Don’t be Uncivil…

June 26, 2018 By: El Jefe Category: Alternative Facts, Flamethrower

By all means, whatever you do, don’t be uncivil to a Trump staffer.  We must all be nice to each other, right?

  1. World War II against Hitler wasn’t won by the opposition and the underground by being civil or nice.

  2. There was a recent letter to our local paper here in Fredericksburg from an out of town couple. They had been thinking of moving here but after reading some of the diatribes against liberals in the letters to the editor lately, they felt they may not be welcome since they are Democrats. Sure enough, the following week there was a letter telling them as much. Basically, if you’re a Dem, keep out. It is very disheartening. When we moved here from CA in 1996, there was none of this. Now, thanks to Trump, it’s all out there and people feel emboldened by his trash talk to say whatever they like.

I will do you one better Texas, I won’t step in your state at all. Sorry Juanitajean.

El Jefe, cool they put up a freedom of speech board. Now please hold my beer, while I get some spray paint to tag it. brb

I’ve read court history in which conservatives lost their cookies because flower children were wearing flag patches on the rear of their bellbottoms. Now arch ‘conservative’ $carah Palin wears the image on her feet. The only thing that has really changed is that the word conservative needs air quotes.

As for ‘civility’ toward conservatives?” There’s a buy-bull quote for that, too. Galatians 6:7 and Job 4:8, “…as ye sow, so shall ye reap.” Happy harvesting, ‘conservatives’!

  5. I’m torn between “Suck it, you nasty-arsed petty rednecks” and “Do we really want to wallow in the sty with those hogs?”

Granted, it feels good to give them back what they’ve been dishing out, but then we’re all covered with muck. Can we manage with a raised eyebrow and a witheringly cutting riposte?

  6. I find it amusing how the rePUKEians really hate themselves so much!! They want the liberal socialists to leave the state with the highest number of welfare mommies…ya know like EXXON or texas and so many more. Too bad they never succeeded as I would have loved watching them go bankrupt in less than a year!!

  7. I would imagine since they don’t want me, they don’t want my money either.
Sorry JJ,will not spend a penny willingly in Texas EXCEPT to donate to Democratic candidates.

  8. We tolerate too much depraved, dishonest, corrupt, criminal and hateful behavior. People need to return to their roots, grow a spine and stop swallowing the propaganda. Bullies will roll people over as long as we play nice or “Be Best”. Unless we start hitting back, nothing is going to change.

This not the time to be civil. Just my humble opinion.

  9. Opinionated Hussy says:

    Diane, count me in, too.

Juanita Jean – you just keep on asking for donations to get mail-in ballots to Dems, you can count on us. And if you need a respite from all that Rethuglican spittle, come on east and visit in our mountains. It was 76 today, and green like a rain forest.

  10. Charles R Phillips says:

Being civil in our discourse to means, once he’s down on the ground, refrain from stomping him with your size 12 Redwings.

  11. For our own sanity my little bride and I desperately want to leave Texas, BUT since all our kids and grandkids live in Texas, escape is impossible without uprooting multiple families. Hopeless.

My experience trying to de-program one of my brothers that fell under the spell of the Tea Party when it first oozed from the sewer proved unsuccessful. Apparently only death cures this variety of stupid.

  12. Jane & PKM says:

Speaking of “you’ve got to be kidding me level phony outrage,” Lyin’ Ryan wants an apology from Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA). Sure thing, right after Paulie and Donnie apologize to a list of people too long to type without imploding iOS 11.3.1 and all cell towers within a 1000 mile radius.

    13
  13. Back during the 1970’s oil shortages, national speed limits were reduced to 55 to conserve gasoline. We heard up here in Indiana that a favorite Texas bumper stick at the time was-

“Drive 65 and freeze a Yankee”.

This billboard was the SECOND reminder in recent memory of that anecdote. The FIRST reminder was the recent hurricanes down there, almost certainly agrevated by climate change. My thought then was that there ought to be a retalitory bumper sticker-

“Drive 65 and drown a Texan”.

On the subject of civility, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency chimes in:

COUNTRIES OF EUROPE RANKED BY CIVILITY (1939-1945)

    ALI ELKIN

In response to the Trump administration’s immigration policies, some Americans have taken to publicly calling out members of the Trump administration in public, prompting others to ask if civility is dead in America. Let’s examine that question by looking at civility during another era:

    6. The United Kingdom
Dead last. The Brits were extremely rude to the Nazis. Instead of nicely engaging Hitler in a dialogue about not bombing London, Winston Churchill resorted to trickery, letting Hitler waste resources, and public shaming via radio broadcasts. Once Neville Chamberlain was gone, Britain’s behavior was below the level of discourse one would expect from such a supposedly polite nation.

  15. Old but Slow says:

All vile language from the right should now be met with “how uncivil”. We can uncivil them to death.

On a similar note, I saw a quote that all refugee camps should be referred to as “Trump camps”. Let him live that down. Besides, he likes his name on things.

    16
  16. My answer to these “republican” pendejos is – People like you don’t deserve the privilege of living in a democracy.

  17. @John

Freeze a Yankee was a novelty song of the time by the so-called Folkel Minority.

Possibly the most horrible place I have ever found myself was Amarillo, TX. (Burying an in-law)

The Cadillac Ranch was very cool. The only worthwhile thing there.
