Call Me a Trump Supporter and I’ll Sue Your Butt

October 25, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

This is what it’s come to.

Five Republicans running for re-election are threatening to sue teevee stations for running ads from the DCCC saying they support Trump.

Reps. Bob Dold (R-Ill.), Mike Coffman (R-Colo.), David Jolly (R-Fla.), John Katko (R-N.Y.) and Brian Fitzpatrick, all say that tying them to Trump is the worst thing you can say about them and that it is not true they are tied to Trump because … well, they say they aren’t now.

Okay, here’s what I am wondering: did they speak out during Trump’s Birther movement?  If not, they supported him by being quiet and reaping the rightwing benefits. Did they speak out when Trump made fun of a disabled reporter?  No? Hummmm, cowards? Did they speak out when Trump bashed people from Mexico? Really? That wasn’t offensive to them?  Oh Honey, I could go on and on.

You can’t eat the yummy and delicious pie without gaining the calories.  But, that’s exactly what they are trying to do.

It’s too late to disassociate yourself from the weeds you carefully planted, Boys.

Thanks to SG for the heads up.

  1. This is why, when some relatives question me, I now vote straight ticket. Some of my “high minded” relations claim, condescendingly, they vote for the person, not the party. There was a time when that was a valid exercise, but now…. When you align yourself with the Republican party, you, by simple association, identify with their politics. I left the Republicans long ago, and don’t see any change in my attitude in the foreseeable future.

  2. Hi Juanita Jean! Been awhile since I’ve been to your Salon & offered my 2 cents. Missed you & your followers.

Couldn’t resist telling you how bigly much I enjoyed your post today. Loved your pie & calories allegory cause I so can identify with that one (pie more than weeds)!

Weren’t Democrats going to focus on turning Texas BLUE? What happened? I gave up hope watching Cruz make it to the Final Four & get beat out by #DraftDodgerDonald. So I’ll be reading your past posts to figure that conundrum out.

I haven’t posted on my Moms Hugs for a long time – actually since falling off back steps onto my stone patio – head first. I’ll get on it after catching up.

Meanwhile, I am going to watch Mr. Moore’s latest documentary film of himself as a comedien in Ohio, the GOP heartland, which he calls “Trumpland” in the title. Lawrence O’Donnell interviewed Mr. Moore on The Last Word with some snippets. Looks good!

Hope you all at the Salon are doing well. ~ Moms w/Bigly Hugs

  3. Those who helped make the Trump sh!t stew will have to eat it.

  4. If these lawsuits ever actually get filed I’ll bet the defense cross examination will be epic.

No competent lawyer for the plaintiffs would ever let that happen without spelling it out for their client first (do you really want to do this?) so my guess is the lawsuits are pure bluff.

  5. Wyatt Earl says:

So you don’t want it known you supported Trump? Here’s a thought: threaten to file a law suit, generating more publicity that you once supported Donald Trump.

  6. By threatening litigation, these hypocrites are modeling Trump behavior exactly. When you can’t counter the harmful allegations with demonstrable facts, sue.

  7. In AZ. We have the old back tracker John McSame. Won’t do his job but wants the pay check.

  8. WA Skeptic says:

And I see where some shameless Rethuglicans are now claiming to “back the POTUS”.

Yeah, we noticed how you all backed the President for the last eight years.

    Pack sand, you a&&es.

  9. Polite Kool Marxist says:

ok. So somehow these graspers of the illogical think that there’s a material difference between grasping and groping. “You quoted me! That’s slander.” Good luck with that in court.

“We’ll vote for him. We just don’t endorse him.” SMDH

  10. I wonder if Trump will sue *them* for backing out of his corner?

  11. That Other Jean says:

Sorry, fellas. You made it, it’s yours. A pox on all your houses, individually and collectively.

  12. e platypus onion says:

American Bar Association did a study about Drumpf suing everyone. The story goes they won’t publish it for fear of being sued by Drumpf. Too bad. Where would the ABA find any lawyers to defend themselves?

Meanwhile the Kochs quietly tiptoe around brainwashing the USA and selling essentials like toilet paper and senators.

    14
  15. Yeah, it goes something like this: if you were part of the problem you certainly weren’t part of the solution. No go sit in the corner, boys, and suck your thumbs.

    15
  16. Tweet them all and ask why they support Trump.

    16
  17. JAKvirginia says:

Okay, boys. Let me legal-splain it to you.

    1. These are political ads. They don’t fall into the same category as other broadcast pieces. Usually considered “opinion” and that’s 1st Amendment territory.

    2. These are paid ads. The stations are not responsible for their content.

    3. Trump is the head of your party’s ticket. To disown him now is a bit of a stretch.

I’ll believe you’re sincere when you file in a court of law. Until then… bite me!

    17
  18. Here in Colorado, the ads tying Coffman to Trump are on each commercial break. One of them shows Coffman being asked if Obama was born here and he says in a very profound tone, ‘ I don’t know where he was born, but I do know in his heart he’s just not American’. Now he’s running away from that birther nonsense and it’s coming back to bite him. How is he going to sue? His own ad has one woman saying, ‘Mike Coffman is a good guy. He’s not like other Republicans.’ Really?!? How is that supposed to be a good thing when you cant even acknowledge your own party, let alone its nominee?

    18
  19. dbtexas @ #1, I agree with the straight ticket vote, but I wish I didn’t have to, because we ought to have diversity in both parties. But it’s like someone said about “nice Nazis”– it stinks from the head all the way down. Any elected GOP, even if sane, is going to be pressured to fall in line by other GOPS who aren’t.

    19
  20. AliceBeth says:

Well, since there is no GOP leadership, this idiot got to be their candidate and they are stuck with the taint of him. Too bad, so sad……

  21. Sandridge says:

    Rastybob,
More than a “paycheck”, McLame craves the fame of being a US Senator. That, and having useful connections for his mobbed-up in-laws…

  22. Per Allen above:

“If these lawsuits ever actually get filed I’ll bet the defense cross examination will be epic.

No competent lawyer for the plaintiffs would ever let that happen without spelling it out for their client first (do you really want to do this?) so my guess is the lawsuits are pure bluff.”

apparently, even the ABA (American Bar Association) isn’t willing to call a bluff:

    http://www.talkleft.com/

they won’t release this report, for fear of a Trump lawsuit, so I wouldn’t be too harsh on someone with a lot fewer resources behind them.

    22
  23. Larry from Colorado says:

Here in Colorado Coffman was in the birther movement from the start. In fact, the ad says T-rump copied it from Coffman.

    23
  24. So, it would be more appropriate to call these guys former Trump supporters who chickened out when the going got rough and they were afraid that being supporters would hurt them politically.

    Got it.

    24
  25. JAKvirginia says:

LynnN: How wonderfully succinct and cogent. You do, in fact, got it. Thank you.

  26. Sign on the door one sees as one enters the snacilbupeR china shop:
“Lovely to look at, Lovely to hold,
But if you break it, consider it Sold.”

Brothers Koch, Rinse Pre-bus, John Boner, Gnute Ghingrich, Grover “Drown ’em in the tub” Norquist, and on and on. Your ranting and raving and pointing of crooked little (tiny) fingers conceived and birthed and grew this Frankenstein of a candidate. You “own” him and all the damage he has and will cause. You and your party will be held to strict liability. Think Vosburg v. Putney, 80 Wis. 523, 50 N.W. 403 (Wisc.1891).
YOU are responsible for the harm you cause.

    27
  28. snacilbupeR Rep. Eric Paulsen wouldn’t disavow the Mangled Apricot Hellbeast so his opponent, Terri Bonoff, and the DCCC have been running ads highlighting him and the MAH. Just a week ago little Eric finally cut ties. The RNCC has been running ads calling Terri a liar and meany.

Terri is a cute little granny with round glasses and she’s running a really cute ad explaining that she’s being nice now. With a smile on her round face, looking positively impish, she wonders why it took Paulsen so long to figure out what an a $$hole the MAH is. It’s really good, and makes Paulsen look petulant and whiny. You know, like the Mangled Apricot Hellbeast.

Hahahahahahahahaha! She’s got Paulsen by the short hairs. I think MN is going to flip 2 Congressional seats from snacilbupeR to Democratic women. Bwahahaha!!!

  29. Old Quaker says:

Coffman flip flops and backtracks so fast he steps on his own toes. I have voted and hand delivered the envelope to an offical ballot box. I voted for Morgan Carroll, not our duplitious congressman, Coffman. Saying Obama in his heart isn’t an American was the final straw for me. Viscious remark, shameful.

  30. Northern VA has a congresscritterwoman who has jilted Trump but kept the Trumpian program for herself. A lot of help she is! Strong TV ads running daily against her. She might not make it this time around.
