Well, This is Going Well…

July 21, 2017 By: El Jefe Category: Russians, Trump

The Washington Post is reporting this morning that several sources have said that Trump and his attorneys are investigating his powers to pardon his staff, his family, and even himself.  That’s right, folks, the President of the United States, SIX MONTHS INTO HIS TERM, is already trying to figure out how to get out of criminal charges that are surely forthcoming.  At the same time, his talking heads, lead by his Chief Bloviator, Newt Gingrich, are already trying to discredit special prosecutor Bob Mueller and his team of high powered lawyers.

Now, I understand that I’m just a dumb bread baker and beer brewer from Way-the-Hell-Down-in-Texas, but I’m just recalling what my Old Man taught me when I was a mere sprite working with him in his wood shop – he said to me, “Those who scream the loudest are the most guilty.” – or at least something like that.  That lesson certainly applies here.  Trump who is a career huckster and liar knows deep-down that there is one truth…he and his family are guilty as hell, and he KNOWS he’s going to get caught – Bigly.

They may not understand that accepting a Presidential pardon is an admission of guilt, and that it removes the Fifth Amendment protection re: testifying against yourself. Also a pardon does not protect against impeachment.

Even if they can’t be punished beyond impeachment, we may finally get rid of the lot of them, and find out what the hell happened.

Mueller’s investigators are being investigated by WH staff for conflicts of interest of all things.

A group that doesn’t recognize conflicts among themselves surely won’t find any anywhere else, will they? 🙂 🙂

  3. Please see Burdick v. U.S. (236 U.S. 79 (1915))

“This brings us to the differences between legislative immunity and a pardon. They are substantial. The latter carries an imputation of guilt; acceptance a confession of it.” Tricky Dick knew this. When Tricky Dick accepted Ford’s pardon, he confessed to everything for which he was impeached and more. The biggest rollover in history, bigger even than the Titanic sinking.

One word for all: “popcorn”. Sales are about to skyrocket!

  4. It was obvious to anyone with half a brain when Trump first started campaigning that this would come up sooner or later.

When the news was published that no American bank would loan money to Trump his voter base didn’t care. But it was obvious that his affluence had to be supported from somewhere.

When the Trump pipsqueak announced that their funding came from Russia the Trump his voter base didn’t care. But it was obvious that he was deep in debt to corrupt Russians and it is hard to imagine none of them were connected to Putin.

It was amusing to read/hear his grandiose statement that the Russians didn’t owe him any money when nobody accused him of that. The Trump voter base didn’t care but it confirmed the above.

When it is reported how dirty Trump’s business practices are with fraud and questionable accounting his voter base didn’t care. But it was obvious the the rest of us that his business wouldn’t pass legal muster if looked at by authorities.

However now that some of the Trump voters are just beginning to realize he is going to sign a death warrant on someone close to them or possibly themselves by destroying the ACA, now they care.

When Trump started I didn’t see how he could last a year without resigning. He might but it is going to be a very unpleasant road for him.

As long as the SOBOTUS, his crime family and associates don’t trip-wire us into a nuclear war (DPRK*, or even a conventional one), it might be best to have them hanging in there as a reminder of what you get when you vote Rethug. Until the 2018 elections are over.
None of the Rethug base are going to come to their senses and peel away, get cured of their Trumpophrenia; but maybe enough independents and motivated ‘non’ voters will be slapped awake in Nov 2018.

    * Or even Iran, they don’t have an active nuclear capability (yet), but they know how to ‘enrich’ conventional weapons to make them nuke-dirty, and have plenty of delivery missiles (short&mid-range, we’re not directly threatened).

Trump should never have been allowed to run for President, given his penchant for fraud, stiffing contractors, stunning intellectual defects and questionable finances. Before he is through, our country may be in crisis on all fronts, domestic and foreign. As much as I would love to see him in jail, the real priority is to get him out of power as soon as possible. He’s already passed secrets to the Russians and agreed to concessions in Syria without the knowledge or agreement of his cabinet. How much longer do those slack-jawed Rethugs want to wait before calling for impeachment?

  8. Frankly, I think that the Rethugs are praying like mad that the House and Senate goes Democratic in the midterms. that would definitely mean an impeachment, but it won’t have their fingerprints on it. They would rather have it done this way than man up and do it themselves.

    Maggie –
Yes, but that means that some of them would lose their seats.
And your know how it is: everybody wants to go to Heaven, but nobody wants to die.
