  1. RepubAnon says:

If President Obama’s proposed actions to prevent criminals from purchasing or possessing firearms make you think that he’s trying to seize your guns – haven’t you just admitted that you’re a criminal?

  2. e platypus onion says:

The 2nd Amendment means you can’t incriminate yourself and if you disagree, they will shoot you.

  3. e platypus onion says:

Need I remind everyone that the lunatic nutcase in North Korea procured his weapons because one dumbass dubya and crew refused to engage in diplomacy with said lunatic nutcase.

Iran does not yet have nukular weapons and may not obtain them because the Black guy in the White House chose to engage in diplomacy with our allies and Iran.

  4. Annnnnd the lesser of two evils is still evil.

Sad to see a whole bunch of folks still not getting it.

PDiddie, one of the problems with memes like “the lesser of two evils is still evil” is that it fosters a temptation to go looking for that imaginary perfect candidate. It’s like a corollary to the “both sides do it” meme.

For instance, in mathematical terms, WJC had a blowjob, while Hastert, Gingrich and whoever were doing whatever. Both sides? To that I call a simple, “biotch, please…..”

    6
  6. Instead of calling them armed militia they should be called terrorists or at the very least armed criminals.

    7
  7. So PDiddie , you advise not voting at all because you haven’t got the perfect candidate?
So , that means you’re prepared to let the most evil win?
Oh and remember, if you don’t vote you have no moral right to complain about the outcome.

  8. The thing is, PDiddie, is that there is going to be an election no matter what. My beloved, sadly now departed, mother-in-law understood this. She was born before women nationally had the right to vote. MIL was a good Baptist in the best senses of that term. She was a good woman through and through. (I was damned lucky to have her as my MIL.) When Edwin Edwards and David Duke were vying for governor of Louisiana the hubs asked her how she was going to vote, She replied “I’m going to hold my nose and vote.” Wise advice from a wise woman. I can assure you she did not vote for Duke.

Was Edwin Edwards a scoundrel? Hell yes. Did he play fast and loose with the rules? Hell yes. But, he actually did good for the poor of the state at the same time he was padding his and his cronies pockets. David Duke would have shafted the poor and blacks of the state. The MIL understood that and made the compromise.

My candidate of choice may not be chosen by the party but I will vote anyway. This election is just to damned important to sit out in a fit of temper.

  9. I had a friend who voted for Ralph Nader as her “protest” vote. Nobody bitched and moaned more than she did during the next presidency. I had no sympathy for her whatsoever.

    10
  10. I thought the cartoon said it: the lesser of two evils is better than the worse of two evils… given that we’re all GOING to get one of those two.

I have no patience with people who don’t vote because “they’re all the same.” Granted, they’re often too close to being the same, but anybody who thinks there’s no difference is too lazy to pay attention.

For one shining example, spend a few moments with the League of Conservation Voters’ scorecards at http://scorecard.lcv.org

Nearly all the Democrats score above 85%, and nearly all the Republicans score below 8%. There are only a handful in the middle. If you like clean air and water and don’t want billions in taxpayer money going to oil, gas, and coal companies, I suggest you vote D. And it does matter.

    11
  11. That Other Jean says:

@AKLynne: Yeah, both my gen-X children did the same. They failed to understand that a protest vote generally means “helping the worse candidate win.”

    12
  12. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Rhea, thanks for the link, it’s a keeper/bookmark. Gotta love Alma Adams! She scored 100% and is from NC.

I appreciate President Obama for his efforts to build a Democratic coalition with Sec Clinton, Sec Kerry and VP Biden. But of all his appointments, my favorite was his sending blue dog Max Baucus to China to breath in the foul air that he would have us breathing given the chance. Baucus wasn’t the “only one,” but much of what is insufficient in the ACA I link to Baucus.

    13
  13. Oh, I’m voting. I’m just voting for the greater good and neither of the two evils.

And for those of us in non-swing states — which for those of you slow on the uptake, isn’t going to includeTexas — it’s a clean conscience, principled vote for the woman on the ballot who’s actually a progressive.

So leave that “Supreme Court” argument in the trash, where you found it.

    14
  14. My favorite was the Alternative Headlines cartoon. Exactly.

I think it was someone here who referred to those jokers as “annoyists”. That gives them about as much gravitas as they deserve.
