Victory In Ohio

In the never-ending battle for truth, justice and the American Way, which sometimes seem to be contradictory goals, a victory was won on a key front which adavances the cause of all three.
My adopted state, Ohio, which is currently being run by a gang of smarmy, self-serving, conniving wretches (aka “Republicans”) has been given extra voting time on the weekend before the election.
This was the denouement of the recent “Obama hates the troops” brouhaha, wherein the Rightistas said that expanding the right to vote on that last weekend to everyone, not just military, was “anti-military.” Even though, four years ago, everybody could vote that weekend, anyway, and the military didn’t complain even once.
That, of course, did not stop the GOP from “fixing” a “problem” which doesn’t exist, only to have the “solution” make voting harder for key Obama demographics, including old people, working people, minority people and sentient people.
Such helpful, handy, unneeded, un-asked for and unConstitutional fixes are all the rage among the Rabid Right, who can’t win without lying, cheating, obfuscating and lying again, all while carrying a cross, wrapped in the flag, with a cherry on top (until marriage!)
The Republican OH SecState has managed to put the kibosh on the other weekends leading up to that one…so far! He’s even FIRED two Dem Election Board members in Montgomery County who tried to defy his imperial edicts. But this decision (as well as others in FL and TX) sets the table for more such victories in Ohio…and elsewhere.
We’uns down here in tha hollar are right glad for ya’ll across the river. Now if we had a snowballs chance in hell of getting a new set of Senators. Ditch Mitch and Ban Rand. Please.
1It is a victory for both Ohio and Texas, now let’s hope PA follows suit! It just takes my breath away to know how underhanded and dispicable the Republicans are being!

4I was soooooo happy to see this!! I wonder if Sec of State Rep criminal hissownself Jon Husted will give the DEMS back their jobs…..seeing as how WHAT THEY WERE FIGHTING FOR WAS UNDER THE LAW. State law that is…Not his. This guy is an arrogant law-bender himself. Used to live in OH…….
5@Jan: Maybe he was taking advantage of all the “debauchery” going on. I have a friend here, who does PR work for restaurants, who says that she has never seen the level of debauchery as what goes on at both conventions. Which should make Juanita Jean happy.

9@ LynnN, splendid quote! Patriotism is a little like that Christianity thing: if you have to proclaim your stand very loudly, maybe it’s because your actions speak more loudly than your words!
10@Jan … I did see Dick Armey on Chris Matthew’s show last night … I think he’s spending too many days on the golf course with the Orange Man Boehner … he looked a sickly color of orange! Plus … I was wondering if he’s Italian because he could say nothing without waving his arms and hands around! No disrespect to the Italians, but he was just weird to both watch and to listen to … do they ever really answer a question?
11@Jan – I saw the segment with Dick Armey and also noticed his brown, leathery ugly face. Also too, I noticed he had very white hands. Whatever he had been doing, he didn’t want to touch it or else he washed his hands. We know it’s not because he is a quart low on BS.
