Just in Case You Missed It…

May 31, 2017 By: El Jefe Category: Holy Crap, Trump

This from the NY Times – Trump’s coat of arms that is plastered all over his golf courses, hotels, and other sleazy properties that carry his name is actually stolen from the family that built Mar-a-Lago in Florida.  The symbol was granted by British authorities in 1939 to Joseph Edward Davies, the third husband of Marjorie Merriweather Post, who built the estate now owned by His Orangeness.  One minor change, though – in place of the banner that says “Integritas” (Latin for integrity), it now says “Trump”.  Now, that is the definition of irony, and marks Trump yet again as the King of Cheesy Fake Crap.

One bit of good news is that the stolen symbol is only used in the US.  Both Scotland and England denied his right to use it in their countries since they regard stealing other families’ heraldry as cheesy, too.

LOL.

Once a thief, always a thief. Thank you England and Scotland for not allowing the orange slime from using the stolen crest. Once again the United States misses the mark. Aren’t theee copyright violations here?

SO, it is not his coat of arms anyway! What a low life replacing Integritas with his name like they would never mean the same! Agree, way to stand on your ethics England and Scotland.

Ironic that he changed “integrity” to “Trump”. I guess the word integrity was disturbing…

  4. On the slime continuum, a co-opted coat of arms amounts to a mere bump. Unless you are related to Joseph Edward Davies, in which case your family pride probably hurts some. Would be ironic if what ultimately kills a Drumpf presidency winds up being a thousand tiny dishonesties like the coat of arms and not the big stuff, like conspiring with Putin.

  5. Anyone else notice the little, tiny hand at the top of the crest?

  6. Ted, thanks for my best laugh of the day.

  7. The crest would be more authentic and truthful if the T was erased.

Paul, as an attorney, you wouldn’t ask a question to which you don’t know the answer. So, TIA for not sharing the answer.

  10. Isn’t Ivanka a “designer?” Can’t she sketch up an original coat – – jacket – – whatever of arms?

  11. If the coat of arms was copyrighted by the originator, Trump would be in deep doodoo, maybe even deeper than the stuff he is currently sinking in.

Cheap, avaricious and too lazy to create his own “crest”!

  12. Ted, BLESS YOU!
FWIW, removing integrity from the crest may be the most honest thing the Trump team has ever done.

So, Integrity is gone, replaced by Trump.

This whole story is awash in symbolism, isn’t it?

  14. Donnie J. has added added a knights helmet. When did he ever put his ass on the kine for the country? Sheeeeeesh!

  15. Coprolite says:

Donnie steals another family’s coat of arms, white surpremists steal the gods and symbolism from the pagens (Norse god Thor and Odin and cover their bodies with tattoos from Norse theology) and Pepe too, while the tea party legislators in congress submit legislation written by Corporations or ALEC.

What do they have in common, they have to purloin other people’s work because none of them have any original ideas of their own.

From Wiki: There is a College of Arms in Great Britain. There is the well-established Law of Arms that includes the Assumption of Arms. Technically, one cannot assume someone else’s arms (heraldry) without the permission of the Crown. (And there is legal precedent here.) Although historically. arms have been purloined quite frequently, what Trump has ripped off at Mar-a-Lago would not be accepted in either England or Scotland and a number of Commonwealth countries.
