Sarah Said It

Juanita wonders if Sarah Palin has had a ironyectomy.

“She just doesn’t get irony,” Juanita says.  “But, most on the wacko right don’t.”

It appears that Sarah complained about the Democrats in Wisconsin —

“Yeah, they absolutely should be fired. They should be recalled,” Palin told Pirro, about the missing senators. “They’ve retreated. It’s not like they’re reloading. They’ve retreated. They’re not doing their job.”

Duh.

Lemme think, who else quit their job and left ……?

It was a governor.  I’m almost sure of that.

If I Say It’s Easter, You Better Hide Some Damn Eggs

Juanita knows wherewith whatsay she’s talking about.

Remember a week ago when she told you about Southwest Securities and the little scam with municipal securities that they’ve been running?

Well, the big boys just now figured it out.

Southwest Securities will halt the practice of paying former Texas municipal securities officials to obtain underwritings from Texas cities, FINRA announced in an agreement reached with the securities firm.

Brad Bennett, FINRA executive vice president, said Southwest Securities’ practice “threatened to compromise the integrity of the municipal securities market.”

In a statement, James Ross, Southwest Securities chief executive officer, said the “settlement is in the best interest of our firm, our shareholders and our clients.”

“Well, Honey, Juanita grins, “I don’t know if it’s in the best interest of your firm, clients, and shareholders being as how you had to pay a half million dollar fine, but it sure is in the best interests of America.”

“Damn, Darlin’, Texas is building crooks with connections to congressmen faster than we can lasso them.”

I am told that in Dallas they call this The Nightmare on Elm Street because the location of the firm is 1201 Elm Street.

Rally In Austin Today To Save Texas Education

The rally in Austin today to fight Governor Rick Perry and the Republican dominated Lege over Texas education was a tremendous success.  The crowd was at least 11,000 brave souls ready to stand up for Texas education.

As promised, I have pictures.

The first picture I have is for our friend and customer Bud Malone.  Bud’s going through a pretty rough patch right now and he needs all your good thoughts.  He wanted to come to the rally but he couldn’t, so This One’s For You, Bud.

And this was my personal sign that I brought.

One of my personal favorites —

And you can’t beat this one with a turbo beater set to ultrabeatarama on National Beating Day.

Comparisons were drawn

There was some cussin’

And some simple truths —

A little Texas Bragging turned upside down —

Some stabs at the clown —

Some adorable children —-

And enjoying the water after all that work.

And it’s Texas so we have some fine-lookin’ fillies with great shirt —

And some new friends.  That’s Karen hanging out with the wrong crowd.

A sweet momma telling the truth —

Some folks with a lot to say —

But the one you had to line-up to take a picture of?  This one.

DeLay Still Headed To Jail

March 11, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

The judge in the Tom DeLay trial has refused Tom’s motion for a new trial. In regular language that means Tom lost the first round but many more are to come.

However, as of today, Tom is still headed to jail for three years.

Taking To The Streets

If you live in Texas, you know that tomorrow everybody is showing up at the State Capitol building to tell them that We. Have.  Had it. with cuts to Texas public education.

The rally starts at noon and they’re expecting you to be there, especially if you’re big and take up a lot of space.

Here’s the weather report:  perfect.

You can bring your own signs but I am pretty darn near certain that there will be extras there for you to wave around if you’re short of poster board and markers today.  And if you are, what the hell kind of progressive are you?

BOJ’s (Buddies of Juanita) are moving our usual meet-up eatery to Meyer’s Smokehouse in Elgin (pronounced el-gun by locals), about 20 miles from the capitol building, because it’ll be less crowded than downtown Austin what with SXSW going on plus this gathering.  Plus, Meyer’s is big and they have the best sausage in Texas.  If you’re not a sausage eater, their ribs, beef, and turkey will make your tongue dance.

Meyers website says, “Look for us at 188 US Hwy 290, 24 miles east of Austin. As with any great attraction, they’ve built a McDonalds right next door.”  So, after the rally, make your way to Meyers and find a sitting place in the big room.  We’ll meet you there!
