This Is Why I’m Busy This Morning

Y’all, this is my baby boy.

I cannot imagine where he got a fighting spirit.

And yes, I am very, very proud of him.

  1. And well you should be! Congratulations, mom!

  2. Susan on the Left Coast says:

Your son and these parents are so very brave. When this law suit was announced, Jones went on a rant stating his life is being threatened and globalists are going to assassinate him. It was obvious he was inciting his audience to become hostile and/or violent.

    2
  3. You raised him well, JJ!

  4. SomedayGirl says:

I’m sure you only busted two buttons. Still you should check your blouse, Susan, lest the girls be putting on a free show.

  5. Linda Phipps says:

Alex Jones needs to be booted off the air. There IS such a thing as freedom of speech, but with that comes responsibility, and consequences for the harm done. And more interest must be paid about Trump’s support of Jones.

  6. NicaBrian says:

You did good momma, you did good. You and Don have every right to be proud of your son’s success. Only wish Ben was old enough to brag about his dad at school.

  7. Thanks for posting this. I normally don’t watch Megyn Kelly, but this was…you know, I feel like I could say, “Oh, that’s the son of one of my friends!”

  8. ThrowCautiontotheWind says:

Congratulations on a fine job of parenting!! Kudos to your son for tackling one of the many ongoing battles in the fight against evil. May Alex Jones assert his “free speech” from his empty bank account, on a street corner, instead of the airwaves.

    8
  9. Kenneth Fair says:

    Good on Mark for this.

    9
  10. Wow!!! Maybe with a little luck at all we will see Jones supporting himself by selling pencils from a cracked cup on a street corner somewhere. None of the other stuff he “sells” is totally not worth buying!

  11. Susan on the Left Coast says:

When reading about Sandy Hook defamation suit being filed, it was a big cheer from my desk chair since it would be the second one hanging over Jones’ head and draining his pockets to defend. I do recall Chobani yogurt filing a law suit but am unaware of status of that case.

Flashback: there is another defamation law suit filed against Jones in the recent past. A man who filmed the car attack in Charlottesville got the Jones treatment so badly the man’s parents were threatened. “The plaintiff, Brennan Gilmore, recorded the vehicular attack that left a counter-protester dead during a far-right rally in Charlottesville last year. Jones branded him a “deep state shill” and “CIA asset” who supposedly helped organize the car attack in order to somehow defame President Donald Trump.”

Gilmore and his legal counsel, Georgetown Law’s Civil Rights Clinic, don’t plan to back down if Infowars offers a settlement, as others have done in the past.

“There is no amount of money we would settle for,” Gilmore told HuffPost…. noting that he hopes a judgment against Infowars will set a “legal precedent” for future suits.

  12. Good job, JJ. Your boy is continuing the family tradition of fighting the good fight and seeking to slay the ugly things.

    12
  13. Oh. Hell. Yeah.

    13
  14. AlanInAustin ... says:

As in his custody battle, Jones will claim that he’s playing a persona and that the words uttered on the air are those of a character and not him personally. Again, nobody will believe him.

I hope he’s taken to the cleaners, but am not sure how he can be silenced.

    14
  15. After watching beached whales Michael Cohn, et al this past past week thrash about, trapped in the tidal swamps of D.C., Mark certainly brings some dignity back to the profession.
    Wonderful interview!

    15
  16. I never watch Tv during the day, so glad you posted this. The first amendment and free speech is a great thing about this country but remember you still cannot yell “fire” in a movie theatre and cannot LIE. A lie is not freedom of speech, it is a lie. Picking on these poor parents is unacceptable, devil’s advocate my sweet aunt Fanny.

    16
  17. It’s very powerful when he says that its not just about his clients, but about the Florida kids being attacked and others. The lies and ignorance for the facts must end. So proud to see your young man taking a stand here!

    17
  18. Marthe Lancheres says:

So glad that Alex Jones seems to be getting it from all sides now. What he does is absolutely despicable, heartless and vile. It’s not entertainment, it’s pure malice. It will be a pleasure to watch when he gets his comeuppance in court.
Congratulations to your son for fighting for these parents and justice and congratulations to you and your husband for raising such a gentleman.

    18
  19. He’s a good kid, smart, articulate.

I want to see that bastard lose everything and become so toxic no one will touch him.

    19
  20. Sam in St Paul says:

Here’s hoping Mark cleans up on this case. It’s a good thing they aren’t asking for Jones’s manhood or soul because he has neither.

    20
  21. Craig Waters says:

    Go Bubba Junior!

    21
  22. Ralph Wiggam says:

That was great, buy I still can’t stand Megyn Kelley.

    22
  23. Atta boys all around, x, 100

    23
  24. If there was anyway it could be done, I would force Jones to put the bodies in bags and load them into the ambulances. I would force him to be part of the cleaning crew of the crime scene. I would force him to go to the morgue and clean the bodies of the victims prior to autopsy. I would force him to watch the autopsy.
Maybe just maybe, he would think ten times before opening his disgusting mouth. I despise this piece of garbage and all of his brainwashed parrots.

    24
  25. There are no Momma approved words to properly describe Alex Jones.

Go Mark! Your adopted families here at the Salon are mighty proud of you too.

@ Diane 24, I agree with you. Would that we could make it so.

    25
  26. THOMAS EVERETT says:

I hope he sues into oblivion. Those of us who live in Connecticut have had about all we can stand of Sandy Hook Truther idiots

    26
  27. Fran seyer says:

If your darling son can do anything to rid the USA of this piece of scum, the nation should be grateful. How can he be allowed to speak in a national arena?? He is the lowest of the low. Your son is a dollbaby and such a decent man……congrats to you and your husband!

    27
  28. Well done! You are so right to be extremely proud of your son.

    28
  29. Mother Jones' cat says:

What a well spoken, smart, young man. If I were his mother I’d be walking on air 24/7.

    29
  30. Good job, Momma!

My son is also an attorney (just under two years). Proud of him, too.

And Horrible Alex Jones needs to pay up and then go away, never to have another second of air (or print) time.

    30
  31. Web Tilton says:

Yep, good job, momma and son!
If you go back many years, I think I was the one that pointed this story out to you, back before it became common knowledge. I had read about his insane theories somewhere, I wrote you and you did a column and mentioned me. Somehow now I feel tied to this, though I’m sure it all would have come out in the following days eventually.
In the meantime, I haven’t been keeping up with you as much as I should. Since Trump, there has just been so much going on. And I’ve moved out of Wharton County to Katy. Baby steps.
Keep up the fight my friend!
