Wanna Make a Bet?

June 27, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I say that Trumpcare is withdrawn by 9:30 am Texas time tomorrow and the sounds of defeat will be celebrated throughout the land.

In other joyous news, Jared Kushner just hired Abbe Lowel to do his lawyering.  Jared must know he’s in big trouble.  Hey, as Hank Williams Jr said – it’s a family tradition.

Be social and share!

If withdrawn tomorrow, the fight isn’t over, but missymac will start getting dirty and will employ ‘party discipline’.

  2. Jane & PKM says:

Senators are blowing in the breeze on this. Those states with large rural populations will be decimated by Trumpcare. This bill put the “care” into carnage. But, despite the heavy constituent outrage, the Senators are hearing lots of horse whispering from their donors and corporate sponsors.

My bet is for McTurdle to duck into his shell on Monday, July 2. That gives him the grace of missing the weekend jabber fests and the distraction of the Fourth of July holiday to give him additional cover.

  3. RepubAnon says:

I predict the bill is given a few face-saving fixes, then passed. Republicans enjoy shafting the poor, and may channel some of the spending cuts into military spending. Guns, not butter, resonates with their core

  4. In the middle of all of this, Senator Chaffetz wants another $30,000 raise for Congress and Senate, because poor little senator doesn’t have enough to live in DC. But the same heartless S.O.B. would deny citizens a living wage, reasonable and safe housing and universal healthcare. No sympathy for for him.

  5. charles phillips says:

PKM, the only way to get “Care” into “Carnage” is to take the “Nag” out.

So far, the “Nag” is working, so we should leave it in.

  6. The risk/reward for each of the GOP senators on the fence is different. But the ‘rewards’ part of the balance is always subject to unlimited pressure in the form of $$ from interested sources. At some point, enough $$ will be enough to get you a retirement that will outweigh being without a job.

    6
  7. @ Papa #4: Perhaps he should try crowd funding his idea.

    7
  8. wrong. the fat cat GOP donors are threatening to write no checks so the ballless senate will vote to pass for sure. corrupt treasonous asshats

    8
  9. RepubAnon:

I think you are right but not cynical enough. If it follows the same path as it did in the house there will be a few minor changes that make it WORSE, but will somehow address so-called “moderates” deep “concerns” and everyone in gopland will jump right on board. The mainstream morons will dutifully report that Susan Collins et al are satisfied and that democrats are not being bipartisany.

  10. Mark Johnson says:

Did I miss something? Is there a new reason for this prediction that Trump’s Wealthcare bill is about to bite the dust? I am afraid that this horror is going to pass, but not before it gets worse. I’m with @lumpkin on this one.

    10
  11. WA Skeptic says:

And here’s the Heartless at work: four of the congress-critters won’t vote for it because it doesn’t go far enough to damage the elderly, or the young, or the disabled, or pregnant women and infants.

    A&&holes.

  12. Karla Furr says:

It’s 12:58 PM,and I just heard on MSNBC that Scrooge McConnell is going to announce soon that “The Bill” will be withdrawn for now.JJ just missed by a couple of hours.Congratulations!

    12
  13. Looks like you made a good bet! It ain’t over but I firmly believe any delay bodes well. I’ve called and sent emails to both Texas Senators several times lately. Don’t know if it did any good but certainly made me feel better.

    13
  14. That Other Jean says:

JJ, from your typing fingers to the ears of Whatever might be listening–but I’m not holding my breath. Republicans have hit the bottom of the barrel of awful, and they’re still digging.

Also: “Democrats fall in love; Republicans fall in line.” is still true, no matter what their leaders ask them to vote for.

    14
  15. BarbinDC says:

I just heard that the Turtle is delaying the vote until after the July 4 recess.

    Hmmmmmm.

    15
  16. Juanita Jean Herownself says:

Yeah, they caved long before I expected them to. I figured they’d want one more chance to leave a horse’s head in Ryan Paul’s bed.

    16
  17. Bingo!

    17
  18. Don A in Pennsyltucky says:

According to Politico, Mitch says that if Obamacare repeal fails he may be forced to negotiate with Schumer.

    18
  19. maryelle says:

Imagine, allowing Democrats a voice on the healthcare bill!
What a novel idea, but Republicans would have to hold their noses.

    19
  20. Did y’all see the Capitol Steps “Town Hall” Sen. Booker held last evening along with Rep. John Lewis? Joining him were several senators including Chris Murphy, Chuck Schumer, Kirsten Gillibrand, Bob Casey, Chris Coons, Brian Schatz, and my own Jeff Merkley. Great stuff, many folks gathered to listen and relate their own stories. You can find it on Sen. Booker’s FB page. Lasted about 3 hours. Other Dem Senators held the Senate floor giving speeches.

Meanwhile I called my former Rep (R-sell out) and left a message for him. And also called my niece’s R senator to relate how the bill would adversely affect her. Have also called my own Dem Sens & Rep of course. Several times.

McConnell is cracking, but we’re not out of the woods by a long shot.

  21. NYT had a “op ed”* piece today that tried to argue that this monster will have young people eager to buy insurance at the great new lower prices, so it will actually increase enrollment and bring costs down dramatically within 4 or 5 years; the problem is just that the government accountants just aren’t doing the math right.

    Right.

*”Op ed” meaning they gave usable space to a RWNJ instead of trying to keep their publication truthful.

    21
  22. Put a tax on stock market trades and pay for universal healthcare, probably pay down some of the national debt as well.

    22
  23. Tilphousia says:

We are not out of the woods. Unless the constituents convince the quislings that ALL the rethugs will be tarred with the death care bill money may work. Can go either way at this point.

    23
  24. lumpkin says:

    Re djw:

NYT otta just be burned to the ground after staff have a chance to escape. Their idiotic notion that “we’ll just give any right wing crank a national platform and let the people we completely fail to properly inform sort it out” has been destroying the national discourse worse than fnews.

    They are worse than useless.

    24
  25. Jane & PKM says:

Three rats running in a circle biting each other on the tRump: Donnie, Lyin’ Ryan and the man in the marine reptile shell, Mitch. Apt analogy for what our health care system was before the ACA, and what it will be if Mitch comes out of his shell and rams this through the Senate. Uninsured people cost us money. Can’t wait for 22 million more uninsured to hit the American health care triangle.

It really is this simple. Those of us who can currently afford insurance will be price hiked into pain. People who cannot afford insurance should be treated; that part is really simple. However, when there is no equitable plan to share the costs, hospitals raise their prices to cover non-paid bills. In turn, they charge the participating insurance companies more, and they in turn raise our premiums.

How to save money? Again simple. Remove the 20% vigorish that insurance skim off the top. Single payer.

As for Big Pharma and reducing costs, perhaps one of the discussions Sen Booker might like to start as soon as he sheds that team jacket.

As for all the $billions available to Mitch to strike a deal, worst one yet are for the snacilbupeR Congress varmints in northern NY. They stand to receive substantial property tax breaks, while sending that Medicaid cost to low and medium income workers in southern NY.

    25
  26. I gave up keeping count. Just how many people in the White House have hired at least one lawyer?

    26
  27. Maggie ONeill says:

Ole Jared is keeping up the family tradition of grifting. Wonder if he will keep the one about moronic lawyers. Sure hope so.

    27
  28. “Lowell”; with two “L’s”.

And ho-lee-shit!!! Abbe Lowell is not just any DC attorney. He is one of the best-known trial lawyers in DC and perhaps the country, especially if you’re guilty.

To me this implies that he’s bracing for the beating about to come. He knows he’s in trouble.
