Fun With Guns: Canned Goods and Fanny Pack Edition

A Minnesota man shot himself in the leg at Rainbow Foods.

Police are not sure how the gun discharged. There is no indication that this is anything other than an accident.

No one else was injured.

Police say the man has a conceal and carry permit.

I might can help with this.  The gun discharged when the trigger was pulled.

And in Pittsburg, a man’s gun fell out of his open fanny pack (seriously) at the Giant Eagle grocery store and injured two elderly shoppers.

TribLIVE reported that when officers arrived, Good immediately told them that it was his gun that fell out of a fanny pack and accidentally went off.

The gun is registered to Good, who has a permit to carry the weapon.

Guns don’t kill people – people with concealed carry permits kill people.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

Awww, the Huckster is back in rare form.

huckabee-220x220Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) returned to one of his favorite themes at a televangelist’s conference earlier this month — the power of public school prayer to eradicate school shootings.

In video surfaced by Right Wing Watch on Monday, Huckabee said that in his day, people prayed in public schools left and right, the ex-governor told an audience at TV preacher Morris Cerullo’s annual gathering.

Okay, but then how do you explain deadly shootings in churches?  Talking about gun violence in church —

Last year, there were 115 attacks, with 75 of those ending in a fatality, he said.

I kinda suspect there’s some Bibles and praying there.

I dunno, maybe bread bags over your shoes stops school shootings?  I hear that’s a popular theory lately.

Thanks to Carl for the heads up.

Gettin’ Koched Up

America: a wholly owned subsidiary of Koch Industries.

Robber barons David and Charles Koch want to buy America.  They are offering a billion dollar down payment.  For them, a billion dollars is pocket change.

MoneyInPoliticsFlexing its financial might, the political machine backed by billionaires Charles and David Koch on Monday told its allies that spending across its conservative network would approach $1 billion ahead of 2016’s elections.

The stunning sum from Freedom Partners would dwarf expected spending from official GOP committees and many of the hopefuls expected to seek the party’s presidential nomination in 2016. The $889 million budget is almost twice what 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney spent from his campaign accounts.

Kinda makes you wonder who they are afraid of, right?

I’d also like to add that if Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, or any other clown car occupant is the nominee, no amount of money in the world will make them any damn smarter.

Thanks to Claudia for the heads up.

Rick Perry speaking at the Republican Jewish Coalition in Iowa.

Oh, really?

It’s not clear what Perry is basing this comment on. As Danny Vinik at The New Republic points out, the national unemployment rate fell from 8.3 percent to 7.8 percent in 2012 and then rose again and then fell again from 8 percent to 7.2 percent in 2013. It would be a bizarre move for the White House to raise the unemployment rate and then lower it again.

But in Perryville, nothing is bizarre.

Thanks to Deb for the heads up.
