What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

October 07, 2015 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Welcome to NRA America.

According to The Detroit News, the 47-year-old woman was watching from the store’s parking lot on Tuesday as a loss prevention officer appeared to be trying to stop a shoplifter. When the suspects tried to flee in a dark SUV, the woman pulled out her concealed 9mm handgun and began shooting.

Holy crap.  The loss prevention officer doesn’t even have a damn handgun.

Hey, Annie Oakley, there’s a reason police don’t fire guns in a parking lot. You are damn lucky another ammosexual wasn’t in the parking thinking you were a damn mass murderer shooting a damn gun in a damn parking lot.

Thanks to Alan for the heads up.

  1. As a decent human being, I can’t even imagine how I would feel if I had shot someone over a tool or a bunch of nails. This woman probably expects people to laud her as heroine who shot up the parking lot over a hammer. She’s a dangerous idiot. Next time these shoplifters go into a store, they’ll be carrying a gun.

Amazing comment. In just a few sentences on an unrelated subject you have summed up the post-WW2 world. The USA. The Soviet Union. The manufacturing world. Wow! Awesome.

Another self-appointed ammosexual judge deciding that a stolen hammer is worth more than a life. The death penalty for misdemeanor crowd is growing and dangerous.

Most Nevada Casinos did away with open carry security guards several years ago, for obvious reasons. I did some armed casino security work. But we carried concealed and had special training & qualifications. And, having the sense to never draw down on a crowded casino floor was a major requirement.

Here’s the kicker on this according to The Raw Story. “Auburn Hills police had not decided if the woman would be charged.”
After all, this is such a difficult thing to determine. Right!

    4
  5. Tell me she’s being charged with something.

    5
  6. Elizabeth Moon says:

She needs to be charged with: reckless discharge of a firearm in a public place, reckless discharge of a firearm on private property (since the store probably owns the parking lot too–it’s not a public road), reckless endangerment. I would have her in the slammer for no less than a month, and her guns (because surely she has more) confiscated and her carry permit revoked.

  7. Hollyanna says:

What Elizabeth Moon said. I can’t for the life of me see why there would be any doubts about charging her.

The inimitable Jim Wright has a few pithy comments on this incident on his Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Stonekettle?ref=ts&fref=ts

  9. Elizabeth Moon, how about attempted murder? Just because she didn’t hit the shoplifter doesn’t mean she wasn’t trying. She wasn’t defending herself, so she can’t use the self-defense bull. She was just trying to shoot someone. Just because she is a lousy shot shouldn’t get her off the hook for attempted murder.

    9
  10. I’m with Elizabeth Moon and Mark J. Who deputized her?

Reminds me of another recent post at the Salon where the victim of a car-jacking was shot dead by a self-appointed cop.

Man, I hope my obituary doesn’t say anything about “innocent bystander” or “collateral damage.”

    10
  11. The only thing that stops a bad guy without a gun is somebody who thinks she can blaze away at will in a public parking lot….

Maybe she’s an off-duty cop with perfect scores on the firing range. Probably not. If she were, she should have known better than to pull a gun and fire in that situation.

    11
  12. One of the biggest problem with a lot of these concealed carry fans is everything they know about civic law enforcement seems to have come from especially violent dramas in TV and the theater. Most of them would be confounded but the idea that there is never any justification for shooting at a fleeing suspect — why it happens on TV all the time. (Actually, not much anymore. It did in the 70s). Not everyone can be Don Johnson, Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson or whatever gives them the awesomes.

Elizabeth Moon — are you the author? That one? Not everyone can be Esmay Suiza either.

I wasn’t the one who did the heads up.

    12
  13. Now y’all know why I left Detroit!

Boner won’t let CDC study gun violence because he claims guns are not a disease. Being an ignorant, drunk, human being wingnut is a disease, though

  16. Even the wild west full of cowboys wasn’t as wild as these clowns think it was. Consider the number of towns where new arrivals had to surrender their guns . . .

  18. As of this morning, that woman is up to her earballs in trouble! The local prosecutor is considering a list of charges and the cops have their Public Information officer on TV telling the public the right thing to do when you see something go down; don’t use whatever you are legally carrying, most especially in a crowded area such as a store or parking lot. A thousand dollars worth of stolen goods is just not enough reason to endanger other people.

Okay, that’s it! ALL of you, RIGHT NOW register to run for a Congressional seat. There’s more plain common sense in the comments above than the 538 wizbangs we have now could muster! Please?

  20. Mark Schlemmer says:

As a person who has spent an incalculable amount of time suffering through Home Depots all over the country building performing arts venues I am mostly amazed that ANYONE would pull a gun and shoot at another human being who might have stolen something from one. I’ll admit to wanting to kill in Home Depot stores but it always due to the miserable selection of Chinese made crap, twisted lumber, and low quality employees. Period. Not to mention that they have driven any competition out of business in many areas and are owned by an ultra RWNJ. My saving grace is that, like I will today, I also substitute teach and I get to hang out with 1st graders later this morning. A blessing!

  21. That horrible woman shot at a vehicle without knowing who was actually in it. There might have been children inside for all she knew. Or children in the car behind the one she shot at.

Please, please, please do not let this woman have guns. Or sharp scissors–she gets the ones with the rounded ends.

    21
  22. The shooter was lucky there was no co-conspirator in the wings armed to provide lethal backup.

Assuming that there was a shoplifting taking place in first place.

    22
  23. e platypus onion says:

Read yesterday that there were some armed students in Oregon who were afraid to engage the shooter because they figured the cops would shoot them as accomplices. So much for the theory of a good guy with a gun.

  25. The drooling gun toting “sovereign citizen” who spent time at the Bundy ranch has been charged with practicing medicine without a license. He learned how to cure cancer make women “un-pregnant” on YouTube and will service you for the price of guns or pure silver.

“Prior to becoming a professional doctor, I was a sex machine inventor, swinger, BDSM master, porn actor and producer,” he claimed beneath a nude photo of himself.

He was just arrested on 30+ felonies since he spread infectious disease among clients who sought medical assistance at his filthy trailer — where they found bloody instruments, controlled substances, firearms, non-human remains and bags of bodily fluid.

Wow, those eyes inspire such confidence. Who knew that Josef Mengele had a kid, living here in the States?

I wonder if he’s gonna go all elitist on us, and want a lawyer who has a fancy, expensive degree, and who’s passed the state Bar exam.

    28
  29. Perhaps a bit OT, but maybe not. Has there been a single reported incident of an ammosexual or any other “good guy” actually shooting a bad guy and/or harming innocents? I don’t recall any – must be the librul media thang (snark intended).
