Get this: Donald Trump’s Volunteer Coordinator in Ohio just announced, “I don’t think there was any racism before Obama got elected,” and then proceeds to spew a bucket of racist statements.
No, seriously, she blames racism on Obama. Go watch it. I’ll wait for you.

5Ok, so this is an example of the better out than in theory. Up until fairly recently, I’d bet this woman never would have said this to someone she didn’t know. Much less a reporter. With a video camera. Tuned on and pointed at her. But since Donnie has ridden into town like the heroic klansman from the original Birth of a Nation, well shucks, why would they call it free speech if you can’t “call a spade a spade”? And now a lot of folks who thought she was a pillar of the community can see a side of her they might never have seen even a couple of years ago. As repugnant as it is to hear, it produced a positive result. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

17I used to think racism and bigotry of all stripes might be erased in my lifetime. I am old now, and a little more realistic, and bigotry and ignorance of the people who are supporting Trump is going to be a generational battle. I can only try to do my best to not be one of them and try to teach my grandchildren to not be like. I will continue to reach out, despite my belief it is like pissing into the wind, but boy, does it get tiresome.
