Texas, It Truly Is a Whole Other County

Like the sign says —

You know how our legislature spent the entire session fretting over who uses which bathroom and calling ICE when they see someone who looks Hispanic?

That’s because this is not considered a problem in Texas.

Lawmakers in Texas largely failed to take any significant action to address the state’s skyrocketing rate of pregnancy-related deaths just months after researchers found it to be the highest in not only the U.S., but the developed world.

If Texas was a country, we’d be undeveloped.

Hey, when you practically eliminate access to abortion,  defund Planned Parenthood, and cut funding for Medicaid, what the fool tarnation do you expect?

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

Be social and share!

“what the fool tarnation do you expect?”

I dunno, maybe a remake of Mikey Dense’s Indiana, where his stick his prurient & voyeuristic nose where it didn’t belong policies set a new record for STD outbreaks?

Guys. We have penicillin, yet syphilis still reigns. Think maybe it is past time to give education a chance?

As for women and reproductive health care, the ladies had that well under control. Then the snacilbupeR men interfered. Those tools need to have “Please Don’t Help” t-shirts stuffed into their mouths while their grubby little legislative paws are bound with similar t-shirts. Idiots.

  2. JJ, it’s my understanding that 100 million registered voters – didn’t in the 2016 election. How many of those are in Texas? Where are those blue collar Texas workers needed to change the political system?

You forgot to include abstinence-centered sex education in your list of causes, but the ignorance it ensures — combined with a society that tells a person they have to wait about six years from the onset of puberty — half their already lived lives before they are ‘allowed’ to do anything about the hormonal pressures (remember that masturbation is — supposedly — sinful in many religions), and then they are to choose a spouse knowing nothing about how the two sex drives — and preferences — work together.

I realize this is a h*o*r*r*i*b*l*e and s*h*o*c*k*i*n*g idea (that mamma might not let get out of moderation) but I’d love to see a discussion of a real sex education course, one that not only gave the students the facts on the basics of conception, but also taught them about non-procreative sexual acts, and even encouraged students to experiment with both genders. (But that’s a personal argument — while some people may be born straight or gay, more, I’d argue, are influenced by the unspoken cultural rule that ‘you gotta choose one or the other around the time of puberty, and that if you like sex with one gender, you can’t really enjoy it with the other, or that emotional and sexual drives automatically coincide.

Comments? (Mamma you are pwease gonna let this

  4. I wonder how long it will take Dan Patrick, Louie Gohmert or some other of our fine, level headed public servants (I tried typing that part without snort/lauhing, but failed miserably) start a campaign to put volunteers in maternity wards to pray for mothers. Now try to imagine who would actually volunteer.

  5. New t-shirt idea:

    Texas is For Lovers*
(side affects may include #1 chance of death during childbirth)

  6. “Texas– It’s like a whole other country.” And we often wish it were, no offense to JJ who apparently chose to live there.

“Lawmakers in Texas largely failed to take any significant action to address the state’s skyrocketing rate of pregnancy-related deaths just months after researchers found it to be the highest in not only the U.S., but the developed world.”

Okay, here’s another piece of strong evidence that the GOP don’t give a flying **** about the unborn. They just use abortion denial to **** up women’s lives. If they cared, they’d do something to help the fetus-containers (known to most of us as “women”) actually survive the ordeal, give birth to healthy infants, and live to help those children grow into healthy adults.

Nope– we feel good about our little crusade, so y’all can just die for all we care. Damn them.

  7. Linked article says black women have 11% of the births in Texas but are 28% of the maternal deaths. Another reason for the GOP not to give a rat’s ass.

  8. I bet they thought God would take care of all that. Well, he did. He sent family planning, but just like the guy about to drown in rising water and was sent a row boat, since it wasn’t presented in what he thought would be the Hand of God, he would just wait until that exactly did happen. Well, you know what happened. Finito.

Here’s a question: Why aren’t straight men ticked off by this?

Consider: They want to have secks. But all the ladies are told no because you will be Sluts. So the ladies suggest protections. No… still Sluts! So the ladies suggest birth control. No… still Sluts! So the ladies say Sorry, Guys!

So the Guys say, Fine, I’ll find me a professional woman. Oh no! they say. Then you will be Sluts! Desperate for secks they say OK. Maybe we’ll go with Teh Gheys! Whoa! Never!! You will be Ultimate Sinning Sluts then.

Congratulations, Straight Guys! Give yourself a hand. But not in a slutty way. Sorry.

  10. Why is there a question mark at the end of that first sentence….?

A whole “other” country? That’s never the way I hear that phrase in Texas. It should say “a whole nother country.”

The reason those immoral rethuglican men don’t give a tinkers dam is cause its women who suffer and die. Women count less than the family pickup. One man was told by medical “professional” that if his wife died (the hospital refused an “abortion” for an already ruptured tubal pregnancy)that he could just go get another wife. Guess they sell them at Walmart in Texas and those other states where women don’t count. Until the thugs want their votes.
