQ Points and Eats Brains

November 22, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

We’ve known it all along, but now we have numbers.

People who watch Fox News are 18 points dumber than people who watch no news at all.

But the real finding is that the results depend on what media sources people turn to for their news. For example, people who watch Fox News, the most popular of the 24-hour cable news networks, are 18-points less likely to know that Egyptians overthrew their government than those who watch no news at all (after controlling for other news sources, partisanship, education and other demographic factors).

Fox News watchers are also 6-points less likely to know that Syrians have not yet overthrown their government than those who watch no news. “Because of the controls for partisanship, we know these results are not just driven by Republicans or other groups being more likely to watch Fox News,” said Dan Cassino, a professor of political science at Fairleigh Dickinson and an analyst for the PublicMind Poll. “Rather, the results show us that there is something about watching Fox News that leads people to do worse on these questions than those who don’t watch any news at all.”

The study also found that people who read the New York Times of even USA Today show an 11 point improvement in correct information over those who watch no news at all.

But the Grand Prize winner:  The Daily Show.

… but the biggest aid to answering correctly is The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, which leads to a 6-point decrease in identifying the protestors as Republicans, and a 12-point increase in the likelihood of giving the correct answer.

Yep, Jon is off this week and I already feel dumber.

Thanks to Sandy for the heads-up!

Tranquility Park? Not So Much.

November 22, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Occupy Wall Street Houston is camping at Tranquility Park downtown.  It’s a lovely park and they are working hard to keep it that way.

Last night, Tranquility Park — not so much tranquility.   An obviously disturbed man brought a rifle to the park and began firing, not at the OWS folks, but just firing at random.

The Houston Police Department downtown bicycle team  was on the scene faster than double geared lightening.  They brought the armed crazy man down with a shot to the leg and arm.

The incident, which saw bullets flying in a small, populated area during the after-work rush was over in a matter of minutes.

Witnesses said though the gunman pointed his rifle at people gathered in the park, he did not appear to be targeting the Occupy movement because he walked right by the main encampment on his way to the bridge.

Mayor Parker and Random Big Fan

The Houston Police Department protected the protesters.  Houston has a Demcoratic mayor.  She’s read the Constitution and kinda likes it.

As I watched the UC Davis campus, I kept asking myself, When are these cops going to realize that they are not the 1%?  When will it click that these kids are protesting the economic injustice of being a cop?  When will they realize that they are are on the same side as the protesters.  I know what a cop makes and they cannot afford to send their kids to college at UC Davis.

One day, I swear to it, one day a cop will click and realize that the OWS movement is about him.  And maybe that will start in Houston.

My Cup Runneth Over Hourly Newt

Okay, so Newt has turned to be manna from heaven for Democrats.

Now he thinks child labor laws are stupid.

He wants elementary school children to be the janitors at their schools. You know, so they’ll have a job skill when they graduate.

Yep, just what Newt needs – more janitors to clean up his messes.

I Have Very Funny Friends

Kary sent me this and asked, “Do you think Newt would say they should get a bath and a job?”

And David says he’s going to ask his congressman if pepper spray is a vegetable now.

Thanks to Kary and David for doing my job.

He’s Dead, But He Won’t Lay Down

Bless Rick Perry’s little tiny precious lace-trimmed heart.  He doesn’t realize that it’s closing time and even with a sack on his head, he ain’t going home with anybody.

I checked around to see where he is today because whatever he’s doing to draw a crowd ain’t working.  They say his campaign manager is in New Hampshire on an apology tour, and with Rick polling at 3% in New Hampshire I seriously doubt that his “Baby, baby, I’m so sorry and I won’t do that again” line is working very well.

He finagled his wife to call President Obama a socialist, too.  But, nobody likes a whiny pimp, so that helped about as much as a screen door on a submarine.

He’s still running those ads fibbing about President Obama saying Americans are lazy.

He’s doing a whole lot of praying and Amen! shouting.  I do not know if he’s doing any footwashing or snake handling but he might ought to.

I still hold a flame in my heart that Rick Perry will make a comeback and be the GOP nominee.  I need the material.
