Fun With Guns: High Pressure Salesmanship

In Good Ole Pennsylvania.  Sometimes you gotta wonder where the good guy with a gun is in situations like these.

BLOOMSBURG — A woman was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg after police say a vendor at the Eagle Arms Gun Show at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds accidentally shot her on Saturday.

Police in Columbia County said vendor Geoffrey Hawk, the owner of “In Case of Emergency,” shot Krysta Gearhart of Orangeville in the thigh with a semi-automatic .380 while demonstrating a concealed carry holster. Usually, the demonstration is done with a plastic model of a gun.

The police were happy to say there was not a magazine attached to the weapon but there was a round in the chamber.

Icing on the Cake?  The name of the vendor is “In Case of Emergency.”

I’m not making that up.

Thanks to pk and Carl for the heads up.

You think maybe that lady will skip the next gun show?

Hope the owner of In Case of Emergency is well insured. One by one the gun industry is killing (sometimes literally, sometimes figurately) off it’s customer base. Do you think Krysta will be back for another demonstration?
Only if terminally stupid, which unfortunately could be the case.

  3. I assume he was demonstrating what not to do.

Lesson learned (for her, anyway–probably not for him).

  4. Rule 1: The Gun Is Always Freakin’ Loaded.

Why is this so hard to grasp?

At least there were right handy to one of the best darn hospitals in the state — it’s also got a trauma center so it’s one of the places that people get airlifted to when they’re involved in a serious accident. But I’m still confused by the part where they usually demonstrate using a plastic model of a gun — does that mean that they recognize that it’s unsafe to use the real thing?

    Pardon my typo…figuratively.
Just heard on the news that Krysta doesn’t blame the guy who shot her. She thinks it was an “honest mistake”. Hope somebody talks some sense into her right quick.

  7. Closer to home: There was a man killed in Austin in the parking lot of a gun show venue.
“Cedar Park police believe there was no criminal intent involved in the shooting death of a 59-year-old Jarrell man outside of the Austin Gun Show on Saturday.

Police identified the victim as John Glover Warden. Warden was pronounced dead at St. David’s Round Rock Hospital Saturday after he was shot in a vehicle outside of the gun show at Cedar Park Center, police said.

Warden’s son-in-law Jared Charles Priddy, a Euless resident, was handling a firearm that he had just reloaded when the gun fired, police said.”

Wonder how long the marriage will last. It’s not nice to kill your wife’s father.

  8. The victim may be dealing privately with the shooter for recompense. I hope she makes the idiot go to his knees and beg to keep his business, his home, his retirement account and whatever else he values most, like his **lls!

Jan — You’re right. I doubt that the wife is real pleased, but she did marry the idiot in the first place. At least he admitted the gun was loaded, and God knows that’s unusual.
