A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.

6OT: Great news from Ukraine.
Putin’s fevered Russian invasion of the sovereign nation of Ukraine has begun to collapse!
The long awaited Ukrainian blitzkrieg against Russian forces in the Kharkiv Oblast of the Donbas region has, in just a few days, captured thousands of kilometers2 of territory, several major towns [and Russki command center garrisons], hundreds of towns and villages, huge quantities of enemy military weapons, ammunition, and stores. Also cutting off and now controlling many major transportation arteries too.
And has tens of thousands of Russian troops fleeing back towards the Russian border to save their asses, abandoning both military and personal gear in their panic-driven retreat.
The offensives in the southern Kherson-Crimean regions aren’t doing too badly either.
This is a massive BFDx100!
Putin is being exposed as a megalomaniac fool [like his puppet Komrade Donnei], and the corrupt and incompetent Russian military as a hollow shadow of its’ former self.
Of course, cornered Russki rats with NUKES just might be crazy enough to incinerate half the globe…

Rightly paranoid Pootei keeps himself extremely well protected and isolated, and most of those who oppose him, including the latest ones, are quickly neutralized, punished, disappeared, or outright murdered.
Vladimir and his minions have near absolute control of all media and keep most Russians brainwashed [just like their clients the GQPeers].
Russian propaganda and media has so far successfully portrayed, to Russkeis, the massive Ukrainian military victories as tactical and strategic Russian forces redeployments.
Of course, the most popular Russki software downloads recently have been VPN progs and apps, so some of them are getting a different view of things.
Let’s make sure that the burners are kept flaming on the vast majority of the Rethuglikans who have very vocally been actively supporting the Russians over the Ukrainians. I’ve been so damned disgusted and pissed off at the local MAGAots around here blatantly cheering on the Russkeis, as their masters have commanded.

The Russian military has been exposed as a hollowed out, corrupt, and incompetent force. But still with a large nuclear force [if it still functions].
If we had provided the Ukrainians with a few squadrons of A10* Thunderbolt/Warthog ground attack/CAS gunships and Apache attack helos, there would have been even more massive “Highways of Death” all over Ukraine.
Thousands of fleeing Russians would have been shot to pieces.
This would have further crippled the supposedly ‘invincible’ Russian military.
The main reason that such technology hasn’t been provided is that the training and logistics for such aircraft is just too complex and time-consuming.
In fact, beyond the huge quantities of military materiel provided by their Western allies [much of it more usable Soviet stuff], captured and abandoned Russian equipment is close to equaling it.
As it is, estimates are that the Russians have lost almost 60,000 KIA in just a few months; compare that to our Vietnam conflict with ~57,000 KIA over more than 15 years.

In Reuters, there was also an article about Russian nationalists that are pressuring putin to speed up the complete takeover of Ukraine with more force. If nothing else, sounds like he’s getting it from at least two sides.
10Steve @10, Actually, almost all of the criticism and delicate attempts at urging Pootei to get tougher or get gone have been coming from the most extreme Russian nationalists and military.
They’re even crazier and more dangerous than Vladimir is, so if they were to depose him, things would get much worse for Ukrainians, Europe, and US. Although I don’t think that the Chinese would allow much to happen before acting against Mother Russia.
Militarily, Russia is facing a massive defeat.
11It is going into the history books as bad as Waterloo, Little Big Horn, Tsushima Straits [Russia lost almost its’ entire navy to the Japanese], Midway, Stalingrad, or Dien Bien Phu.
