That last cartoon reminds me of a throwaway line from a Heinlein novel, where one of the characters got into a car with stickers saying:
    Body by Fisher
    Armament by Skoda.

  2. The Surly Professor says:

Thirty years ago in the early days of the Web, I wrote a “Modest Proposal” type screed. Basically I took the gun nuts’ position, arguing in steps that the Sacred Second Amendment guaranteed Real Americans (TM) the right to fully automatic weapons, artillery, claymore mines, chemical and biological weapons, and if you can afford them, nukes. After all, the purpose of the SSA was to defend against a dictatorial government telling us what to do, and you can’t fight against tanks and crew-served machine guns with a .22 varmint rifle.

Well, what was obviously over-the-top satire in 1993 has now become serious stuff. A former student of mine has warned me that it’s being passed around on Discord and other Q-nut venues. And yes, the thing really went as far as saying everyone’s nutty uncle who collects Nazi memorabilia should be able to collect 20 megaton thermonuclear bombs.

Sorry folks. I’m just glad I “signed” it as Professor Profundissimus instead of using my real name.

All exceptionally great and right on. Especially like the tears for trumpf indictment and his delusional perception, and the supreme thomas and Ginni toons.

@Surly #2 – I am reminded of an episode of All in the Family I remember watching when it first aired. Archie Bunker made a similar argument.

The Surly Professor @2, Way back I too took similar positions, but I was skilled in the craft [weapons, explosives…]. Always wanted my own DD, or at least a DE, certainly could win every regatta with one of them puppies..

And all this discussion of ‘assault weapons’ I find a bit absurd, the ARs/AKs, etc.
I had a Remington .223cal semi-auto varmint rifle back in the 1960s, which can do almost anything that the current ones can do [.223=5.56x45mmNATO+-], and my 30-06s, .44s, etc., pack even more wallop.
It only has a scope mount, not all the other rails/mounts of the current weapons, a minor difference, imo; and doesn’t look as ‘kool’ to some [ammosexual fools].

  6. Since I have to choose, its the last one. Number six is why I won’t go back to teaching no matter how much I need a job.

    AWS.
I don’t really reckon it’ll be of much use when the gub’mint tanks start rollin’ in!
