And then there’s this “second amendment remedy” in Florida.
Angered that a Walmart employee refused to honor a “dollar-off” coupon, a Florida woman allegedly retrieved a handgun from her car and waved the weapon at several store employees, police allege.
And then she got chased by the police and tried to draw down on them saying, “You’re not taking my gun!” Guess who won that argument? She did have a permit to carry, so maybe she didn’t listen in class.
Listen here, couponers are serious people. I saw that show on teevee and they scare me.
And the Texas topper is State Rep. Dan Flynn, who thinks that what is wrong with America is that handgun permit classes just take too damn long.
House Bill 47 would cut the ten hour CHL class requirement down to four hours. If you want to renew your CHL, under House Bill 48 you would no longer need a four hour refresher course, you could just renew online.
“As it is right now, you have to take a day off of work to be able to go do it. Or take a whole Saturday off. I think the big deal is more Texans will be able to make the class, go through the program with the background check and be able to carry,” Rep. Flynn said.
Yeah, we got chicken to fry, yards to mow, neighbors to argue with, and have you seen the damn lines at WalMart? Give give us our deadly weapons and let us get on with refrigerator shootin’.

The person/people who were burglarized will now think they were smart to keep loaded guns laying around. Never mind that the burglar could have used the guns to shoot them if they had caught him in the act. They’ll never consider that. They’ll go on happily believing they would have had the upper hand if they had been there. Guess it turned out that the guns had the upper hand.
1Back when I took my CHL class ,we had several people who wanted to know if it was OK to shoot people who they think we’re breaking the law. One wanted to shoot graffiti spray painters. I pointed out that you would not know if it was thier own property they were painting. He said he had not thought of that…..My instructors made it clear “you are not a police officer”
210 hours is not enough time for some of the students to understand what they can or can not do.
The lady in Florida…. (is it the sun that does this to people)? Clearly what she needed from Walmart was something……. that would have had to have been prescribed by a physician.
I would be surprised to find that you could download $1.00 off coupons for tranqualizers….. like Valium…. or what are the “designer ones of the day”…. Xanex (? sp.) or Prozac.
Heck, maybe she just wanted a box of bullets for her gun. People are trying to give tax breaks, whatever on buying guns …. maybe they are also doing $1.00 off coupons…

5I’m beginning to think that some of those brave souls that work at Walmart deserve a medal of honor.
6What people don’t realize is part of that 10 hours is the instructor looking over the students and making sure they think each student is in their right mind to get the certificate. The horror stories I’ve heard at work about folks who’ve passed the background check but showed up very scary to class are not funny. And yes, trying to instill some common sense into the general population is one of their more difficult teaching chores.
