Karma in Real Life

June 09, 2022 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Those you who have been around here for ten years or so know that I had myself a charming little hair pulling spitting match with a neighbor of mine.  Yeah, a neighbor. We literally live in the same county commissioner precinct together.  Her name is Cathy Engelbrecht.

She’s a real stinker.

Back then, she used to go around my county preaching to low information voters, and old people over at the Lutheran church, about how Democrats were stealing elections. She asked them for money to fund her little “research.” That was cute to me because I was also doing research and I didn’t ask anybody for money. True, I got a local newspaper to pay me to do it. But local newspapers ain’t a well-spring of money and she lived in a fancier house than I did and drove a much fancier car.

Oh Lord, I can feel a story coming on and I do rattle, but stick with me if you have the time because it’s kinda a good story and I don’t do this but maybe two or three times a year. Okay, may six. I carry on maybe six, or it could be 7 times a year.

So, here’s Cathy giving all these “trainings” around the county. I go to one and she doesn’t recognize me because she doesn’t read newspapers.  Afterwards, I stick around to ask her about some of the math in one of her presentation slides because the percentages added up to 114%. She said I didn’t understand it. I pulled a pocket calculator out of my purse and added it right up as we stood there. She blamed “an aide” for the mistake. I giggled because she ain’t got no damn aide.

Anyway, I wrote about it in the newspaper along with some other mistakes she made. She did not take my constructive criticism well. She called my boss and said she would never interview with our newspaper again. My boss said she was delighted to hear that, and would she please put it in writing because we have a Wall of Jackasses in the reception office of people who won’t speak to us but they can’t complain about it because … you know … they ain’t speaking to us.

It was at that point that the gods of good intentions knew we needed some help with this woman. My boss gets an anonymous call that a Republican candidate for county commissioner in our county was bragging to the Republican party chairman how he voted twice the past three elections. Bragging. I love bragging. Especially from men. And double especially if it’s the candidate for county commissioner in the same precinct as me and Cathy Engelbrecht.

Boss and I knew this guy was from Pennsylvania. At the time, getting official voting records from Pennsylvania is harder than Chinese algebra. So, because I have happy ties to the Democratic Party, I called the Democratic Party office in Pennsylvania, shared a couple of Democratic passwords with the nice lady who answered the phone and within 15 minutes we had this guy’s voting record.

Sure ’nuff, both he and his wife were voting twice.  In Texas that was a third degree felony. I’m sure Pennsylvania has laws against it, too.

Of course this was followed by lengthy lame excuses from the Republican District Attorney on why he wouldn’t prosecute. Here’s one of the last times I wrote about it. Boss put it on the front page of the newspaper.

Which, finally!, brings us to today. Hi, Cathy! Been missing you, Girlfriend.

One of former President Donald Trump’s favorite election conspiracists promised to find evidence of fraud, but instead diverted more than $1 million in donations to herself, her longtime partner, and an attorney.

Ah, she’s still grifting.

Think I ought to send her a “Been Missing You” card?

  1. Maybe they could put people in the stocks for a couple of days so that smart folks could just ridicule them.

ROFL Ms. JJ not only should you send Crazy Cathy McGrifty the “missing you” card accompany it with a bouquet of flowers if she has known allergies. No known allergies? Ragweed is always a good choice. Include a personal note with all of her indictable offenses. Hell. You know people. Throw in an actual indictment.

Maybe even send an original song – “She’s Got Michele Bachmann Eyes.” Borrow from Kim Carnes to complete your lyrics.

Maybe you should contact the IRS tip line; I’m betting she didn’t report those “donations” as income and if they get anything from her, you get rewarded. I think that would be the cherry on top!

Well, at least you know why she drives a nicer car than you do. I do like Grandma Ada suggestion, though.

I wonder if a complaint to the state about voter fraud would draw any reaction? Maybe not because GQP comrade, but you never know and the failure to do act on proven voter fraud would sure draw blood somewhere…

I really like Grandma’s idea about notifying the IRS regarding all this, but it’s more than just an “income” issue. But I also have to wonder what the exposure is if her “organization” is listed as a non-profit/charity.

  7. Sounds like the kind of woman who runs 50 feet down the bowling alley, throws the ball and still has to kick down 2 or 3 pins for a strike. Then brags about her score the next day at the blond salon.

Digging around this TTV grift machine is ‘interesting’…
Using the Bing search engine [I never Goog], TTV is even signed up with Bing/Microsoft to get ‘donations earned’ using their services…
    https://www.bing.com/search?q=True+the+Vote&form=OSASSB&pc=OSAS

TTV’s 2020 [latest found] IRS 990 Non-Profit Entity tax return [34pps] is a treasure trove [stretching my 2 semester accounting skills], give it a read:
    https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21562821-ttv-990-for-2020-amended

Ms. Cathy E is the only paid official or employee, the other ~12 are volunteers [990, p.7].
She gets $197,000/yr, plus various expenses [I expect her compensation with shoot up in subsequent years as TTV is getting huge donor revenue increases now].

TTV’s revenues increased greatly in 2020, from $767,498 in 2019 to $5,035,229. A significant amount of that came from one or more large donors [990, p.14].
Expenses lean heavily to legal and IT. There is a pending previous IRS settlement in which they sued the IRS and won $573,042, which ultimately goes to the law firm.

2020 brought a large asset/rollover increase for them, as revenues were way up; a big payoff for hyping “The Big Lie” election scam.
The last four pages of the 990 have some interesting verbiage.

While appearing to be a non-partisan organization, TTV really ramped up their GQP/Trumpian activities beginning in 2020, and is a major nationwide ‘Big Lie” player and purveyor.
TTV is now hyping the ‘2000 Mules’ movie
[big splash on the homepage https://www.truethevote.org/%5D,
Dinesh D’Souza’s epic [coughcoughhack] 2020 election heist saga.

TTV has been active in many aspects of the attempted 2020 election hijack, and probably the Jan 6 attempted coup d’etat; this is an organization that the House Jan 6 Committee should be looking at too.

TTV, with it’s growing revenue, will undoubtedly be a big player, saboteur, in the upcoming 2022, 2024 elections.
Do the Democrats have any counterattack plans and personnel at the ready for the coming onslaught ??

If you Google Catherine Engelbrecht, there’s been a lot of coverage about her in the last couple days. She ought to be radioactive by now and a prime candidate for a major media investigation as well as the IRS checking her out for big-time tax evasion.

Ah, Juanita, here’s a gal who’s aspired to a level of fame that you’ve never coveted – only it’s not going to turn out the way she would want or expect.

    Juanita Jean Herownself —
I am pretty certain the Texas prosecutors are too busy ducking questions about other matters and you don’t seem to have a path for official action. So I wonder — could you deputize people working at other, less dangerous, salons and ask them to enforce a bit of justice? I’m not certain what sort of procedure might be sufficient to incapacitate Ms. Engelbrecht — but she certainly deserves SOME consequence for her actions.
