I don’t know why everybody is so upset about Jeb’s comment.

After all, Stuff Happens is kinda the Bush family motto.

  1. Free Republic’s article about Jeb! has the usual suspects comments…many of which admit they won’t vote for him but do agree with him

This comment in re: why this “stuff happens” was dunning: “The real answer would be to try to end fatherlessness by ending feminist socialism.”

Of course, more stuff will happen as per this commenter: “because of the hysterical reactions of knee-jerk socialists, many will buy even more firearms and ammunition”

  2. The last nail has been pounded into the coffin for “The Smart One”.

  3. Elizabeth Moon says:

My letter to my Congressman this morning:

The 2nd Amendment was intended to allow individuals to defend themselve…NOT to allow individuals to murder fellow citizens, and not to allow domestic terrorists to arm themselves to commit terrorist acts.

In order to allow responsible, law-abiding citizens to obtain and maintain firearms, without putting everyone at risk of attack in schools, churches, playgrounds, and so on–and considering the much greater firepower and efficacy of modern weapons compared to the single-shot weapons available when the Constitution was written, we need better laws to control sales of firearms, and we need research into ways to make sure mature, responsible law-abiding persons obtain them, and vicious potential terrorists do not.

Congress has been blocking both of these. STOP IT. And stop saying “it coudn’t be prevented, nothing could be done” and all the other crap you NRA shills say in Congress. As your constituent–a gun-owning constituent–I want Congressional action, not blather, on the problem of domestic terrorists, white supremacists, religious bigots obtaining guns with the intent of “making a statement” at a school or church or park.

It CAN be stopped. It SHOULD be stopped. And you are part of the problem. You and the GOP have created the climate of fear, paranoia, conspiracy theory, you have coddled the white supremacists, the religious bigots, just to get votes.

You cannot reasonably claim to be pro-life for a fertilized egg and then lackadaisical in standing up for the rights of innocent people not to be shot down in the name of the 2nd Amendment.
    ……………………………………
This won’t do any good, because nothing gets through to that bozo, but at least it’s been sent.

Standing on the table (metaphorically speaking) and shouting HURRAY! BRAVO! Keep on pounding the pulpit. I guess we could boycott that big fancy store where you have to go to buy bows and arrows, Caballa’s. No, I don’t think that would work either. Last time I was out there, I thought, we live in a fantasy island inside Austin. Caballa’s is just outside the city limits and has signs all over the store saying PROTECT YOUR 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS or some such.

  5. Marge Wood says:

and the KKK is recruiting in and around Austin….

  6. Is it considered nepotism when Jeb! wins this week’s “Barbara Bush Sensitivity to People in Crisis Award”?

  7. That Other Jean says:

Oh, look! It’s the Three Stooges–but not nearly as funny.

    7
  8. Yes, we all know that “stuff” stood in for something else. But its still stupid and insensitive and obviously the speaker spent zip time thinking of something better to say. Tells ya a lot, doesn’t it?

  9. Polite Kool Marxist says:

RA, nah. Babs said it ‘better.’ Former First Lady Barbara Bush said of the war in Iraq: “Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? It’s not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?”

That’s the stuff or stuffing of the Bush Crime Family. Ship them to The Hague and RICO their profits prior to the days of First Bush Criminal, Prescott Bush.

Yes, stuff happens and so long as it isn’t to their profits, they file empathy between shit and syphilis. Say what? Did you expect any of them to dirty their patrician paws with actual filing?

  10. Marge Wood says:

I thought she said it after Hurricane Katherine. Or was that when she said those people never had it so good?

    10
  11. Marge Wood says:

I’m tired of going back and forth between the Bush family and the Clinton family. YOu reckon they both have crests on their blazers and banners and letterheads?

    11
  12. Marge Wood, I believe she said of of the post-Katrina refugees living in a Houston stadium, “This is working out well for them.” There was more to the remark but it really didn’t make it sound any better.

  13. Marcia in CO says:

    Big, HUGE, sigh!!

  14. Stuff happened …the killer’s mom has been silent since the slaughter, unlike his devastated horrified dad. Mom has been a mouthy role model, until now, about how when the mood strikes, she open carries her AR, AK. Tek-9 or Sig Sauer P226. (because shotguns are too cumbersome)

  15. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Full on Babs post Hurricane Katrina: “And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this (she chuckles slightly)–this is working very well for them.”

The stuff of which the Bush Crime Family is made is not suitable reading material for Mama.

    15
  16. Ralph Wiggam says:

He’s the smart one? Compared to what? Chopped liver?

    16
  17. This one is not fit for human companionship, let alone the presidency. May the stuff happen to him!

    17
  18. Sociopaths seem to run in families. Offhand I can’t think of a single Bush who isn’t a sociopath with no empathy for others.

    18
  19. Stuff like this is happening, too.

A New Jersey Republican candidate dropped out of the race after a book he wrote surfaced that includes rants against Jews, Asians, gays, immigrants, breast-feeding moms, sluts with helium in their heels and others. He’s a “Speak English” zealot whose writings reveal his spelling & grammar skills are not what he thinks they are. http://tinyurl.com/nczludk

In Florida, wrapped in the flag Augustus Sol Invictus (psst..Sol Invictus is an ancient sun god who was patron of Roman soldiers), whom is refusing to reveal his real name while running for the Senate as a Libertarian, sacrificed a goat & drank its blood and posts incantations (with various accents) on his Youtube channel. He rants about ie: “the cult of the constitution.” http://tinyurl.com/n98egmd

The chairman of the Libertarian Party of Florida, upset that Invictus is calling for civil war, recruits neo-nazi’s and more has resigned to call attention to Invictus.

This is Invictus’ youtube channel he set up for his candidacy in all its glory. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsdPzJBJYQlsKigw_3XTqJw

  20. Sam in San Antonio says:

Be careful not to step in piles of Bush in the pasture.

    20
  21. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Ralph Wiggam, smart compared to the dog dump Millie Bush took on the White House lawn when CIA criminal GHW Bush was the occupant.

Seems GHW and Babs produced children dumber than the dumps any of their dogs took.

  22. JAKvirginia says:

Hey, hey, hey! Let’s go easy on chopped liver! Okay, Ralph?

    22
  23. there’s a sister who is never seen or heard. maybe she’s the smart one!

    23
  24. Elizabeth Moon says:

Marge Wood: Bill Clinton did not have a dynasty behind him–his biological father died before he was born in a car wreck; his mother was a single mom for several years before marrying his stepfather, who was a drunk and and abusive and owned a car dealership. His mother and stepfather divorced and remarried while he was in his teens, in high school. His stepfather died in 1967, of cancer, while Bill Clinton was in college. Hillary’s father ran a small business. There’s no indication of dynasty there, either, though the family was Midwestern solidly middle class, not southern teetering on the edge.

sybil: Here’s the Wikipedia (yes, I know…) entry for the youngest Bush sibling, Dorothy:

Well enmeshed in the family businesses.

  26. Sandridge says:

Vampire bats are cute and cuddly compared to this clan.

(I know you’ve all seen video of vampire bats working over sleeping livestock or whatever, brrr)

    26
  27. Jeeze, it’s starting to look like W is the “smart” one after all — Lord knows he’s a slow learner, but at least he now knows enough to mostly keep his head down. I almost feel a little sorry for George HW — an entire family of “stuff.” Not much of a legacy, is it?

    27
  28. Elizabeth Moon: Well said!

    28
  29. Sybil, that would be Dorothy a/k/a Doro. She lives quietly elsewhere and i do mean quietly. i get the impression that she does not want to be part of that crowd.

    29
  30. PKM, I remember when the great Babs said that. I was incensed well beyond fury. My eldest, a “former” Marine, served in Gee Duh-bya’s “Mission Accomplished” Iraq. The hubs, a minister, officiated the funeral of Army Captain Mark Garner, a West Point grad, after Mark was killed by an IED in Afghanistan. Mark had more integrity in a nail clipping than Gee Duh-bya will have in his whole life. Yep, the Buck Fush pin on my bulletin board will remain until my last breath. Those “people” are evil.

  31. JAKvirginia says:
