Yo! Huckabee and Robertson! Over Here! Texas!
Maybe I missed it, but where are Pat Robertson and Mike Huckabee with pronouncements that the terrible weather in Texas is God’s punishment for something people in Texas have done?
I mean, after all, the state lege has done some stuff. They’ve hated on gay people. They tried to enact a requirement to practically force everybody to carry a weapon on their hip, especially convicted felons. They want to make a woman carry a non-viable fetus to term no matter what her health issues. They tried to cut funds to veterans. They said cutting taxes for the wealthy is a good thing because Texas doesn’t need no damn infrastructure. They want to cut state funding to state colleges and universities. They want to tell local communities that fracking is good for you.
So why would God be punishing us if we’re doing exactly what you say God wants us to do?
Yeah, ‘plain that, guys. How exactly does that work?

1Remember last year, when Rick Perry decided you needed a Day of Prayer to make it rain? All you really needed was to have Rick Perry leave office, and the rains came.
2Now, all you have to do is figure out how to make the rains stop. And don’t go blaming the Global Warming folks. A Super El Nino is coming later this year, so it will get even wetter. Make sure the drains are not clogged.
I was just watching a documentary about the deadliest creatures in America and the South has more than its share. Oddly, politicians were not listed.

5I think it’s Nature’s revenge on politicians who are big ugly blocks in the way of doing anything useful to slow down climate change. You’ll notice it’s hitting Inhofe’s Oklahoma too.
On the other hand, when they say their god was punishing New Orleans for all the gay people, most of those who died or lost everything were poor black people, most of whom were probably not gay, so their god has real lousy aim. Maybe he hit Texas while aiming at Venezuela or Finland or something.

My heart goes out to the people affected by these floods. they’ve lost lives, homes and just about everything they had in the world. Ascribing blame is counter-productive, but the clean-up and recovery, now that’s what we’ll watch closely. Let’s see how quickly Abutt whines for FEMA.

Just checked the EWX WFO (NOAA, our tax dollars at work) and there are three tornadoes on the ground up north of Austin,
EG (this tornado was described as “major” in the previous report):

NEAR GATESVILLE…MOVING NORTHEAST AT 30 MPH.
HAZARD…DAMAGING TORNADO AND QUARTER SIZE HAIL.
SOURCE…WEATHER SPOTTERS CONFIRMED TORNADO.
IMPACT…FLYING DEBRIS WILL BE DANGEROUS TO THOSE CAUGHT WITHOUT
SHELTER. MOBILE HOMES WILL BE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED. DAMAGE
TO ROOFS…WINDOWS AND VEHICLES WILL OCCUR. TREE DAMAGE IS
LIKELY.
THIS TORNADO WILL BE NEAR…
FORT GATES AROUND 240 PM CDT.
GATESVILLE AROUND 245 PM CDT.

11Actually, that whole Katrina thing was exactly designed to destroy a democratic stronghold and flood out a bunch of poor black folks who owned their properties, many of them for generations. Rethugs thought their land would be better for the generation of profits and engineered a land grab that still makes me ashamed to be a member of their species. I know a whole lot of us don’t believe in a god, and stuff like this sure makes one wonder. But I sure do want there to be one; I don’t really care if the people that plan, carry out, or even just benefit from these things go to hell for eternity, but they dam sure have some explaining to do and an almighty debt to repay. I’d like to see those poor people in the role of Lazurus, living it up while his tormentor suffered and had to watch, and I hope Elijah gets to tell the sufferers all about what $&@/!!s they are for stealing those persons’ only lamb, just like he did when David engineered Uriah’s death to get Bathsheba (Beersheba? Can’t recall) Uriah’s beautiful wife!
12I figured Austin is getting hit because they allowed the legislature to show up and screw up things even more… BTW, there was just a tornado in Cuidad Aquino across the border, 13 dead… DH just came in and told me.
