It’s East Texas Radio

September 20, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

You know how radio stations have a format?  You know, like classic rock, heavy metal, all Manilow all the time, news and talk, Christian music, country, I think you get the point here without breaking my brain trying to think of them all.

Well, in East Texas they have a radio station that applies for an FCC license as a “bigot gusher.”

David Barton

An affiliate radio station of the Moody Network in East Texas, KBJS-FM canceled David Barton’s Wallbuilders Live radio program during the show yesterday while Barton was discussing Glenn Beck’s religious beliefs. Randy Featherston, KBJS manager, said the show was dropped due to Barton’s failure to distinguish between Mormon theology and Christianity.

“When David Barton said it doesn’t matter whether you are a Mormon or a Baptist or a Methodist, we felt we had to do something,” Featherston explained.

Okay, so they canceled a guy on air, live, because he said that Mormons are Christians.  Or, it could have been the Methodist thing, I dunno.

But, the very fun part of all this is the subject matter:  Glenn Beck.

On the Tuesday program, Barton played audio of Glenn Beck saying that “the Lord Jesus Christ is my Savior and my Redeemer.” Then Barton said he believed that Beck was a Christian based on his statement of belief and “his fruits,” meaning his good deeds.

Glenn Beck is not conservative enough for them.

Stunning, ain’t it?

But wait, there’s more.  Free!  Totally free, you get this amazing statement to show your friends and family:

Featherston said the station did not take the action lightly, saying “I like a lot of what Barton has to say, but we don’t want to confuse listeners into thinking that Mormon doctrine and Christianity are the same.”

We can’t be confusing people with this citified new fangled thing called “thought” or “ideas,” you know.  No, siree.  East Texas will remain totally safe from wild eyed ideas from those damned theological libruls like David Barton, who is freekin’ most rightwing Super DeLux Brand Christian in all of Texas and parts of Oklahoma.

Good Lord, I have come to believe that it’s just a little harder to make an evangelist out of an idiot than it is to make an idiot out of an evangelist.

Thanks to Ralph for the heads-up.

Lindsey Graham Pleads Deaf, Dumb, and Blind With a Dong

September 20, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Juanita says she’s wondering why foreign donations to US elections would be illegal?  “Hell, all campaign accounts are is a money vacuum.  United States Congressvarmints sit around all day vacuuming money from anybody, anywhere, all the time.”

How else are they going to pay for their yachts?

However, when it gets to the point that they are taking $30,000 in illegal money and can claim with a straight face that they didn’t know it, they might have no business being trusted with the people’s money.

Lindsey Graham.

Okay, wipe that grin off your face.  Juanita is enjoying this just a tad too much and I know you are, too.

A Mount Pleasant business owner faces a multi-count federal indictment for a scheme to donate thousands of dollars in illegal campaign money to the re-election campaign of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham.

Federal authorities allege in April indictments that were unsealed Monday that Jian-Yun “John” Dong took more than $30,000 from a German national and funneled the money through illegal sources from 2007-09 to support Graham’s re-election campaign.

It is inappropriate to snicker that self-righteous Lindsey Graham took $30,000 in illegal campaign contributions from a German Dong.  Totally inappropriate.

Nobody should put that on a big billboard in his district.  Nobody should make a teevee commercial with a talking German Dong shoving money to Lindsay.  Nobody should greet Lindsay with, “Yo, Cap’n Sanctimonious, how’s your German Dong?”

We are adults.  We will not do that.

Thanks for the heads-up to Alfredo over at the Dairy Queen who needs to warn me about these things before I have coffee in my mouth.

High fives all around, please!

Adding Insult, Dumb, and Crazy to Injury

As noted recently, there are 550,000 Texans working full time and making $15,000 a year.

But, they are still far better off than Republican Congressidiot John Fleming who went on MSNBC to talk about his hardships without getting new tax breaks.

“By the time I feed my family, I have maybe $400,000 left over.”

No, seriously, you can hear him yourself.

However, if you question why he might need more tax breaks, he calls it “class warfare.” No, seriously.

CLASS WARFARE?  Listen up, Captain Greed, you bet your sweet butt that it’s class warfare because we’re weary of class annihilation.  We’re fighting back.

Being Poor in Texas is Like Tap Dancing in a Mine Field

September 19, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

The Texas miracle is that Rick Perry calls it a miracle.

CNN Money says that the fastest growing crop in Texas is poverty on the vine.

While it’s true that Texas is responsible for 40% of the jobs added in the U.S. over the past two years, its poverty rate also grew faster than the national average in 2010.

Texas ranks 6th in terms of people living in poverty. Some 18.4% of Texans were impoverished in 2010, up from 17.3% a year earlier, according to Census Bureau data released this week. The national average is 15.1%.

And while Texas did do well in job production, it’s jobs that pay poverty wages. In the past 4 years, we have doubled the number of workers who are making minimum wage.  More than half a million Texans are paid $7.25 an hour or less.  That’s about $15,000 a year, if the job is full time.

And being poor in Texas is harder than herding a swarm of bees through a snowstorm.  Rick Perry expects barefooted children to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

Our unemployment rate is up.  Our poverty rate is up.  But, goodgawdalmighty, our Governor is up in the polls, so it’s all pretty much worth it.

Thanks to Stephen and David  for the heads up.

George Dubya Still Spreading Joy and Happiness

September 19, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

While the staff and customers often wonder aloud, “What is George Bush doing today?”, we have been given some clues to his whereabouts.

It’s been two years since he left office and still nobody wants him around.  Almost sadly, an evangelical Christian university in Canada asked him to lay down some tracks in the direction of outta here.

A rich industrialist in Canada paid for Bush to attend a small gathering as a fundraiser for the university.  All tarnation broke loose.

The following day, a class valedictorian and professor spoke out passionately against the visit. The university also confirmed “a valued employee” quit in protest.

Critics accused Tyndale of sacrificing its peaceful ideals to attract wealthy donors with the exclusive event. Many students and alumni also complained they only heard about the high-profile appearance through the news.

“They’re still not even saying his name on their web page,” said Dan Oudshoorn, a former student body president who graduated in 2006 and was part of the group that launched the petition. “I think it shows they were really trying to sneak in a cash grab through a means they know is dirty, they got busted doing it and now they’re trying to sneak back out again without taking responsibility.”

Wait a minute.  They sent out an invitation to the event but were too ashamed to put Dubya’s name on their webpage?

“Honey, that feeling runs from Del Rio, Texas, to Toronto, Canada,” Juanita smiles.  “Dubya still leaves a trail of slime and the distinct odor of dumb everywhere he goes.”

Thanks to Carl, who almost lives in Canada, for the heads-up.
