Just a Little Treat, Texas Style

April 27, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

There is a run-off in the Republican primary over who is going to replace Lamar Smith in Congress.

Both candidates are Trump Republicans and aside from being weird and scary, they appear to be challenging each other to a prayer-off.

Meet Chip Roy.  He’s mainly afraid of America becoming Britain, where they kill sick children and what not —

…we will see a true dystopia that mirrors the nightmare we’re seeing play out in Western Europe.  A dystopia marked by open borders and sovereignty stripped away by unaccountable and rogue judges whose oath is to ideology instead of the Constitution.  A dystopia where the pews sit empty as our society secularizes and our culture erodes from a people who place their hope in government instead of God.

He’s worked for Ken Paxton and Ted Cruz so he’s running on the Scare The Hell Out Of You platform.

And then there’s Matt McCall.  Ole Matt is Conservative. Christian. Constitutionalist.  CCC?  On the front page of his website —

If I gave you a nickel overtime he says he’s a Christian, you could buy Boardwalk with three hotels.

I want to tell you something.  If two Republican men talk about being Christian that much, I’ll give you two to one odds that both of them are stealing your silverware or having carnal knowledge with farm animals.

Next week, we’re gonna look at who is giving them boatloads of money.

Be social and share!

Didn’t he mean “judges whose oath is to Trump rather than to the Constitution”? One could see why Republicans would worry about such things.

On the Dem’s side we have a runoff as well. It’s a hard choice. Mary Wilson is pretty progressive and would be a great win for our side. However, she may be just far enough to the left, that centrists won’t like her. Joseph Kopser is a former republican and is running on a more centrist platform. He is not necessarily what the left wants, but may be more electable, as he may pull in some of the trumped-out republicans. I was waiting to see who they would be up against and it looks like they are far-right kooks. Mary may have a better chance against them since they may scare off some of the less radical republicans. I guess we will see who is running in May, and who will win in November. Send the republicans your thoughts and prayers that they find peace soon. Then get out and vote this state till it’s blue!

  3. When I hear Republicans talk pray, I like to see how easily PREY substitutes in their shtick.

For instance, does a Prey Chain sound like it benefits the big links, or the weaker links? Apex predator or the meek?

  4. “Joseph Kopser is a former republican ”
Why support and vote for someone ho is either a liar or a coward or both.
Either he is lying about becoming a D in which case how about a truth statement from him where he reveals all the money and communications he ever had as a thuglican plus a full throated denunciation of addle ronnie, the twit, and perjurer poppa. Don’t forget a full apolagy for his support of thuglican policies etc in the past with a full statement of how wrong he was . No excuses, no sorry if I offended, just a I have been greviously wrong on policies on LGBTQ policies, gay marriage, economic policies, tax policies etc with details of how and wher he lost his way.
Or He is just apolitical coward that after a career of preparing the electorate for demented donnie he has decided that this one is one loony too far and instead of taying in the thuglican party he ran with his yellow stained pants away because trying to repair the damage he has encouraged and been complicit with is just to difficult when he can whip out a checkbook and with the cooperation of some “useful fools” in the D party he can continue to do damage.
Just as “reformed” junkies are always suspect so it is for the ethically challenged, intellectually febrile and morally absent so called “ex” thugs tying to slavage their reputation from the dumpster fire they helped set and fed.

  5. This is my district. It isn’t an even remotely hard choice. There is only one Democrat in the Democratic runoff.

    Mary Wilson, y’all.

  6. @Matt McCall

Fwiw, I don’t want to live under any variety of religious law, in particular your version of vaguely Christian fundamentalism.

    6
  7. And they said Jefferson was going to confiscate your Bibles and burn down the churches….

If someone’s running as a GOP, he’s (odds are real high it’s a he) almost certain to be working real hard to scare you. Republicans like to be scared. They’re scared of everything, and that’s why many of them want to carry guns everywhere they go. Look over there at that scary monster, and that one, and that one! You better elect me real quick, because I can save you from those scary monsters! You’d think their voters would get fed up with this BS, but it’s been working for them since the 1860s.

Before I’m corrected, it wasn’t the GOP that attacked Jefferson as a godless maniac, but it’s the same strain of US political pandering.

And when somebody tries to tell me how religious he is, I look at my watch and wait.

  8. Thoughts and prayer haven’t been enough for them, they want votes too?

Got news for them bozos, in much of secular Europe citizens are taxed to pay for state religions.

This is truly a scary scenario for Texas voters. We tried that in Virginia with EW Jackson (eeeeeeew) but dodged the crazy bullet. There are still enough wackos in Richmond, though. I read yesterday that a court in Texas has made it OK for agencies to deny adoption to unmarried, gay or NON christian couples. If I were on the court, I would have made it difficult for those christian couples to even go near an innocent child.

  10. At last! The fearmongerers are being seen for what they really are:no mentality at all, just a nuclearized emotion. From what I can see in the polls that I have to read damn near daily in my job, The Blue Wave is definitely still there and holding. The Golden Gibbon’s disapproval ratings simply make my day. Yes, November is still a ways off but just think of all the damn stuff that could happen between now and then. Running neck and neck would be Mueller’s final report and Kim Jung Un reneging on everything he ever muttered about denuclearization and peace, Scott Pruitt imploding all over what is left of the EPA and so on and on. The flyover people who elected a thug to protect them finally admit that he doesn’t even know who or where they are. One can only hope and work like a team of dogs on GOTV. And Linda Phipps, I know what you are saying, girl! It seems that there are simply state courts who exist merely to make sure everything they do lands in the lap of SCOTUS. Somehow i think this makes them feel good even when SCOTUS overturns every damn thing they do. They can still sit on the front porch, put their feet up on the railing and boast about how hard a time they gave the Supremes. Not that they were vindicated, mind you, but just how much of a mess they made! Juvenile, ain’t it!

  11. Opinionated Hussy says:

‘Centrist’ and ‘former republican’ no longer make them more electable. If the only choice for moderates who want to vote GOP is a RWNJ, they’ll stay home. In 2018, ‘electable’ is a Real Dem over a DINO every day.

  12. Anna The Geek says:

I am with Joel on this one. I personally know Mary Wilson and she is awesome. She campaigns constantly. She is the top vote getter in the primary. Sadly, I am not in her district but if you are, vote for her. You will not regret it at all.

  13. Totally off topic.
I’m watching CNN’s coverage of the White House Correspondent’s Dinner.
As opposed to last year, when no-one from the administration showed up in solidarity with Donnie Douchebag, this year apparently several of Donnie’s past and present administration are in attendance. All making nice with “fake news” folks who they’ve tried to eviscerate for a couple of years. Singing the praises of a free press and everyone’s first amendment’s right to free speech. But a panelist pointed out that the correspondents and comedians are gonna have a field day with these people. And what wasn’t said was how much fodder that was gonna be for Donnie’s Twitter feed and Fox propaganda. And here’s the rub. Considering what we’ve learned about the targeting of specific people with specific ads, on Facebook and who knows what else, tonight’s goings on will probably be used as a very effective weapon against the institution of the fourth estate. Because Donnie Douchebag will rail against everything said tonight that is said about his people as being unfair attacks by the fake news people. And then, apparently millions of folks will learn about it from Fox propaganda, Infowars, Breitbart, or some other repugnant source of fuel for the repulsive dumpster fire that the repugnantcan party has become.

Not to worry. We are in her district and she has us all the way.
