  1. Something new and juicy must’ve come out to hasten his departure. Would love to know what it is, but will probably sleep better if I don’t.

    1
  2. So excited BLAKE is gone! He can parade in his jammies all he wants now, just fearing the local gendarmes – who should arrest the fool on sight for indecent behavior!

    2
  3. Rather figured he would end this way. This is the kind of news that really caps off a TGIF!

    3
  4. Teh Gerg says:

Effective when? Not that the words “effective” and his name go together.

    4
  5. Lunargent says:

So, did he ever pay back the $84K?

Even if not, worth it to be rid of him.

    5
  6. The Gerg

The Houston Chronicle said he was gone and his FB and other communication vehicles were taken down.

Nothing was said about giving back the money.

    6
  7. Yes, the infamous Friday news dump. Or as Blake probably prefers to think of it, the start of a long, long weekend.

    7
  8. maryelle says:

Hurry, not too late to get his picture on the Jumbotron in NYC.
His is the face of the Rethuglican party, all innocence, dressed up in ducky pajamas, with a hooker on the side. Throw the bums out!

Crone, exactly! Has this scammer paid us our money yet? Maybe he could arrange a loan through Donnie’s attorney, Michael Cohn.

Oh yeah Friday news dump. Is Pruitt still there?

    9
  10. WA Skeptic says:

Whoopee! Well, he’s still stiffing the taxpayer, but his exit is a good first step.

    10
  11. UmptyDump says:

Sooo … $84,000 of embezzled federal money that Blakey misused to settle a sexual harassment charge. That ought to get him sent to prison. Guess he’s not worth as much as he pretended to be.

    12
  12. Susan on the Left Coast says:

Blake is probably in a hurry to get home to yet another GOP mouth piece’ slumber party. Mitt Romney’s and Scott Walker’s employee – described as ‘high ranking’, Benjamin Sparks, is a rabid sadist… He’s assumed to be hiding in Texas to avoid arrest warrant in Nevada….after beating the crap out of his fiancee who refused to be gang banged by his friends for his viewing pleasure even though he made her sign a sex slave contract. She did not follow orders and has the injuries to prove it. He’s now been fired by Nevada congressional candidatate, Cresent Hardy and from consulting firm RedRock Strategies.

    13
  13. SteveTheReturned says:

I swear, at this point I don’t even care that much about the unpaid money. It’s worth $84,000 to me to have this worthless scumbag out of D.C. at last.

    14
  14. Susan on the Left Coast says:

Wait, what? News talking head said ” Farenthold has resigned from Congress, effectively closing his ethics investigation” — does that negate his obligation to refund the illegally used tax dollars? They assumed since it was an ongoing ethics investigation that new allegations were about to drop making his yesterday denial about resigning become a resignation today on Friday news dump day where all juicy stories glow-in-the dark.

    15
  15. And he resigned right on the day (if I understand Texas election law correctly) that it becomes impossible to hold a special election for his seat, unless Tex. Gov. Abbot calls for a special election.

At least our conservatives are learning after the Dumpster fire created by Gov. Walker in Wisconsin.

    16
  16. YeeeHaa! Good riddance to this slimy POS.

His Election Cmte had $125,269.06 cash on hand (14Feb2018). He could certainly pay that $84K back.
    https://www.fec.gov/data/candidate/H0TX27061/

I’m curious bout his donors. I’ve sorted/filtered his list of contribs several ways and number of people or PACs have donated multiple times, and way over what I thought was a $2700 limit.
Anybody know how they can do that?

Farenthold has been in office since Jan-2011, making ~$160K/yr(?, maybe it’s $140k?). Plus all the perks, travel expenses, staff expenses, which are probably four times salary.

In that time, call it eight and a half years, he has sponsored (‘written himself’) a total of 58 bills, less than SEVEN BILLS per year:
    https://www.congress.gov/member/blake-farenthold/F000460?q=%7B“sponsorship”%3A”sponsored”%7D

    https://www.congress.gov/member/blake-farenthold/F000460

ONLY ONE BILL of his has passed through the process and was made law (plus a couple of amendments). He was a ‘co-sponsor’ of ~1270 other bills, BFD.
He made ~$1,360,000 in Rep salary during that time, and his ‘productive’ output, sum total, WAS ONE FOCKING LEGISLATIVE BILL; one effen legislative bill passed in his whole focking US Rep career (how does this compare to the other 434 Members? I’ll bet that even Screwy Looey beats that.).

Oh…I know…he was too busy chasing tail all around the place to do any productive work.
I can just see Blakey PajamaBoy enunciating the word “work” the way Gilligan used to do it.

ONE BILL ENACTED, IN 8+ YEARS *, in the 113th Congress of ’13-14:
    https://www.congress.gov/member/blake-farenthold/F000460?q=%7B“sponsorship”%3A”sponsored”%2C”bill-status”%3A”law”%7D

    * “Shown Here:
    Public Law No: 113-80 (02/12/2014)
(This measure has not been amended since it was introduced. The summary of that version is repeated here.)

OPM IG Act – Authorizes funding for the cost of audits, investigations, and oversight activities conducted by the Inspector General of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) of the OPM revolving fund and activities financed by the fund. Requires OPM to include in its budget submission an estimate by the Inspector General of the amount required to pay the expenses to audit, investigate, and provide other oversight activities with respect to the revolving fund.”

DID THIS EFFEN BILL do one damned thing for the people of TX-27? It cost us ~$5,000,000+.

We have all been in the wrong line of work…talk about overpaid, underworked, unaccountable, holeemollee.

He is the face of the crooked wingnuts. Don’t forget the 18 minute gap between his front teeth.

    $174000 per year, Sandridge.

    19
  19. Congratulations, Ms. JJ! I’ll bet this news out a smile on your heart that will go far in your healing after your recent hospital visit.

    20
  20. e platypus onion,
$174K, sheesh, even more than I remembered it as.
Without looking it up, I’d speculate that the median income in TX-27 is probably around $30-50K/yr (S TX is still a pretty low wage area on average, but fairly ‘polarized’, with many having pretty good incomes, lots of others not so much. I was feeling fairly comfortable w/a high five-low six figure income in the last half of my career, but I actually “worked” for it, yeesh)

Just imagine paying these SOB’s that much forking dinero, $174K per year, for almost nothing except grifting and bloviating.
I think that $alary figure is pretty close to the median salary for PC MD’s and lawyers. They actually do quite a bit of productive work in their office hours. These politicians mostly do jack shit, for more dinero too.

Be nice if ol’ Pajamas went fishing in the bay and fell overboard, Corpus Christi Bay is chock full of hammerhead sharks…and unlike with that theory that says sharks tend to reject humans after the first bite, because they’re too BONY …weeelllll…heheh.

All I can think of is that maybe any (or some) Democrats running for these positions should bring this kind of stuff out into the open once in a while. Contrast what Mr/Ms Rethug incumbent is making as a salary versus what they actually do.

Great tie into the Watergate tapes!

  22. maryelle says:

Arrg! Spell check! That should have been:
EPO wins the internet. Had to use upper case to avoid having it change to expo.

    23
  23. Just another corrupt Repug dork. No more to add.

    24
  24. Couldn’t resist, there was a very short blurb on the local tv nooz about PajamaBoy dropping out.

Farenthold was in office for about 8 1/2 years, was paid (by all taxpayers) more than $1.6 Million (he apparently still also has a law practice in Corpus, so some more $$), plus an office overhead of probably $6 Million+. Lets just call it $8Mil clams total gubmint outlay, then there may or may not be some errrr…’grift money’ eh?… (plus he will get some kind of pension, not sure if it’s a full one, or pro-rated).

In all that time he ‘produced’ ONE BILL originated by him that became USofA law (and you can bet his staff, or some lobbyists, did most all of it), plus a few amendments.
A blindingly brilliant political career, yes?
That one little bill had 273 words (including the bill title, number, and extras, and 1966 characters.
So, $29,304.03 per effen word, $4069.18 per character (counting a few superfluous ones, so even more $$ per). And he can’t pay that $84,000 back?
Sure, those 535 DC dorks do a little more than that, they cast votes on others bills, actions, and policies, make some PR bull, etc., but still, what a racket. Breathtaking.

Next time y’all see your kids or grandkids doing some papers for homework, tell them what ‘some’ people make for doing a little paperwork.
Have them run the “word count” for a week’s school papers in their ‘Word/Write’ app, then divide it into their allowances… on second thought, better not do that…you wouldn’t want to ruin their outlook for life.

(Hey, George Soros, where’s my damned paycheck?)

    25
  25. Oops, link to Blake Farenthold’s (R, TX-27) one and ONLY bill as a US Congresscritter for 8 1/2 years (complete text, quote above was a summary, almost as long):

    Public Law No: 113-80 (02/12/2014)
    [113th Congress Public Law 80]
[From the U.S. Government Printing Office]

    https://www.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-bill/2860/text

Really, how many of y’ll could get away with ‘working’ like that, and get paid handsomely, with all the perks? And get to stay with it, possibly for life, if you just kept your little winkie and big mouth under a little bit of control. POS Blakei even failed at that.

    26
  26. Sandridge, do you actually want this clown to have passed more bills? Do we want Louie to pass more bills? Granted, we don’t want to pay them anything at all, but we don’t want them to have any say in governing the country either.

As Arlo Guthrie said when people complained about how much Reagan was sleeping and napping, “I figure the more he sleeps, the better off we are!”

    27
  27. Rhea, A very good point. It’s quite a paradox wrapped in an enigma, ain’t it?
We’re paying these SOB’s a mind-boggling exorbitant amount of money to parade and parrot around DC, we hope that they would DO something positive for the citizenry, and yet it seems best that the worst of them do as little as possible.
I thought of looking up Gohmert’s, Cruz’s, et al., lege record, but just can’t do it yet; might disappear into a bottle of rum or something after that exercise in futility.
As a logical, rational, efficiency-minded type (maybe), I keep trying to make sense of things, and yet I fully realize the illogical absurdity of so many things, politics at the forefront.
Every system has a certain amount of irremovable built-in waste and inefficiency, no way around it.

Still, at this time, too many of the worst of them are doing a tremendous amount of damage to the USA. Will we survive it?

Blake Farenthold sued for sexual abuse by four of his fingers and a thumb!

    29
  29. Tilphousia says:

Methinks (ok, guys, I like the Brits) that if all the monies embezzaled by the recent corrupt politicians were paid back it would greatly reduce the national debt.

    30
  30. maryelle says:

Another winner! UmptyDump hit a home run with his “abuse by four fingers and a thumb”.
