Michelle!

July 26, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Oh y’all, Michelle Obama is the cream on the peaches.  Her speech was such a wonder (sweet and tart) last night that I can hardly wait to hear Melania repeat it.

I’ll up our starting line up against their starting line up any day of the week and give them North Dakota’s electoral votes head start.

Hay Drumpf— This lady is what class looks like.
So go to the other end of the play ground and call names.

  2. Best speech of the night was FLOTUS. I saw a headline on Huffpo, “FLOTUS like a butterfly, sting like a bee.” Cory Booker was outstanding. Both were uplifting but spoke hard truths too.

  3. 1smartcanerican says:

Yes, she was absolutely wonderful! Corey was fiery and uplifting. Bernie was also good, his fans no so much. All in all, a very positive night, so different than the GOP convention opening night. Loved it!

Mrs. Obama makes me proud to be a Democrat. The President and First Lady have been such a great team for this country and have set the bar extremely high. They will be sorely missed.

I am hopeful that when the Sanders supporters see the upcoming narrative of Hillary’s lifetime endeavors, they may start to see how far we’ve come because of them. I don’t know if he’s scheduled to speak, but I very much hope that John Lewis gets some speaking time too.

  5. Polite Kool Marxist says:

How effective was FLOTUS Obama? Donnie Drumpf has a war room in Philly set up specifically to spew after each speaker at the DNC. (I kid you not) The brigade of short stubby fingers was absolutely silent after the First Lady spoke. They had nothing.

  6. Marcia in CO says:

I thought every speaker was fantastic in their own right!! Cory Booker totally blew me away, as did Michelle Obama!!
I loved Sarah Silverman’s statement: Bernie or Bust people … you’re being ridiculous!! And those same Bernie folks, after Bernie sent out a tweet for NO PROTESTS, put tape over their mouths … some with the word “SILENCED” written on the tape. How perfectly juvenile!!
When the roll is called up yonder and Bernie’s name is yelled to the high heavens, those same people yelling the loudest are probably the ones who will refuse to vote for Hillary. I’m hoping by the end of this week, those same people will realize that their non-Dem votes will only help Drumpf!! November will be a very telling time for them and us!!

Drumpf not impressed with Booker. Claims to know more about Booker than Booker does.

Drumpf critiqued every nano-second of DNC and claims it a wreck compared to his own coronation.

  8. Last night was great. Ms. Obama and Cory Booker were so uplifting.

I appreciate that most of these Bernie supporters are very young and have no experience in anything political until Bernie.

They are gonna poison the well. That said as the matriarch of a bunch of Bernie voters, turned Hillary voters.

  9. austinhatlady says:

@Marcia in Co. I also thought the speaker lineup was fantastic. Each new person who came to the podium was inspiring. Took JJ’s advice and switched from the news in favor of all-convention-all-the-time channel.

#MoocherDonnie – that is a well organized convention. Your mess looked like this.

  11. And how about Elizabeth Warren’s take-down of donnie? Was that awesome or what. And I have to say, the Kennedy kid’s intro was pretty good. Who else got a chuckle when he said how he never went to her class unprepared again? It was only a little later that it occurred to me. She called on him first. By name. She knew who he was and not so gently informed him that he wouldn’t get any special treatment. And he appreciated it. Because it turns out that he’s a good guy. Goosebumps.

    11
  12. FLOTUS was very much worth waiting for! It was like the cherry on the top of the sundae!

    12
  13. What struck me the most was FLOTUS’ comment about having to explain to her girls how the names/comments about “daddy’s nationality or religion” had to be ignored and when the hits are low they rise higher. There have been so many times in the last 7+ years that I was ashamed to be white lest someone associate me with the foul mouthed, name-calling opposition that was so racist I expected God to hurl a bolt of lightning at the offending so-called Christians. It hurts now to know how much they were aware of – that children that young had to be more adult than the adults. I also remember the hate and ugliness hurled at Amy Carter and Chelsea Clinton — I have never understood that. How it is fair game to speak such filth. Was it EW that said how terrible it was to call women names he would be outraged if anyone called HIS wife/daughters the same?

OK Donald can have Scott B., we had Paul freaking Simon and the oh so funny Al Franken and that was night ONE.

    13
  14. Mary Beth says:

Mrs. O was amazing. That is one of the top 10 political convention speeches I have ever heard, and I’m a stone cold political junkie. She was wonderful. And I share the heartbreak that her beautiful children heard anything against Pres. Obama. He has been an inspiration. He easily could have won a third term. We’ll wait a long time for another person as worthy of admiration as he. I hope Mrs. Clinton does well. She has had a $hitload of stuff thrown at her. As a nation, we need to grow up and live our values.

    14
  15. Only a very few of Bernie’s supporters are being rude and I suspect they never so much supported him as attached themselves to him to have a vehicle for attacking Clinton.

These rabid B-Busters (and why would any rational person choose ‘Bust’?) remind me of Tea Partiers. Their issues are different, but they are convinced they should have their own way 100%, no compromise, immediately, and they behave like spoiled children at a candy counter if they don’t get it.

  16. wallyinfl says:

That was a great speech the Obama’s are special people and our country has been made better because of them.

The RWNJ’s are already criticising her awesome speech they have no shame. There is not one single republican that has the class and intelligence Barac and Michelle Obama posess in abundance.

    16
  17. maryelle says:

    Well said, LynnN!

    17
  18. lyntilla says:

I thought Ms. Obama’s speech was very good. I’ve been thinking about the “when they go low, we go high”. I believe they have lived that and that is admirable. However, I’m kind of tired of “going high” with the republicans. I’m looking for a POTUS that has a different, more aggressive strategy. I think that may be why I’m such a fan of Hillary. While she can and has “gone high”, she also can, and will, demonstrate a different strategy. Something like “if they hit low, Hit back – hard and fast”. While I have enjoyed and admired the Obamas, I’m kind of looking forward to Madam President, who I think will be no holds barred from day one.

First time in a year I have felt good about our country. Best speeches ever.

    19
  20. 1smartcanerican says:

In discussing last night with a friend, she reminded me that many of the Bernie supporters, the young ones, have not studied history or civics in school so have little to understand how government works. No wonder they are acting out so badly.

  21. e platypus onion says:

I don’t like HRC. I will vote for her because she and Bill have been drug through the mud for thirty plus straight years and she is not afraid to get dirty to fight back. If she wasn’t a public figure she could be a billionaire suing for defamation of character by a sniveling pack of right wing hate mongers. Lies, oies and more lies.

Politics in America has become a blood sport thanks to fauxknee evangelical kristian haters. Time for the gloves to come off and brass knuckles to go on.

    21
  22. HRC and I are never gonna be friends, with or without benefits, but here’s me HRC logic.

If HRC’s truly a Washington super-criminal, guilty of everything that several generations of snacilbupeR have alleged, why has she never been indicted? After spending years and billion$ are the snacilbupeR attorneys so inept they can’t find even one single, solitary indictable criminal offense?

Or is it that HRC just isn’t a Washington super-criminal after all? Hmmmmmm!

    22
  23. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Tomorrow Pres Obama and VP will probably give serious speeches. However, I’d like to see them team with Sen Franken for a warm-up act roasting Drumpf. Something in a comedy heavy duty gangsta rap to loosen up the convention before they attend to business.

Micr, Hilz is a smart attorney, not the shady type to cut her own throat. If the snacilbupeR don’t like what she does legally like the speaker fees, then they need to change the rules. But they don’t want to do that because they are addicted to their perks. Personally, I have far less of a problem with Hilz bilking a few coins out of Goldman-Sachs than Dubya charging disabled veterans a speaking fee. He caused their injuries; charging them was so wrong.

  24. Sandridge says:

Well, that was just the Monday opener night, and we had a stellar lineup of AAA list prime speakers. Truly accomplished and (mostly) honorable, honest people, one after another.

I kept thinking back exactly one week ago watching the RNC clusterfock and Rethug spox lineup.
Only one of whom was (slightly) memorable, in a very bad way, and that was the lunatic Rudy ‘911’ (Flying F’ing Monkey) Drooliani, off his meds, raving and waving, jerking up and down like he’d just gotten out of his straight-jacket; screeching gibberish, and making $carah Palin seem erudite (poor $carah, absolutely left drifting out in the cold on a rapidly melting ice floe, buhbye babee bwahahaha).

Simply NO comparison between the delusional Party of Ratfockers and the Democrats, in any way, shape, or form. How anybody could favor the Rescummies is beyond me.

And as for Paul effen SIMON, it’s been right about fifty years ago that I (and a gorgeous date WSRU) sat maybe fifteen feet from him and Art Garfield (nobody between us) as they gave a great concert in a small venue. Holeeey smokin’ chit, what a vibe.
Time funs when you’re havin’ flies…

    24
  25. Marlene says:

Micr I have been thinking this for a while now. If the GOP with special prosecutors, FBI, nineteen zillion senate investigations can’t come up with anything criminal she is the smartest woman alive or the charges were bogus. No one can stand that much investigating and something not come up. I used to wish she’d tone it down a bit but then I realized it doesn’t matter what she does or says if she says water is wet they will take her to the wall as a liar. She figured out long ago to just go ahead and do what is needed and the GOP will always take the opposite side. What bothers me is the media pretends the GOP would never object just to object so maybe THIS time there is something to investigate. Anyone else is innocent until proven guilty. Hillary is automatically guilty and the media lets the GOP get away with it yet treats Trump’s lies as if carved in stone and carried down the mountain.

    25
  26. Marcia in CO says:

Sandridge … that would have been Simon & Garfunkle … not Garfield … Garfield is the lasagna eating comic strip cat! LOL However, Art Garfunkle did have some hair that looked like a big fluffy cat was on his head!! So … an easy mistake!! LOL

    26
  27. Sandridge says:

Marcia in CO, you’re so right.
Of course it’s Garfunkel (slaps noggin), should know that, given all their albums I have (shades of “A Hazy Shade of Winter”, must be approaching senility).
I guess watching PBS progs on presidents recently got “Garfield” stuck in the ol’ synapses. And Garfield the cat, got one like that.

    Thatswhatimatalkinabout!

HRC is NOT a Washington super-criminal, in spite of what Donnie the Moocher and the rest of the mooching snacilbupeR would have us believe.

Neither is she clean as new fallen snow.

But she is a brilliant politico who happens to be fairly normal otherwise. She gets my vote in November, 2016. (January 19, 2017 for snacilbupeR trolling here.)
