Happy Thanksgiving to you, Susan, and to Bubba and the rest of the family!
    Gobble! Gobble!!

  3. That Other Jean says:

    Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

  4. On this Thanksgiving Day I am actually thankful for all the stuff I decided against, even the decisions i didn’t make inasmuch as Karma took care of such situations. this is the first time I have ever looked at gratitude this way! Rather liberating! To one ad all, have a good day of giving thanks!

  5. Just read the comments to the terrific Outsmart article! What the bleep is a college of Wooster? the only wooster I ever heard of was a butler!!!

  6. RE: *djw*

    +1

  7. Amen.
    And work fast, Bobby!

Maggie – I getcha. But Bertie Wooster was the Upper Class English Twit. The butler was Jeeves.

  8. Happy Thanksgiving JJ, and everyone!
If you have Republicans at your table today, just remember to try and enjoy the turkeys at dinner, no matter how many there are.

  9. Hear, hear – Happy Thanksgiving!

We’ll be dining, as usual, with the Uber-Catholic Trumpians. But we’re all generally well-behaved, and use our mouths for eating and family stories.

    9
  10. Enjoy, everybody! We’ll be enjoying (yes, really) our Tofurkey roast with stuffing, thick-cut over 7-grain bread with mushroom gravy and cranberry sauce, and roasted vegetables on the side, followed by lying down for several hours and contemplating the infinite.

In the meantime, have fun with this. I think she sounds Texan?

Thank you, everyone here, for your hysterically funny remarks that help me keep my sanity!

  12. Jane & PKM says:

    Happy Thanksgiving to all!

  13. Lunargent, so Jeeves the butler was the smart one! Well, after reading comments from College of Wooster, that makes a great deal of sense!

    13
  14. Hot off the presses:

Michael Flynn has cut off ties with Trump’s lawyers, seen as a sign he is cooperating with Robert Mueller. Giving thanks (as in the cartoon above) indeed!

    14
  15. Rhea, I started making my vegan feast at 11 this morning (well, really last night when I dehydrated sprouted bread for stuffing). Started with the cranberry-orange relish while the pumpkin and apple slow-roasted, then made curried pumpkin soup. Baked a big sweet potato and a small blue potato. Up next, mushroom-onion gravy, then chestnuts to cook along with the celery and onions for the stuffing. Added the cubed bread, a little of the same broth concentrate I used for the gravy. Stuffed it into portobello caps, put the leftovers in silicone muffin tins, baked everything. Have beautiful leftovers for tomorrow. No corpses for my day of gratitude!

    15
  16. Shared the feast with friends and it was nice.

Rhea, I have never seen turkeys play soccer before — ever. Insane. The voice? I’d go a little farther east, I think.

    16
  17. At the Thanksgiving dinner I went to yesterday, the host’s 13 year-old daughter gave thanks for Mueller!

A grand time was had by all!

  18. @JJ

It’s hard to ignore this Mike Crowe, the alleged 1987 graduate of the College of Wooster, since he commented on nearly every other commenter on the entry. This snacilbupeR tool needs a job. Perhaps Walmart has a seasonal opening.

  19. Maggie –
The P. G. Wodehouse Jeeves stories were written in the 1920’s and 30’s, but they hold up beautifully. You can download them for free at Amazon onto a Kindle app. There are also free audiobooks available on LibriVox or YouTube. Well worth looking into, if you like British humour.

I had the pleasure of auditing a course at SMU a few years ago that covered BritLit for Idiots. The Fleming and Wodehouse coverage were wonderful as were briefer readings by Sax Rohmer.

  21. Juanita Jean Herownself says:

Oh, I know. Mike has an obsessive personality. I can’t tell you how sorry I am that he picked me.

    21
  22. JJ –
Would it help if we trolled Mike, or does that just rile him up more?
