Best Headline This Week So Far

Novartis, the drug giant, gave Michael Cohen $1.2 million for insight into Trump’s approach to Obamacare.

Then, today

They gave him money before they knew he was useless?  And they want you to trust them enough to put their drugs in your mouth.  I dunno, y’all.

Plus, if they spend $1.2 on useless people in hopes that they can hike the price of my drugs, then their drugs cost too much to begin with. That’s an obscene amount of money to gamble while people already can’t afford their drugs.

Plus, heck, for $20 and a Dairy Queen gift card, Thelma would have told them that Cohen was useless.  Thelma is an expert on useless men. Give Thelma some money, dammit.

  1. It took them $1.2 million to figure that out? I’d say if you have stock in Novartis, sell!!!!

  2. Susan on the Left Coast says:

It is reported that AT&T paid him $50,000 a month for year to get “insight on the President” = Semantics Level: Expert

    2
  3. $1.2? heck they can call me useless for a measly $500k!

    3
  4. If we’re having a bidding war for who’s the most useless, I wouldn’t give a plug nickel for Jared K.

As for me, I’ll underbid dave. Novartis, call me useless for $450,000! PLEASE!!

  5. Kinda like paying $4600 for serelaxin.

  6. It is no longer legal but pharma sales reps used to (1) give all expense trips to top prescribing Docs (and wives) to exotic locations for ‘training seminars’ for continuing education credits; (2) supply lunches for all the doctor office staffs every Friday (or whatever day their turn was) for lunch hour training on prescription drugs…etc, etc. All linked to how much the doctors office prescribed of that company’s drug. These were PAYMENTS for past practice and revenue generation. So I would contend that the payment was for a done deal….not to get access in the future. The company was already BOUGHT something and they paid for it. Pharma execs do NOT pay for something as nebulous as ‘access’.

BTW, I worked as an executive in the pharma industry for 30 years.

I’d gladly be useless to them for half as much!

  8. Michael Cohen, world’s biggest most expensive placebo.

  9. Susan on the Left Coast says:

No wonder the FBI nabbed 16 phones from Cohen’s raid:

REUTERS: South Korea’s Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd paid $150,000 for consulting services on accounting matters to a firm set up by Michael Cohen….the company, is competing to sell trainer jets to the U.S. Air Force worth up to $16 billion.

Here’s the best part: “the company said it had no individual dealings with Cohen” <—then whom were they dealing with?

    Breaking news: Job killers extraordinaire!
Boeing license will be revoked as part of Iran sanctions, Mnuchin said just now — Boeing has signed a $3 billion deal for 30 737 Max jets with Iran Aseman airline and a $16.6 billion deal with national carrier Iran Air for 80 aircraft.

That deal just got a shit load of Boeing employees freaking out.

Debbo, Jughead Kushner and the incestuous Popsicle Princess are “mere” symptoms of the Dotard45 maladministration with its corrupt cabinet. DeVos, Pruitt Zinke or another Donnie pick as to who is doing the most damage at home. Bolton and Pompeo are posed to wreck international havoc, while Donnie’s spawn and ‘best people’ are set to bankrupt us fiscally and morally.

Donnie loves the Pruitt scandals for taking the media focus off what he, Dimwit Jr, Err-Reich and the Javanka are costing us.

*itch McConnell, Lyin’ Ryan and most of the snacilbupeR in Congress should be prosecuted for dereliction of duty for failing to fulfill their role as a checks and balance to the demented Donnie.

Hey! I just saved $1.2 million! What a great day!

  12. I’ve been with AT&T for 25 years. I’m looking into moving to T-Mobile. I don’t want to send money each month to a company that was trying to ratf**k its way to larger profits.

  13. RepubAnon says:

I expect that whatever Boeing loses on the civilian market will pale in comparison to what they sell to the US military in the coming years. That won’t help the workers who get laid off, of course, but I doubt Trump cares about Boeing’s workers any more than he cares about soy bean farmers impacted by his trade war.

The more interesting question is whether the rest of the world has learned that they need to immunize themselves from capricious US sanction regimes. I expect lots of folks who would love to sell stuff to Iran in return for cheaper oil are looking for ways around US sanctions.

It’ll take a while before the rest of the world disentangles themselves from the US-centric financial markets (perhaps via China or Russia?). Once that happens, however, the US will find itself unable to impose its will through force – and may be subject to sanctions imposed by others. Trump will probably be out of office by then, so it’ll be blamed on the Democrats.

  14. drumpf sees the presidentcy as another labeling/marketing scam.
Cohen had to be paying what 15% – 25% off the top for use of the drumpf name.

  15. Linda Phipps says:

RE: what doctors (are paid to ) prescribe…back in gentler times when my children were tiny, our family doctor deferred prescribing and left it to the pharmacy down the street. He claimed he was too busy to read the mountain of brochures from the pharma salesmen. I recall one office visit, “… what do you recommend a 45 pound child who has (blank blank) symptoms”.

  16. WA Skeptic says:

Maybe the world should ask the First Peoples how reliable the word of the US government is. They’d know by firsthand experience. Foolish me, I’d thought there had been some progress in that area.

    Freakin’ Traitor Trump.

    16
  17. I’m personally holding out for 2.4 million. My kung fu is worth twice the uselessness of Michael Cohen.

    17
  18. Lunargent says:

I’m kicking myself for my lack of self-marketing ability.

While I do have some talents and abilities, I’ve also spent a fair chunk of my time being totally useless. And all these years, I did it for free!

  19. Tilphousia says:

Wally, switch to Credo mobile. In addition to reasonable prices they donate money once per month to three different organizations like ACLU, Planned Parenthood. You choose one two or all.

  20. maryelle says:

Say what you will about Dump, he is not useless. Even Putin describes him as a useful idiot. I’m guessing Dump gets a big cut of all Cohen’s ill-gotten gains, so that makes Mikey, Dump’s useful idiot. As is Big (hypocrite) Mike Pence as well.
