Well, That Ought To Fix It

February 22, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Oh Florida, you suck.

I kinda suspect this ain’t gonna solve the problem.

With the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High shooting still looming large, its students in the Capitol to lobby for gun controls, the Florida House overwhelmingly passed a measure Wednesday its sponsor said aimed at bringing “light” to the schools.

The bill (HB 839) would require all public schools to post the state motto, “In God We Trust,” in a “conspicuous place.”

And they wash their hands and was away, even though the last shooting was at a Baptist Church here in Texas where I suspect there were a multitude of God things on the damn walls.  Well, at least they died trusting God.

Florida doesn’t have enough problems, that they are willing to waste their own time and taxpayer money on an unconstitutional bill? Vote them out!

When did the statement “In God We Trust” become a STATE motto? BTW, this should definitely keep the kids safe from violence for sure /s. What a waste of time by government to focus on such insane legislation rather than working on real issues!

  3. How about “In Gun’s We Trust”.[More to the point]
We should call things what they are. Campaign contribution’s are really bribe’s. Campaign contribution’s from the NRA is a Bounty on school children. The more kid’s that die the more money the law makers get from the NRA.

  4. Opinionated Hussy says:

I can’t think of a quicker way to make sure every kid in the state becomes an atheist. The ‘light’ that’s needed is the one we shine on NRA bribes.

  5. Marge Wood says:

Prayer’s fine. Mottos are fine. Most important in this case is putting NRA out of business. Shame on them. Shame on the Florida government. Mottos are just supposed to be a reminder…a reminder to DO SOMETHING. As God told Moses in Exodus 14, “Tell the people to stop praying and start moving.” Remember the song about “the Lord’s my shepherd, thus says the Psalm, but just in case…we gotta have a bomb.”

“Florida Lawmakers went on vacation from responsibility, and all I got was this motto:
    In God We Trust”

  7. I had to look that one up to make sure it wasn’t a joke. The sponsor is a Jacksonville Democrat “who runs her own ministry.” So far the state senate has not introduced any such bill.

I’m going to go through my overflowing In box to find that group that supports atheist candidates and I’m going to give them some more money.

The sooner we get rid of these pharisaical twits and idiots who so obviously worship mammon and are infesting our state and federal governments-including judicial benches and legislative bodies-like a plague, the better it will be for every other American who breathes that is not a damn billionaire. It will also be better for God!

  9. If they really really trust God, why do they need guns?

  11. Story Within A Story Alert!!!!!
To any patrons who haven’t already done it, please see the story teased between the second and third paragraphs of that Tampa Bay Times story. “N.R.A. influential in Florida but not through campaign money”. I.M.H.O. This is the real story. I’ve seen a little coverage of it before (probably some in this joint), but nowhere near enough. The N.R.A.’s power is through sheer terror of their grading system and their direct influence with voters on their issue alone. Yeah, they spend a boatload of money in political contributions. Compared to us. But I imagine that dollar for dollar, the weapons and AMMUNITION companies get many times over the bang for their buck. And to me, that’s the best way to fight them. Organizations that permanently research and promote what these amazing students are trying to shine a light on. All the time. Like the N.R.A. does. Not just in a time of grief, when the cameras are on. I know there are organizations that do it, but if their name recognition was a fraction of what the N.R.A.’s is, they’d ,and we, would have a fighting chance.

Is he/she/it on their lists of god’s to trust in: If he/she/it isn’t, why not?

  13. Money saving idea, just tape pennies to the wall. They already have that stamped on them. Yeah, that ought to do it, those mass shooters will run away in terror.

    13
  14. I can’t believe nobody thought to do this before. This is exactly the kind of “out of the box” thinking that we need to address our 21st Century problems. To be fair though, I would have thought that God would have been happy with “In God We Trust” on U.S. coins and currency.

    Thank you.
    Carbs be with you.
    And also with you.

  16. They forgot to approve the second part.

The full statement, at least according to Jean Shepherd (A Christmas Story) is:

    In God We Trust.
    All Others Pay Cash.

  20. I’m really disappointed that FSM didn’t appear on the Atheist’s oh-so-comprehensive list. Thanks for linking to it Mr. Farklestone. BTW, it appears that the various American Indian tribes out-god everyone, with the Egyptians a close second.

  21. You know, if that stupid bill doesn’t specify the size of the lettering of the motto there is a solution that Jim already alluded to, a penny. As for a conspicuous place? Yeah, tape a penny on the very top edge of the door to the boys room and another, same place on the door, to the girls room.

Works for me, especially if duct tape is used. Doesn’t say it has to be legible.
