What Was She Thinking?

June 21, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, Melania is a former model with a keen understanding of her own image. She never makes an accidental fashion choice. Right?

So, think about it: maybe she’s throwing shade on Trump.  After all, she did plan this trip prior to his reversal.  Maybe he disapproved of the trip and she didn’t give a damn.

Her spokesperson says it’s just a jacket.  No, that is not just a jacket – that is a statement.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

  1. Last word on this matter: “No, that is not just a jacket – that is a statement.”

    1
  2. The back of the jacket has large print that says, “I really don’t care. Do you?” I cannot understand the choice of this jacket at this time by this FLOTUS. I cannot wrap my head around it at all.

    2
  3. What is Melania thinking? “If he would just die in his sleep tonight, I am free.”

    3
  4. Okay, what am I missing here? Does the back of her jacket say something profound? Otherwise, I don’t see the big deal.

  5. Chloe Bear says:

A statement no ifs and or buts, it was a statement. It was hot and humid in DC today no need for a jacket.

    5
  6. Nevermind. I googled it.

  7. Beststash says:

For her to wear that just shows that she is TRASH. VOTE!

    7
  8. Chloe Bear, if you think it was hot in DC, Texas was really hot & humid today.

    8
  9. It’s opening weekend for the 2018 NFL football season. All of the players take the field for the national anthem wearing light jackets that say “I really don’t care. Do you?”

    Question:
Are they making a statement? Or not?

    9
  10. My thoughts too: it was about the (child)ren. One specifically. TRumpf. It’s 96 where I am on the west coast and even I know with heat & high humidity level, there’s no need for a jacket. That jacket at -$40 was a message for her child-husband. Well, I can hope.

  11. Jane & PKM says:

Messy is wearing the team jacket for the Dotard45 maladministration. Jeff would wears his, but it’s too big. Whereas Kirstjen doesn’t need anything beyond her face to make the same statement.

    11
  12. Linda Phipps says:

That jacket is the epitome of the most arrogant, entitled attitude there could be. Maybe if as other suggest it was a message for her meal ticket, but I don’t know. Pretty brave, any how.

  13. lazrgrl says:

It was meticulously planned. She was awarded a genius visa remember.

    13
  14. Cindy Reidinger says:

Guess her Let’em Eat Cake jacket was at the cleaners.

    14
  15. Occam’s Razor: She had better things to do and she was used as a PR flack to clean up Trump’s mess. She really didn’t care about the mission.

  16. Buttermilk Sky says:

We’ve all been there. You don’t do the laundry for a while and then you wake up and realize you have to visit a baby jail in Texas. Grab the first thing out of the closet.

I ordered one that says DEPORT SLOVENIAN PERJURORS. There’s a six-week wait; they can’t keep them in stock.

    16
  17. Jill Ann says:

LOL at Buttermilk Sky! Also, I can vouch for not needing a jacket in TX today. I played tennis at 6:30 pm here in Houston and about dropped over from the heat and humidity. South TX where Melania was, is even hotter. Meanwhile, my flaming liberal daughter is sitting on the sidewalk at a vigil outside the proposed “shelter” in Houston, where it’s hot and humid and she has gotten a few ant bites. She said the Dominican Sisters were there earlier. Catholics are good on this immigration stuff!

  18. What irks me is a scheduled trip in inclement weather. A waste of time. A meteorologist could have suggested she wait a day or two.

Interrogating Melania Trump’s Statement Jacket and its Fast-Fashion Fascism:
    https://www.newyorker.com/culture/annals-of-appearances/interrogating-melania-trumps-statement-jacket-and-its-fast-fashion-fascism

“The clothes she was wearing, in the context of her husband’s inhumane treatment of immigrants, constituted the most significant conjunction of clothing and incipient fascism since Hugo Boss débuted his collection for fall/winter 1938. …”

    Hugo Boss:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Boss_(fashion_designer)

“The company produced shirts and jackets and then work clothing, sportswear and raincoats. In the 1930s, it produced uniforms for the SA, the SS,[2] the Hitler Youth, the postal service, rail employees and later the Wehrmacht.[3]

    Support of Nazism
Boss joined the Nazi Party in 1931, two years before Adolf Hitler came to power.[4] By the third quarter of 1932, the all-black SS uniform (to replace the SA brown shirts) was designed by SS-Oberführer Prof. Karl Diebitsch and Walter Heck (graphic designer).[5] The Hugo Boss company produced these black uniforms along with the brown SA shirts and the black-and-brown uniforms of the Hitler Youth.[6][7] ”

(remember, Malaria was an illegal from Slovenia, and ought to know better. But then, Slovenia had a Nazi collaborationist faction, maybe her kin were part of it?

“In addition, some 46,000 Slovenes were expelled to Germany, including children who were separated from their parents and allocated to German families.[66][67] ” )

  21. Bud, Much of South Texas just got clobbered by an unnamed tropical system that came up from the Yucatan.
It landfalled around Rockport (the circulatory center), meandered north a little, then west, then southwest, eventually (late today) into Mexico. It was very slow-moving, and had a very active CCW convective circulation activity that remained over the Gulf, with it rotating inland for days.
Places in the Valley saw up to 16 inches of rain, much of the Corpus area got 8-10 inches, the heavy rain stretched almost to San Antonio, and Houston got a bunch too.
I captured a bunch of NOAA radar loops, it was a big, unique, awesome storm system.
It was a pretty significant system, the ‘feel’ of the weather here the last couple of days was very ‘tropical storm’: rotating winds, rain, humidity, clouds, etc. Didn’t even get above 80 degF here for three days, the clouds were so thick (from solid near 100degF the last two months).

  22. Linda Phipps says:

Thank you Sandridge for making good use of your time doing research. After I leave here, I will segue over to the local news Channel 9 in DC to participate in a public opinion poll. Of course it will lean critical of that arrogant jacket, because my station seems to do so, in opposition to channel 7 which is owned by Sinclair. I had thought that Zara was a high end brand because I couldn’t imagine Melania would actually purchase something that cheap. I could afford that thing, but I wouldn’t waste my pension dollars on something so limited in its opportunity for wear and would end up in the trash.

    22
  23. Linda Phipps says:

Trump has actually sounded off on the jacket pronouncing it does have a message, that Melania no longer cares about the “fake news”.

    23
  24. Linda Phipps says:

Update: the online poll shows 13 percent think the jacket is appropriate, 65 percent inappropriate and the remainder “don’t care”.

    24
  25. Brian Crowder says:

The tRumps redefine “white trash” daily… and the bar keeps going lower and lower and lower….

    25
  26. Linda Phipps says:

I also did a little research: Zara might get a pass on the “swastika” on the purse. That IS an Indian symbol, the Nazi one points in the other direction.

    26
  27. Why the heck did she have to go as far as Texas to see a child jail? There is one right next door to D.C. in Virginia. It is a total disgrace. Plus such a short trip would have saved taxpayers money. No jet fuel involved. Just a short copter ride. BTW, Governor Northem is sending a team down to that jail to investigate.

    27
  28. Annabelle Lee says:

She is not some dewy-eyed ingenue, innocent of what’s going on around her. She is complicit.

I’m so tired of (overwhelmingly white) people making excuses for this gold-digging jerk. She knows who her husband is, and the harm he’s doing, and she doesn’t care. She really doesn’t.

There’s already a t-shirt out that reads, “I really do care. Don’t you?”

    28
  29. There is NO excuse for wearing this jacket to a detention center for little kids. Her message was crystal clear. Just like her horrible husband, she doesn’t give a rip about what’s happening to these kids and their parents and she wants the world to know it. Despicable.

  30. rastybob says:

The answer is.—I care you heartless c&%t.

    30
  31. Maymoon says:

I have no idea who that message was directed at…but it was for sure a message. Melania is not some teenager just grabbing what ever is clean nor it that her only jacket.

    31
  32. Jim caiella says:

It’s very simple really. She just gave the finger to all decent Americans. Any sympathy she was garnering because of her “situation” went out the window. She has shown her colors, she IS one of them.

    32
  33. Jim Caiella says:

I work in DC. It wasn’t even sweater weather at close to 90. How cool was Texas?
