And You Thought There Was No Downhill From “Why Did We Fight The Civil War?”

May 02, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Golf Digest is now a news magazine.

They are reporting that there’s a marker on Donald Trump’s golf course marking a Civil War battle that never happened.

The marker reads:

“Many great American soldiers, both of the North and South, died at this spot. The casualties were so great that the water would turn red and thus became known as ‘The River of Blood.’ It is my great honor to have preserved this important section of the Potomac River!”

Hmmmmm.  Not so much.

Every historian they checked with said nope.  Apparently, there was a battle something like that 11 miles up the river, but not here on the Trump golf course, says Richard Gillespie, the executive director of the Mosby Heritage Area Association.

Trump’s response?

Trump … questioned how historians could dispute the battle. “How would they know,” he told the Times. “Were they there?”

Was that the answer he gave on all his history tests?

I’ll bet you a nickel that he got some sort of tax break for preserving a historical site. Yeah, a made-up historical site.

Thanks to Carol for the heads up.

  1. Of course he got a tax break for “preserving” a historical site. He may even have gotten financial assistance from the local historical folks to help identify and preserve the battle ground. That Drumpf is an advantage-taking lying sack of $hit surprises no one around these parts.

  2. As a retired high school history teacher, I continue to be amazed that DJT doesn’t possess basic common knowledge about certain things. That he doesn’t know that scientists, historians, and archeologists actually go to certain historic sites and “dig” to uncover information about it is appalling to me. A Fifth Grade student probably know this, but not the ignorant Talking Yam [TY] in the WH. Sad.

  3. He probably got not only a tax break but an audience of some kind.

Hmmm. Historic? Isn’t he currently trying to negate all the historic sites from his predecessor’s administration? Wait until he unwittingly (she said with a grin) negates his own “historic” site Cuz he doesn’t read!

  5. Yes friends more alternative facts. As we all know the alternative to fact is fiction and trying to pass fiction as fact is lying.
How much of the high moral standards of the Rethuglican Party can America endure ?

    6
  6. This is where our hugest American hero Donald Trump crossed the river yelling “the morons are coming! the morons are coming! Grab ’em by the pussy!”

  7. James Pirtle says:

Wouldn’t it be better to move the Normandy beaches and all their historic significance to Mal Largo? After all, the French have plenty of monuments and they are liars anyway. Who really knows where the invasion took place?

That course isn’t far from where I live. The historians pointed out trump’s lie sometime ago. All of us here know it and trump are phony and he’s been asked to take it down. Also trump bragged that the course was worth $50 million. The county assessors put its value at less than half what trump said. But then he lies about everything to make himself important. All he succeeds in doing is making a huge orange fool of himself.
Hey, cockwomble, go back to where you came from.

And the wording of the “memorial” plaque is so obviously directly from Trump. It uses “great” twice and ends by congratulating himself!

That 25th Amendment solution is looking increasingly plausible–not that it was ever beyond the realm of possibility to begin with. Trump lives in an alternate reality, in which he is Emperor of the Universe.

Tilphousia: Donnie bragged the course was worth $50M. It was appraised at $25M cuz El Cheapo sent in his lawyers to argue it was… wait for it… so to pay less in property taxes! That’s the CJ we all know, right?

    12
  12. JAKvirginia says:

    Correx: Less than $25M. Sorry.

  13. “We’re they there?”

    History is a difficult subject.
On November 8, 2016 I was there in front of my tv watching election returns, but even to this day no one can get me to acknowledge what took place. You sure won’t find a plaque next to my flat screen commemorating the disaster which occurred, and how much hope died that night as the map of America ran red like a River of Blood with massive casualties in health care, science, women’s rights, minority rights…

  14. Hannah says:

“Were they there?” I dunno, was *he* there to know that the “battle” “took place” at his property?

Meanwhile, he continues to maintain that hackers can only be found if caught in action. Lie after lie after lie. Apparently his true believers don’t believe Russia interfered in our election because Herr Drumpf says it didn’t. GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unabated Joy Department. The Washington Post this morning included a multi-page special section simply covered with all the tweets of the Donald for the first 100 days. It is hysterical! I only wish a had a bird in a cage! This was the laugh I really needed!
