Alex Jones

Well, there’s an update on the Alex Jones case our Mark filed against Alex Jones on behalf of some of the Sandy Hook parents.

About three weeks ago, there was a hearing in Austin over the fact that Alex Jones has screwed around on this case and has refused to comply with court orders or produce items required under the rules of discovery.  Jones is on his seventh lawyer. He waits until the night before hearings, replaces his lawyer, and then wants to reset the clock.  He’s been repeatedly fined and chastised by the court.

Nothing seems to work. The first judge on the case retired and a newly elected district court judge, The Honorable Maya Guerra Gamble, put the hammer down.  It’s called “the death penalty” in civil cases and is extremely rare.

Oddly enough, Jones’ lawyer promised in the hearing that he would file answers to the pending discovery issues in two weeks.  He didn’t do it.

In the filings, Gamble eviscerated Jones and reasoned that default judgments should be ordered because “an escalating series of judicial admonishments, monetary penalties, and non-dispositive sanctions have all been ineffective at deterring the abuse,” caused by Jones’ unwillingness to turn over documents related to the cases, the Texas judge ruled.

One of Mark’s partners, Bill Ogden, is handling press inquiries because Mark is in North Carolina taping a pilot for A&E.  Bill is a young lawyer, smart as the dickens, and, the ladies might want to know, he’s also mighty easy on the eyes.

Next, they will seat a jury and let them decide a proper punishment for Jones.

Here’s a story about the original hearing.

Here is a PDF of the judge’s order.

Also, she ordered Jones to pay Mark’s legal fees.

  1. I expect Alex Jones will appeal on the well-known Constitutional principle of Republicans not being subject to any orders not issuing from Trumpski.

  2. Taping for A&E. Cool stuff. Congratulations to Mark and his proud Mama!

Texas should import one of our NV judges. Except for the conservative putz that slanted the Bundy trial, the judges here do not take kindly to being ignored. They can drop a gavel on fines and contempt of court faster than any gunslinger in the wild west.

There is some justice in Texas. This is such good news. Now let’s see how much this will cost him. Too bad they can’t lock him up, too.

  4. If we’re lucky, the jury’s decision may be similar to that of the Paul Newman film, The Verdict (spoiler, conclusion of movie):

  5. Really happy about this!! Finally. I don’t suppose Mark or his team will see a penny, but it’s a victory nonetheless. You deserve to be a proud Mama!!

  6. Jones got off easy. Had slipstream been on the bench, Jones would find his sorry ass locked up in solitary until the documents were produced. And then read. Very slowly.

A pilot for A&E….we all want details!

I’m sorry about the fees – I’m sure that means Mark’ll never be paid, but he WILL gain stars in his crown for what he’s trying to do for those parents!

  8. Joe Bacon says:

I’m just waiting for the 1/6 Select Committee to send a subpoena to Alex Jones and see him melt down in front of Liz Cheney. She will slice him up and put him in a meat grinder.

  9. don’t those courthouses have a couple of below deck cells? seems like a few days in one of them might bring Mr. Jones around. or not, he doesn’t seem very bright. but then consider the full IQ range of his audience.

  10. What Opinionated Hussy said. Congrats and many thanks to Mark!

Proper punishment for Jones? I got a dull knife and some no salve. Neutering him without the benefit of 100 proof bonded Kentucky drain cleaner sounds about right before monetary damages get awarded.

  13. Grandma Ada says:

Nothing will bring back those little children, but after nine years there should be justice for these parents and Jones. I hope those involved in the Big Lie take note and comply with the 1/6 Commission.

  14. I hope Alex Jones is completely cleaned out and that $$$ rain down on your boy. It’s only fair.

RE judges: ““Nope, just random that we churned out 80 partisan 5-4 decisions for Republican donors, opened dark money floodgates, crippled Voting Rights Act, unleashed partisan bulk gerrymandering, and protected corporations from court. Pure coincidence.” Senator Sheldon Whitehouse commenting on Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito saying the Supreme Court is not a ‘dangerous cabal’… (In other words, more R projection.)

Why does Texas have so many fine judges and so many awful politicians?

    18
  19. Have heard of lawyers who had to put a lien on their client’s property when the client tried to withhold payment. Thing is, I have never heard of Jones owning anything beyond a microphone. Good luck to your terrific son!

whoops sorry maggie @19, one of my ten thumbs hit submit on its way to another key.

Anyway Jones’ a$$ets, hidden and otherwise, somebody owned that mic, if not Alex. Preferably not Alex, possibly someone lic., bonded, insured, etc. such as a somewhat saner person than Jones. With a judge having “opened the door” there are a number of possibilities to squeezing some $$$ out of the Alex turnip.

Congratulations all round–to Mark, to Bill, and to Judge Gamble, for dropping a house on Alex Jones. I hope Jones ends up in a cardboard box under a bridge–after he pays everybody he owes, of course. You have a son to be proud of, Ms. Bankston.

  25. Sam in Mellen says:

There will be lots of discovery about his finances. Mark and Bill are doing the country a public by taking this pile of trash to the financial dump.

I second what Buttermilk Sky said. All these great Lawyers and so many crooked Politicians!

When I read the story my first thought was.”BUBBA WON!:)”

Congratulations, Juanita Jean and Mark! Keep us informed on the show!

    26
  27. He’s not going to pay.

Oh, and the sentencing date only provides Jones with a deadline for flight. I’m telling you, he’s not paying a penny to anyone, let alone his enemies’ lawyers – and they are bitter enemies, make no mistake. Remanding Jones into custody will ultimately be Judge’s Gamble’s *only* remaining remedy, and even this (assuming he surrenders, which he won’t) will fall far short of justice for those kids’ parents.

Jones’ current freedom is a gift from Judge Gamble. Now watch him repay her by fucking the court over yet again.

    27
  28. UmptyDump says:

Gotta agree with sleeve98, except that when and if the law catches up with Jones, it’s a lead-pipe cinch that he get serious prison time and find his assets confiscated. He’s run out of room.
