Why, Oh Why

Why do the Republicans make it so easy for us?

And, if you’re bored, the Pro-Yacht crowd is telling me that I just don’t get it.  Giving tax breaks to yachts over $250,000 creates jobs, they say.  Yeah, so does legalized prostitution, but I don’t see you Republicans pushing that real hard.  Oh wait, I guess you are.

Paul Ryan Went To College?

So, I read this story about the height of hypocrisy concerning Paul Ryan —

When Representative Paul Ryan was 16 years old , tragedy struck his family. His 55 year old father had passed away from a heart attack.

After his father’s passing, young Paul Ryan started collecting social security benefits until the age of 18 years old. He took this benefit and saved it for his college education. Representative Paul Ryan is one example of the millions of people whose lives have depended on our social contract with the American people. Without this benefit, his mother would have had to make even tougher decisions and Representative Paul Ryan may not have been able to pay for his college education. This social contract lifted him and his entire family out of a tough situation.

Paul Ryan went to college?  Did he do the reading assignments?

I Am Not A Doctor, But I Did Sleep At A Corporate Financed Hoity Toity Hotel Last Night

Don A sent me an email this morning about Texas Congressvarmint Smokey Joe Barton and pollution.   Joe says that he’s not a doctor, but best his corporate sponsors have told him, air pollution is good for you.  At the very least, it won’t hurt you none at all.  In fact, you should probably pay them to come pollute in your town.  It’d grow hair on your chest and make all your girls pretty.

Now you know why they call him Smokey Joe.

To actually cause poisoning or a premature death you have to get a large concentration of mercury into the body. I’m not a medical doctor, but my hypothesis is that’s not going to happen! You’re not going to get enough mercury exposure or SO2 exposure or even particulate matter exposure! I think the EPA numbers are pulled out of the thin air!

Smokey Joe:  never met a polluter he didn’t like.

School Superintendents And Other Money Pits

Juanita has often said that when she’s elected Queen of Texas, public school superintendents shall not be allowed to make more than 3 times the salary of the district’s lowest paid certified teacher.  And they will get the same benefits package of a classroom teacher.

If you don’t agree with her or even see it as a problem, head on over to the Texas Tribune and get yourself a slap upside the head.  They have the contracts of the 10 highest paid superintendents in Texas.

“It’s damn stunning,” Juanita warns.

Get Even Now. No Lines, No Waiting.

All you people from foreign states, listen up.

If Texas has ever done you wrong.  If we have beat your college football team, sent you a bad President of the United States, raised oil prices, made fun of your wimpy little state, or hacked you off in some way, now is the time to get even.

Come piss on us.

Please.

Now the Texas Lege is going to want to arm kindergartners to protect themselves.

HOUSTON — A kindergartener brought a gun to his Houston elementary school and was among three students injured by fragments when it dropped from his pocket during lunchtime and accidentally fired, officials said.

One bullet discharged about 11 a.m. in the school’s cafeteria, spraying fragments at the students, said Houston Independent School District Assistant Police Chief Robert Mock.

You sit back and watch.  The gun nuts are going to say that stuff like this happens because people don’t have enough guns and that if we had more guns and fewer gun laws, stuff like this wouldn’t happen.
