Out of the Abyss, One Step at a Time

July 30, 2021 By: El Jefe Category: Corruption, Trump

Today the DOJ ordered the IRS to release Trump’s tax returns to the House Ways & Means Committee, reversing one more Trump corruption of the department.  I’m not celebrating, but grateful we’re gradually taking back our government from the Orange Fascist.  I won’t be happy, though, until a jury reads a verdict of “guilty”.

Hope they release his tax returns before some trump installed federal judge blocks it.
The DOJ also released memos of notes documenting trumpf’s effort to use his DOJ to falsely claim election results were fraudulent. Needed those during his second impeachment.

We’re waiting for the Rufous Ratbastard to get put on the “List of Crime Bosses” Wiki page [somebody please sneak him on there as “Status: at large”]:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_crime_bosses ..

Odds on those returns getting publicly released?

I sure would rather see the head of the tRump Crime Organization wind up like Bugsy, Dutch or Nitti, but getting Capone’d will do just fine.
Go IRS, DoJ, and Congressional hearings…

    Sandridge says @3 …

“public release” of the tax returns would be a leak.

The law says the Ways & Means Committee can get them for its work. “Federal law gives the Ways and Means Committee broad authority to get tax information for any individual (for a “legitimate legislative purpose”). They may send information to other committees — “though the committee cannot disseminate the information to others without taking additional steps.” And I don’t see authorization for a Congressional committee to put the return’s specifics into the public record.

They say a day late and a $ short. I’m thinking there’s plenty of tax $’s not paid but way too late unless it could be tied to the trumpf company cases. I also don’t see a way for congress to release the information to the public. Besides, we already know he paid very little in taxes (and likely cheated).
I’m assuming the cases against the trumpf company already have them. If anything is going to happen, it’ll be thru those cases. Just needs to implicate the orange person specifically to make any difference. Needs to happen before he announces he’s running for office or the right will cry foul, even though it is.
Same applies to the memos that trumpf pressured the DOJ to call his election loss fraudulent. It’s too late.

john in denver @5, I know they’re not supposed to be released, but we can hope for a leak. And it’s pretty certain that the Rethugs would probably surreptitiously leak them and try to pin it on the Democrats. We’d still get ’em.

As for me, I won’t be happy till the Democrats [ARE Manchin and Sinema Democrats? For me the jury is out] get off their duffs and kill the filibuster and pass effective voting legislation. Cut the crap about a “slimmed-down version.” What kind of wimp-ass statement is that in the face of a full-on assault?

If we’d sent a slimmed-down army after the Nazis in the 1940’s, we’d be heiling someone similar to Trump today — and they’d be smart enough to hang onto the perennial power he still craves.

Of course he did. They should have provided them to Congress as soon as the DOJ released them. Knew this would happen. F
