You Need Proof? I’ve Got Proof.

July 24, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

We were driving to Austin yesterday and right outside of east Austin is a place where folks set up shop to sell their peaches, watermelons, pecans, yard art, and flags to passing motorists.

I saw this this and made Ole Bubba turn around and go back so I could get a picture.

You might have to open this photo in a new tab to see it in its fully glory gory.

The side facing the road is 90% confederate flags.  Maybe one or two American flags, a Texas flag or two, and some Come and Get It banners.  And there proudly is the Donald J Trump roadside headquarters.  See the flag on the far right.  Yeah, far, far right.

This isn’t a run for the presidency – it’s a redneck self-help program.  Donald J Trump is gonna fix their lives.  Their wives will quit running around with the bartender over at the icehouse and come home to do the dishes and start cooking like a normal woman should.  Their bosses will quit complaining about them showing up for work hung over.  Donald J Trump will send a Mexican over to do their yard work for free.  He’ll make taxes a thing of the past and bail bonds will be totally free under a Trump administration.  The nasty guy at MasterCard will quit calling for payment and happily extend their credit because … well, they are white.  They will automatically be given a complimentary two ton Chevy truck every three years as their birthright.

Under a Donald J Trump presidency, political correctness is over and it becomes okay to make fun of retards, queers, ugly people, and people born with no legs.  However, small fingers will never be okay to mention.

You know how Trump taunts his enemies?  He will also do that for you.  He will come to your house and call your mother-in-law a loser.

Every day under a King Donald J Trump will be like a six hour erection and no emergency rooms.

Be social and share!

What is that USA flag in the center with blue instead of red stripes? Is it supposed to mean “something” in the snacilbupeR world. Got to hit Google now.

  2. Don’t forget the free Trump phones for the rednecks. They deserve it since they didn’t get any of the free Obama phones.

It’s cruel to make fun of brain-damaged people; but under the circumstances, you may be excused. Fox News Derangement Syndrome, fear, and entitlement are a potent combination. It’s curable, but you have to actually listen to other people, so a cure is rare.

That roadside GOP HQ. Almost looks like the one in Mesa AZ.

Done Googling. Apparently it is a BLACK flag with one blue stripe referencing law enforcement as the “thin blue line.” I think that disrespects the American flag. And I have three close family members who are retired from law enforcement.

    5
  6. That flag with “Trump” in reverse looks suspiciously like the Russian word for rogue, rascal, cheat, knave, crook, juggler: “плут.” Coincidence? I think not.

I highly recommend Jim Wright’s article on Tim Kaine. Any reservations I had about Mrs Clinton (neocons, y’all) are done. And I now have some excellent ammunition in my quiver for interchanges w naysayers, especially Catholic naysayers (family, y’all) for which I am enthusiastically grateful! Great work Mrs Clinton! You have renewed my crusading spirit! If you are tepid, Jim’s article will invigorate you, if you are a fan, it will increase your admiration, plus you get to be smug and say “See?! I told you so!” I can’t remember the last time Mr Wright wrote such a positive and upbeat column, either. His sense of humor is far more biting and grim than our own political godess’s which is why I come here so often: between Juanita’s columns and Primo’s occasional guesting and all of the fun and witty hilarious commentary this place keeps me sane!

And all of it brought to you by Putin and the Russian oligarchs who are backing Trump!

  9. maryelle says:

I wholeheartedly agree with Aggieland Liz. After hearing his uplifting speech in Florida, reading Jim Wright’s article just bowled me over. Kaine is the real deal. He has spent his life doing good, instead of just talking like a progressive.
You come away with a sense of the possible for progress in our country. Hillary done good!

  12. You don’t have to tell me. I drove that way a few years ago and came to a spot where traffic was backed up because of what looked like a go-kart competition except that the go-karts were ATVs. Both sides of the highway were lined with US flags about 5 ft apart for probably 300 yards, and one side had a long stretch of signs with some happy sentiment like “Impeach Obama” on them.

Of course, this isn’t far from the territory where people were terrified of Jade Helm.

On the other hand, I posted this link (http://www.thedenverchannel.com/decodedc/mr-president-on-behalf-of-an-ungrateful-nation-thank-you) to Facebook a couple of days ago, and a high school classmate that I would have expected to be as Snacilbuper as they come thanked me for posting and observed that too few Texans feel that way.

    Maybe there’s hope.

    12
  13. AliceBeth says:

Well, I believe you have described it perfectly. There are of course those Black and Hispanic people who apparently do not think he means them when he says all those racist things. I do not understand how any person of color, veteran or active military or woman could support him.

    13
  14. That Other Jean says:

@ Aggieland Liz: Thank you! I read Stonekettle Station regularly, but hadn’t seen Jim Wright’s latest post. I knew that Tim Kaine had a 0% Lifetime Rating from the American Conservative Union, and an F from the NRA, but I hadn’t realized all the other good, progressive stuff he’d done in Virginia. He wasn’t my first choice for VP, but I feel a lot better about it now. Hillary Clinton really knows what she’s doing.

    14
  15. AliceBeth says:

Also, I would not take produce or art from a place like that if they were giving it away….I would not stop.

  17. All them pr-Trumpers have been described by some as plain ordinary salt of the earth with a bad case of distemper. That alone would make it impossible to convert them. Add this. Where I come from we have an old saying to describe the same bunch: salt of the earth but not very deep. Let me go a bit further than that: as deep as the thickness of a 3 x 5 inch card. In sum, depth that just ain’t there.

    Go Hill! Go Tim!

  19. I’m glad to see they’re holding mini Blue Collar Republican Conventions around the countryside, for supporters who couldn’t afford to fill up the gas tanks of their big pickup trucks ten or twelve times for the drive to Cleveland.

Don’t forget your Trump Gas Card after the election. It’ll take you anywhere you want to go.

    19
  20. My nightmare is in a Trump America there will be internment camps for anyone considered divergent. with his insanity there will be nothing to stop him.

    20
  21. Dang, that photo makes me glad I live in the Maryland suburbs, and gives me the feeling I should maybe stay out of the Eastern Shore and western Maryland for a while just in case. This was a border state, after all, and it’s hard to get rid of that slaver mentality sometimes. Especially when a loudmouthed jackwagon is given a big fat public stage to promote it again.

I was about to say that I look forward to the return of sanity once this is over, but the ugly hatred that’s bubbled to the surface of the septic tank since Obama was elected may subside but will not be forgotten or soon eradicated, alas.

Thanks to Aggieland Liz and djw for the links to more sanity.

I have proudly supported Tim Kaine in his races for Governor of the Commomwealth of Virginia, and the United States Senate. He is the real deal, he has worked for the betterment of the people of Virginia. ALL the people. He is a superb choice S Vice President. Ok it didn’t have much to do with the post but I just had to. As for the suckers who actually believe con man, sleaze, Ponzi scheme trump, well, they are t going to get any of what he promises. He will never deliver. Just ask the working class families he forced into bankruptcy when he ” decided he’d paid them enough”. Not what he agreed too. What he decided was enough. He stole the same people’s houses in 2008. Guess the rednecks can’t read.

    22
  23. maryelle says:

Rhea, all that racial hatred that bubbled to the surface for that uppity President Obama is gonna boil over for that uppity woman who should be home knitting booties for the grandchildren. She (2nd only to the Prez) is responsible for all the evils in the world and has no business in the White House, except to plan dinner parties. Ha! That’s Bill’s job now.

  25. This morning there was posted this diary on Daily Kos:

I think there is some real food for thought in it. I’d love to get a reaction from all of you. And how we might be able to use it.
I’m afraid about this election. We look at Trump and say there is no way he could be elected, but actually he could. No one believed Great Britain would leave the EU, but it happened, because a lot of people voted to protest, never believing Brexit could pass. Having your cake and eating it too, although the inevitable result could be disastrous. And I’ve seen very little recently on voter suppression. We won a bit recently from the court here in Texas, but there will still be many people who won’t be able to vote. Do provisional votes ever get counted?
I want to be positive, but it’s really hard. I like our candidates and have every confidence in their competence and ambitions. But the good don’t always win.

  26. Marlene says:

Whenever I hear someone yap about Hillary being a crook or being investigated I counter with who do you know who has been investigated every time she crosses a street and NEVER been convicted or even charged? She is the most investigated woman in the world and the fact that nothing has ever been proved means it probably does not exist – could Trump stand 25 years of investigation? He won’t even release his tax returns and in November will most likely be found guilty of committing fraud in Trump U. Is she perfect? Not a bit but it’s been unfair over the years that every thing has always been her fault. Haven’t seen this kind of treatment since Joan was burnt at the stake. That’s what GOP was calling for but the party of responsibility takes NO responsibility for 9-11, Iraq, the real beginning of ISIL, the recession, the lack of progress in the economy and on and on. Until that happens (or heck freezes over first) I don’t give their whining an minute of my time or consideration.

JanK, can’t give you the 100% assurance that most of us would like to have that Donnie Drumpf cannot win. But, Ben Jealous did endorse Hilz today. Wait for Bernie’s speech tomorrow night and what Nina Turner does in way of endorsement subsequently. Then, of course, Hilz acceptance speech Thursday night. The list of speakers is good, so hope Hilz has a big post convention bump.

Polls don’t excite me and I don’t rely on them. However, a solid two digit lead in the polls would be somewhat reassuring. Something like 25% or more. Hilz is not the most exciting candidate, but not to be burying Drumpf is a little bit of a concern.

Actually, I visited the Outer Banks in NC just a week ago and there was no sign of rampant trumpism. But then I did avoid “Henry’s cafe” where the TeeVee is tuned to Fox. I would have not stopped at that roadside. They can eat their own peaches.

Everybody register. Everybody vote. Register now, if you haven’t, because getting a driver’s license can take WEEKS (one way to suppress voter registration is to close offices, shorten hours, short-staff them) and cost a fair amount of money.

Vote, dammit. Vote the first opportunity you have (by mail, early voting, or on the day) and don’t let them have an excuse to refuse you. (BTW, to get a state photo-ID card if you live in a retirement home you will need a *notarized* letter from the home confirming your residency. Even if the home doesn’t have a notary. Find one somewhere. I found this out only a couple of weeks ago when I saw an elderly woman trying to get her non-driving ID. (Dammit–the move from driver’s license to ID should be more more fuss than turning in the driver’s license, getting another photo taken, and voila, here’s your photo ID.)

    37
  38. JAKvirginia says:

Yes, Elizabeth Moon. YES! I went through that hell in FL. To get a Drivers License required:

    1. My birth certificate. (It is a FL certificate, one month younger than I am, and they pawed it with suspicion.)

    2. Social Security CARD. (No, a letter from the SSA with your name and SS number would not suffice.)

    3. Proof of residency. (I shared a home with the owners who had to provide an affadavit attesting to my living there.)

Nine trips to the DMV, three trips to the SS office and me without a car. A caring and helpful roomie took me when needed. Good guy.

First time in 60 years of being an American when I felt like I wasn’t.

    38
  39. as a native Virginian, and long-time resident, I can tell you that Sen. Kaine is basically a good guy, and pretty damn smart. his beliefs as a Catholic (as am I), that conflict with the law (against abortion (but who is really “for” abortion? choice, on the other hand, is different) and capital punishment both), he keeps to himself, while upholding the law. he kept the republican dominated VA state legislature at bay during his 4 years as Gov., and defeated the odious (and hopefully departed from politics) George Allen, Jr. for the Senate.

he’s spent his professional life working to help people. granted, he’s not the most exciting guy around, but that’s ok with me, “exciting” doesn’t necessarily translate into “does the job well”, so i’ll take “does the job well” for $500 Alex.
