Up is Down, Left is Right, and the Sun Rises in the West

June 22, 2017 By: El Jefe Category: Healthcare

Welp, the Senate bill is out, and you guessed it right, it sucks just about as badly as the House version.  What I can’t get over is the name.  Why do they do that?  I mean like the Clear Skies Act – that allows more pollution to be emitted…into the sky; the Internet Freedom Act – that destroys network neutrality.  Today’s doozy is the Better Care Act – that kicks millions off of health insurance, cuts Medicaid expansion, allows states to opt out of essential coverages, eliminates the individual mandate, and just for good measure, defunds Planned Parenthood.  Hoorah.

As Vox puts it in their analysis, it helps the healthy and wealthy, and hurts the sick and poor.  How patriotic.  You know one thing, though – if Republicans give a name to something – just apply the antonym.

Be social and share!

  2. And right now it faces a real fight in the Senate to ever see the light of day in the White House.

  3. Better Care for whom is the question. Rich people and big GOP donors is the answer.

Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) previously declared that she would not vote for any bill which withdrew funding for Planned Parenthood. Let’s hope she sticks to her word. She will be under tremendous pressure to vote for this monstrosity.

Only thing we need to know about the Senate version versus the House version is that this one contains a self-serving codicil to hide/delay the more draconian aspects of the bill past the 2018 and 2020 elections to save snacilbupeR House and Senate seats. And, to pay for the delays in “savings”, the Senate version drastically reduces the House version of what little was intended to address opioid addiction by a factor of 1000%.

Just remember every time one of the snacilbupeR says “privatize” we need to swiftly provide them with the correct word: profiteer. There’s no “there there” in health care. This is all about increasing profits for insurance companies and snatching pennies from the poorest among us to create more massive tax cuts for the .01%, while robbing dimes and dollars from the rest of us.

montag, don’t forget to give Lyin’ Ryan proper credit for his Snuff Granny policies remaining from the House bill.

  11. They named it Obamacare. We unfortunately called it the Affordable Care Act.

Protesters are ‘greeting’ punchbowl floaters like Chuck Grassley at the airport as they flee Dee Cee and the AHCA.

Best chant so far: “CEOs are getting paid with the cuts to Medicaid”

Call your snacilbupeR varmints or e-mail them with your favorite chant. Chants good. Discussion bad. We’re dealing with varmints with less attention span than the fleas they carry.

The part I find the most despicable is the fact that they are going to very, very gradually kick people off Medicaid with the real big numbers of people being kicked off Medicaid in seven years when, I guess Medicaid ends forever, so that Senators elected in 2016 can get re-elected in 2022 when their term is up in 6 years without having to explain away the fact that they voted to push EVERYBODY off of Medicaid. This might give them trouble after the 2022 election but most of the people who would care will probably be dead.

The bill also does away with the requirement that all business who employ more than 50 people have to provide health insurance.

Slipstream- The bill does weird stuff with abortion. It defunds Planned Parenthood for a one year period but adds in that those who get coverage with government subsidies can get abortions. I think they are trying to play up to Murkowski but I sure don’t trust them. Why would Repubs suddenly want government money to pay for abortions?

  16. All those people who’ll lose big when their Medicaid gets cut off? They’ll be dead or in institutions by the time these snakes have to run for reelection. This is their way of dealing with the problem of overpopulation. They think they’re doing the world a big favor.

And I apologize to snakes for comparing them to GoOPer senators. After all, snakes gotta do what snakes gotta do. Wish I could say the same for GoOPer senators.

Too bad those corrupt, evil, unhuman rethugs who came up with the McTurd-Ryan death care bill are not forced to use it instead of the taxpayer paid for healthcare they have. Too bad their wives and children won’t die from lack of care like their constituents’ will. Too many rethugs have grown rich from pretending to be “servants of the people”. They serve only rich masters who compensate them handsomely. They should be set to hard labor for the remainders of their sorry lives.

It’s WEALTHCARE! It’s all just an excuse to give the wealthy, not just tax cuts in the future, but retroactively return the taxes they paid during the ACA, According to Ali Velchi on MSNBC.

This is an old conservative story: crush the women, the old, the poor, the children, the sick and disabled and let the wealthy grab the money which would have helped them. True KKKristianity!

  19. Tilphousia @ 17:

Most of these turd-polishers, with their round bellies, soft hands and wide arses, don’t understand what actual work is, let alone service to the people. Representation of and service to the public is THE ONLY JOB THEY WERE ELECTED TO DO, and it’s more than they can handle. Service to the self and the succulent sound of all that shady money swirling around are just too much to resist. That is truly sad.

  20. Check out Senator Bob Casey’s tweet about what’s actually in the bill. On p. 29 the bill repeals the tanning tax, effective Sept. 30. I guess they added that one especially for Agent Orange.
