Republican Hispanic Outreach

Okay, so here’s how we know that the last Hispanic Republican event wasn’t a crowd pleaser.

First off, the people holding the signs aren’t Hispanics.  We know this because Hispanics can read Spanish.  They know that this ain’t a thing – Hispanics Para Trump.

Hispanics is an English word.  The proper Spanish word is Hispanos.

Even better, para means “for” but not that kind of for.  Para is used when you’re giving a gift or showing the use of something — example: You use scissors for cutting paper.

The correct term would be “por”.  Hispanics por Trump.  The only word they got right was Trump.  But, ya know, one out of three ain’t bad.

Then a CNN commentator and one of Trump’s people went all I’m So Damn Smart on Tim Kaine.

images“What Mr. Trump did, he spoke in a language all Americans can understand ― that is English,” Hughes told CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer while praising the Republican presidential nominee.

“I didn’t have to get a translator for anything that was going on at the [Republican National Convention] this week,” she continued.

“I’m hoping I’m not going to have to start brushing up on my ‘Dora the Explorer’ to understand some of the speeches given this week,” she added, referencing the children’s cartoon that stars a child who can speak English and Spanish.

She later apologized on Twitter.  Too little, too late.

  1. What kinda mouth-breathing drooling hillbilly name is “Scottie Nell”?

    Gawd I loathe nacilbupeR moles.

    1
  2. Fake Hispanics? Why didn’t they have people in blackface holding signs that said “Negroes for Trump”?

    2
  3. Leave it to the Rethugs to totally screw up – and themselves head first into the ground!

  4. Larry from Coloardo says:

    My landlady in Athens, who was educated as an English translator, and spoke 6 languages fluently, and 7 more “enough to get by” told me this joke: “What do you call a person who speaks three languages?” (I hope you know the answer.) “What do you call a person who speaks two languages?” (Same caveat) “What do you call a person who speaks one language?” {American}

Sure you did, Toots. Even vacuous blondes aren’t deranged enough to understand derp.

Oh no, the “English only” crowd is rearing its ugly head again.
One’s ability to speak multiple languages is a mark of intelligence and cultural advancement. Clearly this airhead does not have that ability and never will. The Republican Hispanic Outreach never happened, much like the outreach to women and other minorities. Her comments underscore the limited mentality associated with Drumpf supporters.

  7. two crows says:

So the Trump campaign proved it couldn’t find even one Hispanic to hold up a sign for him. Really? I’m SHOCKED!

And then it bragged about it.

  8. Stolen from Molly Ivins, while it is true that Trump’s speech was delivered in English, I’m sure it sounded better in the original German.

  9. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Where does Donnie Drumpf find all his greatest spox people? Seems like Ivanka might have been recruiting from some secret sorority of the vacuous.

    9
  10. How many languages did Trumps various wives speak? And didn’t they take jobs away from America’s hard working models?

    10
  11. Rick, those immigrants were doing a job that Americans were unwilling to do: marry Trump.

I’m sorry. That was so easy that I’m embarrassed.

    11
  12. Marcia in CO says:

LOL @ Rhea … but, honey, it is the absolute truth! Do not be embarrassed because you have a quick wit!! LOL I love it!!

  13. UmptyDump says:

These people can’t be xenophobes, because after all xeno- is a combining form based on an ancient Greek word for alien.

True Amurriken patriots would never use them furrin big-talkin’ wurds with xeno- in ’em!

    13
  14. slipstream says:

Sheesh. I was kidding about my “Mexicans for Trump” SuperPAC. You remember, the one that was not getting very many contributions.

Trump has managed to out-kid me with his phony-baloney “Hispanics Para Trump” signs.

Trump campaign worker on the phone to the print shop: “and the signs should say ‘Hispanics Para Trump.'”
Print shop clerk: “Okay. How many should we print?”
Campaign worker: “Lessee . . . two ought to do it.”

  15. JAKvirginia says:

Rhea for the win! Bwahahahaha…. That was good!

  16. Polite Kool Marxist says:

What a contrast! One hour into the DNC convention and we’ve seen more color than at all the combined snacilbupeR events from the past year.

Kudos to Hilz. Having Mayor Rawlings-Blake gavel the opening was a nice peace offering to the Feel the Bern voters.

    17
  17. Marcia in CO says:

I question why some of those louder then loud folks are even there … they are certainly not there for Hillary nor Tim and state as much!!
They just want to protest the TPP and still not sure who they will even vote for!!

    18
  18. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Donna Brazile gave a very gracious interview on CNN, apologizing for the e-mail with elegant sincerity. She also had an excellent response to those protesting – “we’re Democrats. Our voices won’t be hushed.” That’s leadership!

Marcia in CO, voters have until Nov to decide. However, expect that after FLOTUS Obama, Senator Warren and Senator Sanders speak tonight there will be a change in attitude and a momentum shift.

Rep Elijah Cummings gave a very unifying speech. There’s a long and deep bench behind Hilz. Better yet, they’re prepared to go through Nov to guarantee that Donnie Drumpf is defeated.

  19. Sandridge says:

    ¡ ‘Pendejos por Trump‼

I watched a good bit of the RNC on PBS, there were a few of those idiota signs, the camera always seemed to pan/zoom in to them. Some were held by apparent Hispanics, some holders appeared S. Asian (to me).

Remember that St. Ronny Raygun is still a hero to many Hispanics due to his ’86 amnesty program, particularly in TX, (and the R’s by association).
That Rethug sponsored ‘amnesty’ program is conveniently forgotten by today’s ‘Pukes and Teabaggers. ~3+ million, mostly Mexican illegals, were legalized by St. RR.
(and I was on the border back then, the hordes of amnesty-seekers snarled traffic for months in towns that opened special Migra offices (the existing offices were swamped, then the extras couldn’t even handle the load, it was a mess))

BTW, That “11 million illegal aliens in the US” has been floating around since the ’70-80’s, the actual number is more like 40-60 million+ today.

Darn it Juanita Jean, WHY isn’t there a “LIKE” button on your site? Some of your commenters are so right-on and it’s so tough to tell each of them so.

    And in other news: BWAHAHAHAHA!

    21
  21. JAKvirginia says:

“… he spoke in a language all Americans can understand … ”

But judging by their signs, few can write. Ah, me…

    22
  22. e platypus onion says:

The hummer…the humidor….. the funny stuff on here just gets better and better.

    23
  23. Marcia in CO says:

PKM … I sure hope you are right come November that some of those protest folks will have finally made up their minds due to the encouraging speeches made by the convention orators both tonight and over the next 3 days and beyond! As it stands, they just aren’t convinced yet … throwing out Jill Stein’s name, threatening not to vote at all … I suppose some may vote for Donald or write in Bernie’s name.
    It ain’t gonna be easy!!

    24
  24. They’ve got to accept the fact that the president for the next four years (barring death) is going to be either Trump or Clinton, no other real possibilities, and a vote for anyone but Clinton is a vote for Trump.

    25
  25. “One’s ability to speak multiple languages is a mark of intelligence and cultural advancement. Clearly this airhead does not have that ability and never will.”

her “ability” is pretty much limited to: blonde hair, boobs and butt. take that away, and there’s no there there.

    26
  26. “I’m hoping I’m not going to have to start brushing up on my ‘Dora the Explorer’ to understand some of the speeches given this week.”

Said a member of a party who can’t find most countries of the world on a map unless we are bombing it.

    27
  27. Was it just me, or did Michelle Obama demonstrate why Melania Trump felt like she needed to sound like the first lady? She knocked it out of the park last night. Seriously impressive.
