They Never Claimed That Grammar Is Their Strong Point

In writing their state platform, truly a work of mental derangement, Texas Republicans got all carried away hating on homosexuals.  To see it for yourself, click here and go to #85.

So, what this says is that the majority of Texans are homosexuals.

I don’t think that’s what they meant.  But, you know, I could be wrong.

Thanks to Paul for the heads up.

  1. You must admit that whatever they meant, they chose a queer way to say it.

damned Oxford commas!! I guess they must not teach writing in Texas schools anymore!!

    Oh, Good Lord.
Years ago, I wrote a piece urging the US to just get on with letting the secessionists have their way.

It should have listened to me.

Still, I will admit, I should have figured out a territory that pushed the border farther north. I’ll get to work on that directly.

Aren’t they ALL just so special? Good grief!! These self-righteous morons give me a headache, gut ache, and they are a total pain in the ass!!

And on top of it, it’s OK to discriminate if you are a KKKristian.

alas, the link returned a 404 code. And I was looking forward to the Texas Republican Platform document for 2016. I have the one from 2008 and 2012 and, although it cannot be classified as “light reading” it’s still good for a laugh or two. Where do you get these people?

  7. not stupid says:

Does anyone who believe that the bible is the word Of Jesus, think again. They did not write that at that time because they did not write anything.

  8. Adam Eran says:

Strangely enough, one never hears people like this tout the “fundamental unchangeable truth” about the Bible’s prohibition of usury, or those jubilee years when all the loans were forgiven.

…Oh yes, and Leviticus says you cannot have permanent ownership of land! Oh the humanity! Oh the property rights!

Then there’s that little commandment forbidding covetousness. Heck, we’ve got a covetousness *industry* in the U.S. I’ll believe these people are Bible believers, not homophobes when I see pickets on Madison Ave.

  9. That’s what you get when one dollar folks try using three dollar words. If they had just uttered “We hate dem gays. That ain’t natural and us good Christian folk won’t stand for it” they would have been much better off.

    9
  10. They’ve changed it from “truths that has” to “truths that have”.
This changes the subject of “recognized by our nation’s founders, and shared by the majority of Texans” from “behavior” to “truths”.
    Shorter sentences usually avoid ambiguity.

    What Oriquy said.
    Here’s another instance:
“We oppose the granting of special legal entitlements or special status for homosexual behavior.”

Who knew they were in favor of gay marriage? After all, not being allowed to marry DOES grant “special status.” Being ALLOWED to marry is the norm.

Ditto for denying people the right to enter public restrooms without fear of coming to harm. Anyone else who was harassed or injured in a public place or in private would have legal recourse – but not gays. Talk about “special legal status!”

Gee, why don’t they make up their minds? Do they want to treat gays “special” or don’t they?

[Just an aside here: when, oh when, are Republicans going to acknowledge the true meaning of ‘entitled’ or “entitlement?” It’s not something that is “unearned.” Quite the reverse, aamof.]

Now you-all have gone and laughed too loud. The Republicans heard you and have taken it down. Did anybody get a screen shot?

  13. The very best part of this is that it has hit media all over the country. Can you hear the laughter!

Beware the power of the Gay Agenda in the hands of the snacilbupeR! With one stroke of the pen, the snacilbupeR made an entire state homosexual.

  17. I expected to click the link to the platform and find that they’d accidentally left their porn tabs open.

Of course, controlling other people’s sex lives is porn for Repubs. It’s called “voyeurism.”

@ Pete Peterson#6- Texas doesn’t get those people from anywhere, they grow them at home, there in that whole other country.
