Remember Trump’s Voter Fraud Commission?

And remember Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach who headed up the now defunct Commission?

Well, he’s running for Governor of Kansas, and doing everything he can to look like a red-blooded, gun shooting, Jesus praying, star spangled American. That includes being a member of the advisory board for Veterans in Defense of Liberty, a group that claims to be helping veterans.

But, of course, like true Republicans, they are only helping themselves.

A review of the group’s 2014 and 2015 filings with the Internal Revenue Service showed that 94 percent of the money donated to the group went to fundraisers, according to a news release from the Better Business Bureau.

Kobach, who is not – repeat NOT – a veteran, said he has served on the board for six years “because he cares deeply about veterans and veterans’ issues,” but this was the first he heard about any of this money stuff.

Kobach said that his understanding was that money donated to the group was “going to a variety of causes for veterans … and also to support political causes and issues important to veterans as well.”

Veterans in Defense of Liberty’s website includes a July 2017 post calling on veterans to support the push to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

“Brothers and sisters, let us stand strong to our oath! We can no longer sit back and bitch ‘n moan,” the post states.

“We must realize, Americas future rests on our shoulders. President Trump is fighting to make America great again, but he cannot do it alone — we must stand strong and fight for and support him.”

Oh hell yeah, that’s those political causes.  I imagine endorsing Kobach for looking the other way is also one of those political causes.

Sumbitches.  Using veterans to line their own pockets.

Thanks to Alfredo over at the Dairy Queen for the heads up.

  1. That’s why I have two questions for any fund raiser: Are you a paid fund raiser and what percentage of my donation actually goes to the cause?

I just got a packet from these butt-heads yesterday. They’re clearly delusional. Too paid it didn’t include a postage-paid envelope so I could mail in several ounces of my latest Sierra Club magazine and mailings from Planned Parenthood and NARAL (which is what I did with the postage-paid envelope from the Koch brothers and ‘Americans for the Prosperous’ earlier in the week).

And I would bet at least 94% of the fundraising money is going to people in the organization. That’s how trump does it. Set up a “business” have the government or individuals donate to you. Hire your business for fundraising. Didn’t El Hefe have something a while back about the RICO act and money laundering?

  5. You do know that God made sheep to be sheared don’t you.

  6. I don’t know how these things work, but it seems to me that anybody who’s been on the board for six years and claims not to know that only 6% of the money goes to the cause they’re rootin’ and tootin’ for is either a) stupid b) not paying the attention a board member should or c) in on the con. So which is it, Kris boy?

  7. How big was his “honorarium?”

  8. Pity we can’t find out how big an interest Kris has in the fund raising group.

I do just what Paul does. The going rate for the’Police anything’ scam is 85% to the paid fundraisers. Kobach is a scammer from the start. A real skunk.

AAAARRRRGGHHHH! I have been on several boards in my lifetime – ALWAYS do board members have a fiduciary responsibility to verify that the money is being well spent and accounted for. So I decided to open their 990 and take a looke at what they have first and foremost their fundraising activtities $555,764 gross receipts. Amount paid to fundraiser $525,468. That leaves a little over 5% retained by the organizer. Momma, please go to another room. Those f$cking a$$holes are taking every damn cent. But wait there is more!!!

William S Magill (President) has a loan from the organization of $81,445 – oh yes approved by the board but NO DAMN WRITTEN AGREEMENT!!!!!!

Time for the IRS to shut them down!!!!!!!!!

OK Momma, come back in. Gosh I could sure use one of those Girl Scout Shortbread cookies right about now.

  11. The penalty for being involved with a Veterans scam like Veterans in Defense of Liberty should be manditory enlistment in the Marines at the start of the next war, no matter their age or bone spurs. Let them find out what they think of people like themselves after a few years abroad, when they finally return to the US of A and kiss the earth at the bottom of the last step off the transport plane.

Tape the postage paid envelope to a haydite block and give it to one of the highly trained postal clerks in your local post office. It’ll make their day and the the account of the mass mailer will be about $60 lighter.

  13. Scammity Hannity has been doing the same thing for many years with his fraudulent ‘Freedumb Concerts’. Their IRS 990’s show that the organizers (Scammity et al) have been skimming off almost all of the money (and ‘in kind’) donated by the teabagger fools that attend those Repukefests.
It’s always amazed me how these teabagger yoyo’s feel that they can afford to piss away their usually limited money on stuff like these scams and MAGA hats, etc. (and I know a bunch of them).

  14. Kobach is not only as mean as second skimmings, he is also a sociopath. I don’t care how many times is photographed with one of his kids. Amazing thawed sociopaths use children as distractions. I am surprised that Kansas lets this guy run loose. He should be under examination by a special prosecutor.

This was truly frightening.. I clicked the link to his FB page without being logged in and got this pop up:

“See more of Congressman Blake Farenthold on Facebo”

I thought I was going to throw up….
