The End of the Beginning

March 23, 2019 By: El Jefe Category: Mueller, Russian Hacking, Trump

As we await the Barr Report on the Mueller Report, Trump’s TeeVee Howlers are proclaiming “nothing to see here”, and “the witch hunt is finally over”.  We all know, though, that it’s not over, not by a long shot.  Mueller sending his report to Justice is just the end of the beginning.  The Dems are already talking about subpoenaing Mueller to testify before the House Intelligence Committee in their own investigation.  The State of New York has multiple criminal investigations against Trump’s “charity”, his real estate company, and against individuals tied to him like Roger Stone and Michael Cohen.  The most ironic investigation is the one of Trump’s inaugural committee where ACTUAL collusion with foreign powers is pretty apparent with evidence of using straw donors to launder money into the Trump’s coffers.

Trump, who usually spends his nights and weekends tweet-raging, is uncharacteristically quiet this weekend, hiding and playing golf in Mara Lago.  You know that Barr has already reported Mueller’s findings to him; also, he has not yet provided the promised summary of the findings to the public. That his attorneys are with him his no surprise.  The White House is claiming there is no war room set up in Trumpland, but you know that’s bullshit, and that his legal team is all hands on deck.

With 37 indictments, 8 guilty pleas, prison sentences and multiple trials in various stages, my guess is that the contents of this report is not nothing.  This is just the end of the Mueller investigation, which is just the beginning of a multi-front legal and political battle.

  1. Can’t wait for the guilty rodents to come out of their hole. You know they will. they have to. Just imagining the “pounce” that will land on them here in the real world.

While we’re waiting for the long awaited premiere to start, here is a public service announcement… Aww man, do we have to???

  3. Trump supporters are crowing victory now that they’ve put on their X-Ray vision spectacles, purchased in the back pages of a comic book which allow them to see the unreleased Mueller Report from a great distance and through closed doors.

Yet, these same people can’t see Trump bankruptcies, business failures, questionable bank loans, etc? Depends where you look I guess.

Maybe, since there’s nothing going on here, everything on the up and up, they could put those X-Ray Specs to good use and tell the rest of us what’s in Trump’s tax returns, line by line?

Trump supporters crow victory no matter what’s actually happening. Trump could be frog marched to state prison in a suit that matches his “tan” and Trump supporters would be loudly claiming he had retired to his villa in the south of France.

  5. And the investigation has paid for itself.

  6. I have a theory about Barr and I hope I am right. I have heard that his reputation is sterling and that he is an institutionalist. He was retired, already serving as AG once. Would he come out of retirement and risk his eternal reputation to serve tRump – or did he go in and say all the right things to tRump, hoping to be the guy that took down this evil president. I am really hoping it is the latter.

I understand Thump hasn’t tweeted in over 24 hours. Nothing. That has to be significant.

  8. The cost of the investigation was money well spent even if all its does is silence this mf sob excuse for a human being.

I’ve given up hope for impeachment. The snacilbupeR who want their party back should present an alternative candidate in every 2020 primary. And of course the Dems should proffer an electable candidate in 2020. And the Dems should do everything in their power to dissuade progressive leaning candidates from running as independents or third parties.

I couldn’t believe the Orange AssClown’s (ir)rationale for Mueller not being qualified to investigate him. It’s because Mueller’s never won an election, and Trump got 63 million votes. Yep, President LooneyTunes still thinks he’s on a reality show, and all that matters is ratings.

Hell; if the criterion is number of votes received, we should have had Hillary run the investigation.

  11. twocrows says:

Yep — it’s the end of the beginning all right. As we’ve been told by reporters repeatedly, Mueller has been handing off one case after another after another that don’t fit within his very strict mandate.

Odds are, all Mueller’s report will reveal are the Russian bad actors. It’s all those OTHER reports and trials and convictions that will uncover the criminals in this country.

Thus Trump / Mara Lago / legal team this weekend.

In a reverse of the canary in the coal mine, Rudy G was sent out to test the Mueller Report breeze.

  13. At first, I was disappointed to learn that there would be no more indictments. Upon reflection, the investigations in the SDNY and the New York AG may be a much better “unpardonable” way to go. Also, if Trump is impeached, Pence will undoubtedly pardon him and the rest of the snakes of federal crimes. We’ve got to get rid of all of them at once, then start the indictments. A Democratic sweep of the White House and Senate while holding onto the House in 2020.

COMEY REDUX – FIX – WHITEWASH – PURPLE SHAFT – WTF! -2 lousy years

We are fucked. Not even a littering charge.

Attorney General Bill Barr announced Sunday that he and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein have concluded that there is no basis to bring a charge of obstruction of justice charge against President Donald Trump based Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s findings. He also said in a letter to Congress that Mueller’s team did not find evidence that Trump participated in the underlying crime regarding Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

“The Special Counsel did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election,” Barr’s letter said.

It explained that Mueller decided not to answer in his own report whether Trump decided to obstruct justice in the course of the investigation. In this way, he did not “exonerate” Trump or conclude he committed a crime — he simply laid out the evidence relevant to the question. However, Barr said that he and Rosenstein have concluded that the conduct does not amount to obstruction, particularly in light of the fact that Mueller concluded that Trump did not coordinate or conspire with Russia.

    Comment from the above link…

“TOTAL WHITEWASH -TOTAL BULL…Apparently per CNN, the AG consulted the WH Attorneys, before this summery disclosure to the Congress and public. While this summary says it ‘doesn’t exonerate’ Trump, for sure he got what he wanted. I bet the President is having organisms (sp) over this phony cover up of him. The Democrats must go full steam ahead and go after Trump and all of his inner circle in committee hearing and continue their efforts to keep check of Trump.”

  18. maryelle says:

It sure is a whitewash! The House of Reps may set things straight. Now we will have to listen to the thugs crowing.
Mueller let us down big time and Barr is complicit in declaring that Individual #1 did not obstruct. It seems that decision should be made by Congress.

  19. megasoid says:

@maryelle – Mueller let us down big time and Barr is complicit in declaring that Individual #1 did not obstruct. It seems that decision should be made by Congress.

That is a salient and most pertinent point.

As people begin to see the wreckage and theft of their lives in realtime, the bastard’s manmade catastrophes and natural disasters – relentless flooding, forest fires, fuel tanks exploding in Texas, sending toxic carcinogens over the state. The dogs of privilege: Dems and GOpissants aren’t going to like the rage coming from the heartland.

  21. Jane & PKM says:

Barr burped a wild load of covfefe. It’s time for Democrats in Congress to go on offense against the spin and lies. Without having seen the report, it’s difficult to claim (yet) that Barr isn’t guilty of obstruction of justice or whatever else associated with his summary. Absent the report, there’s more than sufficient grounds already in the public domain that the Russian colluding emoluments clause ***king moron along with his family and co-conspirators have sold us out, multiple times.

It’s disappointing that Bob Mueller didn’t lead a team of feebs to the WH door to arrest the traitors. Again, without seeing the report, it’s too early to say that Mueller didn’t leave a trail of evidence in multiple jurisdictions and enough for a non-complicit Congress to impeach IQ45.

    21
  22. Barr summary out. Full of “whereas”. I know that sounds way too polite for what is really happening but heck I went to church today and it hasn’t yet worn off. The summary is supposed to be 4 pages, but it is more like 3.5 pages what with the addresses on the first page and the signatures on the last. Trump is not exonerated. He thinks he is simply because he is not at the moment in handcuffs. I will actually spend my lunch money on a copy of the full report. And I can’t wait for the House to get the full report. This jive about there being no underlying crime which would lead to impeachment is a load of caca del toro. Amnion remember Watergate? An underlying crime was not necessary to get rid of Nixon. The extraordinarily close proximity of criminal acts was enough to do it.

    22
  23. i have heard the comment (in this state) : yeah, we know he’s guilty, we just can’t catch him….

    23
  24. Lunargent says:

Well, ain’t that a truckload of wet fireworks.

    What a depressing, disgusting conclusion.

It can’t all have been for nothing. But Trump and all his GOP minions will use it to actively and vociferously obstruct every future attempt to investigate this wretched tower of crime, lies, and bigotry.

    Crap.

    24
  25. It’s reasonable to infer that the activities of the coven long ago triggered a counterintelligence investigation, which wouldn’t be effected by the conclusion of the Mueller investigation. We wouldn’t know of it in any case. And neither would Trump

    25
  26. So according to the tweets, Miss Lindsay super pleased. No need for an extra box of tissues in the Senate for now……save the tears for losing your. Next election, girl.

    26
  27. At this point I really don’t know who to believe anymore—What the hell was “Russia if you are listening, find Crooked Hilary’s 30,00 emails”. Was that just idle chit chat?

Trump can bloviate all he wants. He was party to a lot of crimes that were committed and this isn’t over.

  29. FitzMas redux. An Orangewash. Vladimir is laughing his ass off.
A few indictments, convictions (awaiting pardons, like Scooter’s), then fizz and spin.
It’s up the the House Dems now.
    .
One point: The spooks (CIA-NSA-etc) monitor, record, and store, via “technical means” (I once knew some), almost all voice and data going and coming from overseas.
It’s certain that all traffic with Russia has been monitored and recorded for decades.
The evidence of Russo-Trump conspiracy, collusion, compromat is in there…how or if it is ever obtained or used is the locus of all of this.

  30. Linda Phipps says:

I nominate Barr for “Speed Reading King Forever” as he was able to peruse 20,000 pages and create a summarizing letter in what, two whole days?
