Happy, No Wait, Confused Days Are Here Again

November 23, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

A new Quinnipiac poll finds American voters say by a 59% to 37% margin that they are “optimistic about the next four years with Donald Trump as President.

That said, by a 52% to 42% they say he is not honest and by 57% to 38% say he is not level-headed.

So … he’s crazy as a loon and you can’t trust him worth diddle squat but, by Gawd, I feel great about this!

President-elect Donald Trump should shut down his personal Twitter account, American voters say 59 – 35 percent.

Well, it’s a start.

(If I don’t see you tomorrow, have a Happy Thanksgiving!)

  1. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I haven’t been here in a while but this is the only place I feel the sane, that I’m not alone in this upside down world! Watching Ms. Rachel Maddow, who has kept me from going bonkers…Peace and love and harmony!

  2. Maybe “feeling great about this” has something to do with the increasing legal supply of weed. That or mass insanity. Remember the pods in Invasion of the Body Snatchers?

I strongly recommend that all y’all [second person plural emphatic] read Barbara Kingsolver’s essay in the Guardian:

“We refuse to disappear. We keep our commitments to fairness in front of the legislators who oppose us, lock arms with the ones who are with us, and in the words of Congressman John Lewis, prepare to get ourselves in some good trouble…. There’s safety in numbers, but only if we count ourselves out loud.”

  3. And I recommend the Guardian as a regular source of news. It’s British, but they have a US edition with lots of good lefty stuff, and for now it’s still free online, though if you like it they’d appreciate a donation or US membership for a few bucks.

It’s the end of the world as we know it!
It’s the end of the world as we know it – and I feel fine…”

  5. Wait, what?
Do the same 59% who feel great also think he should stay off Twitter? Would they feel even MORE optimistic if he did that?

Maybe, if he could pry his phone out of Kellyann’s hands and tweet as much as he really wanted to, those folks might wake up?

It’s worth a shot, anyway. Hey Donald! Get busy! Preferably at 3 AM. There’s a good boy.

Cue the music from the opening credits of Blast from the Past.

    5
  6. Don’t believe it. If only white men were polled, maybe 59% of them think this way. The country– no way.

You might remove his phone and his Twitter account but that would not rid the airwaves of his ugly, orange, raccoon-eyed mug … the only way to keep from seeing the SOB-elect is to shut off all devices that might feel it necessary to air his every word, fart and nose snuffle!!

    7
  8. Marcia, have already done as you recommended. Despite everything, I insist on remaining sane. As we all have come to know, you believe in polls only at your own peril. Discovered yesterday that Jill Stein has raised the money for a recount!!! All things considered, I was fairly sure that someone would have to do it and believe me, I was sincerely surprised that it was Jill! Who the heck knows? The recount just might change everything, and despite being short by one, SCOTUS would have to take a look and check if the math is right. Well, fine. Just so long as I don’t have to check the addition. Too many fights that break out over math equations and from “experts” no one has ever heard of which means the fracas drags on and on and on. Ten to one math people also play bridge which as I have witnessed is an excellent way to learn martial arts. Hell, even poker isn’t as much of a contact sport as bridge is!

  9. Captain Dan says:

There are different reasons for being optimistic.
I am optimistic that the next four years will destroy the Republican Party completely!

    9
  10. The details of the Quinnipiac survey reveal that participants really did not have positive expectations of Trump across a variety of expectations. One category that scored very strongly was the expectation of job creation.

Participants expected that Trump would create jobs by a 66-28 margin. Perhaps this is the underlying reason for the optimism. Delusional but at least a reason.

Mel- here is what those optimistic morons voted against. Obama created 15.5 million jobs in the past 80 months. That is mere months after dumbass dubya’s economy was hemorraging hundreds of thousands of jobs per month.

Those lost manufacturing jobs aren’t coming back and we will lose even more under dumbass drumpf’s commie regime.

OT- Jim Wright at Stonekettle Station was given a 24 hour ban on FaceBook for going full Nazi on full Nazi supporters of dumbass drumpf. I didn’t copy and paste the link because of stellar salty langwidge he tends to use. You can find it by clicking Immoral Minority link above and scrolling down left side of that site. Good read as always.

One more thing- Obama’s job growth was private sector jobs, not gubmint jobs like Bush. Obama and Dems SHRINK the size of the federal gubmint. Wingnuts just lie about it.

  13. JAKvirginia says:

Well… this will not be popular to you folks…

Like so many here, I was devastated by the election results. After a few weeks of sadness and dismay I had a revelation: Trump is in this for himself. Yes, I know you’ve heard and agree with that sentiment. But, have you really considered the implications?

In a recent NYT interview, a whopper was revealed — Trump wants (needs?) to be liked… by everybody. He wants to make it into the history books as America’s Most Popular Prez. You don’t get there by rehashing social issues (Roe v. Wade, Obergefell, etc.) or aligning yourself with contentious proposals (forget that damn wall, he’s not deporting anyone) regardless of who’s he’s selected as his cabinet. He’s chosen shills, people who will do his bidding. And if their actions don’t enhance his popularity, they will be fired. Plain and simple.

No one can chart exactly what and how he will do anything. But if you embrace the Zen of Trump, if you can imagine yourself in that guise, wouldn’t you make the populist decisions as well? Yes… you would.

He has already backed away from some of the most negative talking points in his campaign (Lock her up!) and he will continue doing that on his way to the coveted title of Mr. Congeniality. Oh… it will be a mixed bag I’m sure, but not much to lose our cool over. Not yet at least. We need to be a loud, vocal opposition when it matters… but we can make it through these next four years without running scared.

In a nutshell, he’s out for himself. He’s out for his business empire. He’ll serve one term. Then it’s back to the Tower, and the parties, and TrumpWorld. And America? Well, maybe we will have learned a thing or two. But I won’t bet on it.

OH! And Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your families. Hugs and smiles.

  15. I am optimistic that we will survive the next four years. How this will come about is anyone’s guess.
This is American exceptionalism, we survive our mistakes. The race-baiting deadbeat got there by simple speach, pandering to the bases fears of a left behind working class. No nuisance, no policy, and nothing intellectual or coplicated. Build a 26′ high wall and someone
will build a28′ ladder that Immigrants will pay for.

  16. e platypus onion says:

Rumours abound. Palin is getting her cabinet position. Under the secretary of the dimly lit interior. No experience preferred, just kneepads.

dumbass drumpf’s idea of how the left media should cover him is not to publish any of his mistakes. Have the boss call drumpf and talk about his mistakes. To think I had the purpose of the media as watchdogs all wrong.

    16
  17. ,That Other Jean says:

JAK, I do agree with you. Donald of Orange (he might as well be a king) desperately wants to be liked, so it’s important to protest loud and long when he does something stupid/harmful, which is where his instincts seem to lie, since he knows nothing about government. I don’t think Obama had planned to nursemaid his successor through the next four years, but if he’s willing to take one for democracy, we should all be grateful.

It’s Trump’s advisors and the people he’s choosing to appoint to his cabinet that scare me. They’re smarter than he is, and all of them have nasty agendas. By the time Trump realizes that he’s not popular because of them, they will have done a lot of harm.

Then there are Trump’s fervent supporters, all of whom think he’s going to benefit them, preferably at someone else’s expense. He’s kinda, sorta, disavowed the Neo-Nazis, however much he relied on them to get elected. He has yet to turn on the racists, who also helped to get him into office. And the working class folks who voted for him because he promised to bring their jobs back? What are they going to do when he fails to deliver? The prospect scares me. And I haven’t even mentioned foreign policy. . .

    17
  18. e platypus onion says:

Racists will be ecstatic to get rid of the black Attorneys General that prevented dumbass dubya from prosecuting them 2 mean NBP in Philadelphia that no one complained about. Now white cops can murder unarmed blacks with impunity. Look for Zimmerman to be appointed Drumpf’s Latin liaison to the Black Community.

  20. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Over 50 days out until Inauguration and already Donnie II and Ivanka are thigh deep in ethnics violations. Meanwhile BLOTUS is already skipping intelligence briefings. Sort of explains why Donnie wanted Jared and the kids to have security clearances; he needs someone to explain things to him.

Yeah, I’m feeling real secure holding on to a ray of hope with the Electoral College and maybe Jill Stein’s initiative to count the votes. Hope springs eternal among optimists. 😉

Hey now, I said optimist, not crazy. Not expecting much from Congress to combat the insanity of BLOTUS.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone at The World’s Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.!

  21. You’re right JAK. He wants everyone to like him. EVERY ONE. He wants a 100% approva rating.

I’ve noticed that when he complains about the media or anyone else, he frequently says, “They weren’t nice to me.” ‘Nice.’ Who says that? Obama? GWB? Clinton? Anybody? No. Because for the Cheetoh-faced Ferret-wearing Shitgibbon Cocksplat it’s about being liked and looking good, more than accuracy, facts, political value, etc.

I remember reading a novel that included a character who was a very insecure man. Everything and everyone came in second to acquisitions. Although he was very successful financially, his behavior didn’t change. He was asked, “How much do you want? When will you know it’s time to stop?” He had no answer because there would never be enough.

For most individuals that brings sympathy. Not for the cruel Cheetoh-faced Ferret-wearing Shitgibbon Cocksplat.
